Chapter 1247: The Princess Is in Trouble!
Lin Nuo found himself surrounded by demons and Holy Warriors; the situation was less than ideal.
It seemed their forces had expanded far beyond his expectations, popping up everywhere like mushrooms after rain.
He was trying to avoid a fight—after all, wasting energy on killing them was no small matter, not to mention the enemies were no pushovers.
However, being cornered left him no choice but to engage in battle.
“We’re surrounded, Lin Nuo! What do you propose we do?”
“We have no options left but to fight.”
“Can you trust me a little?”
“You? You have a plan?”
“Well, I can give it a shot.”
With that, a fierce cold wind began to swirl around Qin Shili, clearly enhancing her power within this domain, and quite significantly at that.
“What are you doing?”
“I can’t just be your burden forever.”
With those words, the biting wind swept through, and an icy domain materialized, freezing the soldiers around them.
However, it was only temporary; they were straining, and the ice was swiftly melting away.
“I can only hold them for a while.”
“Good, that’s enough.”
Lin Nuo realized that collaborating with Qin Shili could work; her ice combined with his wind techniques would make their escape doable.
He wrapped his arms around Qin Shili, raised his Spirit Sword, and summoned a ferocious wind within the icy domain, creating an ice storm that swept across the area.
“What…?!”
The Holy Warriors and demons were thrown into chaos by the icy storm, and the soldiers were forced to rely on the Spirit Masters behind them to break the ice from advancing.
But as soon as they dispelled the ice, Lin Nuo and Qin Shili had vanished.
“They got away.”
“We must mobilize all our troops to eliminate them here; otherwise, they’ll be a significant menace.”
Liang Zhao rode in on horseback and spoke to the demons and Holy Warriors of the Demon Realm and Sacred Realm.
“All troops? You can’t just decide that. Besides, there are only two of them; why waste all our resources?”
Holy General Guo Wei chimed in, remarking that pursuing Lin Nuo was already an excess of goodwill; committing all forces would be insane.
“Humans, we’ve shown you enough respect by inviting you to join the Handa Alliance. Don’t push your luck; they’re just two demons from the mortal realm. How much trouble can they really cause here?”
With that, the Holy General led his army away. Liang Zhao wore a neutral expression, but inside he couldn’t help but scorn the foolishness of the Handa Alliance.
Letting Lin Nuo and Qin Shili slip away would definitely be a disaster.
Arrogance and pride would surely lead to failure.
“Master, should we return to the mortal realm and check on Qin Dao?” one of Liang Zhao’s disciples inquired.
Liang Zhao waved his hand dismissively and replied:
“Forget him, that incompetent fool. We no longer need to serve him. We must focus on the mortal realm; although the Handa Alliance is growing stronger, its internal dynamics are complicated and fragmented. Soon, they will submit to us.”
“Understood, I will follow your lead. Do we still need to pursue Lin Nuo and his companion?”
“Send someone to find their whereabouts but avoid confrontation. Those fools are disorganized; with our current strength, we aren’t ready to challenge them. Let’s bide our time; soon, they’ll be our subordinates.”
Liang Zhao stroked his beard, seeming quite confident as if he had everything under control. He had a plan and very much hoped to see it executed.
He was willing to join the Handa Alliance, not out of loyalty but to dominate the group.
And he was certain of his success.
…
…
“They didn’t follow us?”
Lin Nuo stopped, relieved that the Handa Alliance was not in pursuit.
“Do you think they have another plan?” Qin Shili asked.
“Possibly.”
Lin Nuo sat by the riverbank, taking a couple of sips of water to quench his thirst.
“Those soldiers are heavy and clumsy, not much of a threat. But Liang Zhao, I suspect he’s planning something significant.”
“Liang Zhao? He’s from the mortal realm; his influence pales in comparison to others,” Qin Shili replied, puzzled.
“This guy has been studying some strange forms of magic. He managed to unleash your demonization, so that means he’s got some serious skills. I think he’s the biggest threat, especially since his true form remains unknown. That’s terrifying—always using puppets to create chaos, capable of infinite rebirth.”
Lin Nuo analyzed Liang Zhao with a hundred wary eyes; that old coot was very cunning, seemingly just flattering those in power while quietly amassing his own strength.
“You make a good point. He really is a tricky one. Alright, I take back my earlier words; I won’t settle down here. If we don’t eliminate him, we’ll be living in constant fear.”
Qin Shili said, recalling her past terror under Liang Zhao’s control, her heart still shadowed by it.
That old Mage, with his mastery of witchcraft, seemed to have his own beliefs and an obsession with power. It’s hard to imagine what he might do next.
“So, what do we do now?” Qin Shili asked.
“I’ve got a map, but it doesn’t cover enough area. We need to expand it. This place is vast, and I need to find the forces of Tianqi Kingdom and locate Mu Yiting. She’ll have a way to get us back.”
Lin Nuo said as he pulled out a small map. This realm wasn’t unified; no one had fully explored it, and the map was pieced together by some demons, making it quite limited, just a small section.
Thus, they’d need to gather more maps to assemble a larger one to find the Tianqi Kingdom’s forces, which might lead them to Mu Yiting.
Of course, whether Mu Yiting was still alive was uncertain; the same went for Ling Meng, whose whereabouts were unknown.
“Let’s head to the edge of this map and extend it.”
Lin Nuo pointed to a spot at the map’s edge, then stowed it away and set off.
Along the way, they could see the Handa Alliance’s influence, and they had to keep avoiding them, disguising themselves as local demons to pass undetected.
Of course, riding on Spirit Swords was out of the question; they’d make easy targets up in the sky.
But fortunately for them, the edge of the map conveniently bordered the forces of Tianqi Kingdom.
It should be noted that it was merely a remnant of their original power, as most had been absorbed by the Handa Alliance.
“Who are you? Don’t come any closer, or we’ll take action!”
A demon from Tianqi Kingdom shouted at Lin Nuo and the others, but it was simply a futile display of anger; their forces wouldn’t withstand Lin Nuo’s repeated assaults.
“I recognize your insignia; you’re from Tianqi Kingdom. I’m Lin Nuo, and I have a connection with your princess. Your current situation is dire; you’re always at risk of being annihilated.”
Lin Nuo said seriously, those present were aware but had never seen Lin Nuo before, leading them to question:
“You say you’re Lin Nuo, but what proof do you have?”
“Your envoy has met me; you can verify it. Please do so quickly, or when the Handa Alliance arrives, you’ll all perish here.”
“You don’t need to verify; he is indeed Lord Lin.”
Just then, a minister came forward, recognizing Lin Nuo.
“Lord Lin, we didn’t know better and offended you. Right now, the princess has encountered a problem; we sincerely request your assistance!” the minister exclaimed excitedly.
