Chapter 1248: Rescue in the Demon Realm
“I know you’re anxious, but please take a moment to explain everything slowly.”
Listening to the minister who was so agitated he could hardly speak, Lin Nuo quickly urged him to calm down; his distress was palpable.
Even if he was anxious, they weren’t on a tight schedule.
As expected, Mu Yiting had run into trouble; it was no surprise she suddenly went missing.
After all, someone of her stature as a princess of the Demon Realm would be among the first to encounter issues when something significant arose.
But what about Ling Meng?
Ling Meng was exceptionally talented; surely there was more to her than met the eye.
He recalled novels and legends he’d read before—those who could traverse between realms often possessed unique abilities. No, it was precisely because they had such powers that they could cross realms; those without such abilities would have likely perished long ago in a matter of survival of the fittest.
By this line of reasoning, it seemed Ling Meng’s disappearance was somehow connected to Mu Yiting. Two former rivals now found themselves in the same boat.
“Sir, here’s the situation: Princess Mu Yiting needs to return to release her Demon Qi; otherwise, it could become a danger to others in the human realm. We happened to encounter an attack from the Handa Alliance, suffered a blow to our forces, and they were forced back to the Demon Realm.”
“Back to the Demon Realm? You’ve got me in a tight spot now, how am I supposed to get there?”
“Lin Nuo, we can send you over. Once you find them, we’ll bring you back.”
“What if I can’t find them?” Lin Nuo countered.
“With your strength, I’m sure you’ll manage to find them,” the minister continued to flatter.
“I said ‘if.’ I’m not familiar with that place. You think just because you’re saying I can find them, I will?”
Lin Nuo was not amused; he didn’t appreciate the empty praise putting pressure on him.
“If we don’t succeed, we’ll bring you back,” the minister promised, bowing repeatedly to show respect.
Lin Nuo had a rough idea of what was going on. If he went and couldn’t find anyone, they certainly wouldn’t bring him back; in their eyes, Mu Yiting’s status ranked far above his. He was merely an ally at best.
But there was no choice. He had to go, especially since he wouldn’t be able to return to the human realm without finding Mu Yiting.
“By the way, have you seen a girl with long purple-black hair? She’s about sixteen, similar in age to your princess. She’s also a demon; her name is Ling Meng.”
“Oh, I know that; Miss Ling went missing along with the princess. Both of them are currently unaccounted for.”
“What was she doing here? Any explanation on that?”
“Well… I’m not too sure about that,” the minister stammered, seeming to know only the basics about Ling Meng being present.
Lin Nuo nodded, roughly understanding.
He didn’t know what Ling Meng had come for, but their sudden departure was likely due to some pressing matter.
Regardless, he needed to locate them first before seeking answers.
Lin Nuo glanced at Qin Shili, who simply nodded in support.
She consistently backed him up, even when it meant he was risking himself to save other women.
What else could they do? They had to leave; after all, the Handa Alliance’s expansion was terrifying, having seeped into every aspect of their existence. Even if they had unmatched bravery, facing such overwhelming odds would be difficult.
“How do you plan to get me there? Is there a Magic Array for teleportation?”
“Yes, Lord Lin, we have a Magic Array prepared for teleportation.”
The minister respectfully explained the location of the array, which was initially meant for their evacuation.
Indeed, the Handa Alliance’s power was significant in this realm, but the same could not be guaranteed in the Demon Realm. Various species could come here but typically returned to their own territories unless there was a teleportation array. However, the number of those who could be teleported was limited.
Even so, warriors from the Sacred Realm and humans going to the Demon Realm found it hard to adapt, which meant the Handa Alliance’s influence in the Demon Realm mainly relied on its own members.
Of course, the Demon Realm was embroiled in ongoing conflicts. The kingdom of Tianqi, where Mu Yiting resided, was on the brink of destruction. They were gradually moving out to expand their influence, only to be threatened by the Handa Alliance and now faced potential annihilation.
Lin Nuo suggested they should promptly end it all; it might be better for everyone to go their separate ways. If Tianqi fell, Mu Yiting wouldn’t need to return at all.
According to what the minister said, Mu Yiting and Ling Meng were forced into the Demon Realm against their will and likely trapped with no way to escape.
“Where would she typically go?” Lin Nuo asked.
“Most likely back to Tianqi; that’s one of the few places that can still accommodate them,” the minister replied.
“Sir, the Handa Alliance is pressing in on us. We must leave here now!”
At that moment, a soldier rushed in with the news that the Handa Alliance’s forces were closing in, leaving them with no choice but to retreat to the Demon Realm.
“I understand. Inform everyone; prepare to evacuate all remaining personnel from the capital back to the Demon Realm!”
The minister immediately issued orders, the situation was urgent, allowing no time for slacking.
Then he turned to Lin Nuo and asked:
“Lord Lin, what have you decided? I apologize; we must evacuate now. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to send you back to the human realm; otherwise, I could assist you.”
“I’ll go with you,” Lin Nuo replied. After all, his only allies here were from Tianqi. If they were leaving, there’d be no demons to assist him.
“Very well, please prepare yourself.”
“Ready, let’s go.”
“Then please follow me. Is this girl also a demon? Her Demon Qi seems weak; it’s best for her to be a demon in the Demon Realm, or she may struggle to adapt.”
“She’ll be fine; you don’t need to worry.”
Lin Nuo stated. Right now, worrying about whether she would be okay was pointless; even if she struggled, leaving her behind would only lead to her doom.
She should manage, given her ironclad willpower; a bit of adaptation would do her good.
“Alright then, everyone follow me.”
With that, the minister led Lin Nuo and the others to a Demon Array, where gray flames ignited around them and ghostly wisps floated ominously in the air. Lin Nuo thought it resembled a gateway to hell.
“This is urgent; I need to send you all first, and we’ll follow shortly after.”
“Okay, hurry it up.”
Lin Nuo urged, tired of the idle chatter, eager for action.
As the minister and several demon masters chanted their incantations to activate the array, Demon Qi swirled around them, radiating brilliant light before making them vanish without a trace.
……
“Are we out of options?!”
Mu Yiting and Ling Meng had retreated back to Tianqi, only to find themselves surrounded by the forces of the Handa Alliance and two Demon Realm nations, putting them in a precarious situation.
“Shouldn’t I just go over there? Otherwise, you’re all going to perish.”
“What? You’re just a small leader of the Refining Demon Sect. Do you really think if you go over, we’ll somehow be spared from destruction? Of course, if you seek a life of your own, I will support you.”
Mu Yiting didn’t agree with Ling Meng’s approach; the Handa Alliance currently needed to recall Ling Meng. As long as Tianqi handed her over, they could avoid annihilation.
However, the Handa Alliance had proven untrustworthy; how could they count on that? If Ling Meng went over, Tianqi would still face doom.
Outside, the Handa Alliance awaited Mu Yiting’s decision, ready to strike at any moment.
Suddenly, a young boy fell into the camp of the Handa Alliance…
