Chapter 1249: Caught Between a Rock and a Hard Place
“Where on earth am I?”
When the light from the Demon Array faded, Lin Nuo found himself dropped into a massive pit.
This pit was the Pit of Demons, surrounded by countless demons—thousands of them, with drums beating and noise booming.
The demons of the Handa Alliance were equally surprised by this scene, wondering where the heck this human popped out from.
Well then, let’s capture this human alive!
“What species is this?”
“Human! I’ve seen one of those before!”
“Where did this human come from? How did he get here?”
“Who cares about that, just catch him!”
These demons pounced on Lin Nuo like wild beasts spotting their prey, all clamoring that whoever captures him would be rewarded.
Of course, even faced with a horde of demons, Lin Nuo wouldn’t just give up. Instead, he felt disgust for this bunch, and a surge of anger rose within him, instantly stirring up a powerful whirlwind that swept a group of demons into the air.
Lin Nuo realized his Demon Soul Power had leapt to a new level—far stronger than in the borderlands of the Three Realms.
This crazy whirlwind swept through the entire Handa Alliance army, leaving these demons utterly bewildered by their sudden predicament.
Meanwhile, in the Tianqi Kingdom, Mu Yiting and Ling Meng found themselves in dire straits, yet they could vaguely sense some hope as the sudden whirlwind directly disrupted their formation, causing signs of collapse.
Whether this whirlwind would strike them was still unknown.
At this moment, some demons of Tianqi Kingdom had returned from the boundary realm. Though few in number, they could still provide some combat strength.
Qin Shili, having moved to the Tianqi Kingdom, discovered that Lin Nuo had vanished.
“Where is Lin Nuo? Where did you send him?”
Qin Shili was furious; her first reaction was that they intentionally split them up to defeat them one by one.
It seemed she had walked into a wolf’s den, with Lin Nuo sent off to who-knows-where.
“Seems like this is your plot, huh?”
An intense chill emanated from Qin Shili as she felt like it was do or die—if she couldn’t break through the encirclement, she’d at least make sure to inflict casualties on these demons.
“Miss, we really don’t know what’s going on! We didn’t deliberately send them away!” The minister hurriedly explained.
“Do you think I’d listen to your excuses?”
Qin Shili certainly wouldn’t hear him out; her chilling aura burst forth, quickly freezing nearby demons.
“What on earth is happening?!”
Mu Yiting rushed over to the teleportation altar to see what was going on and exactly at that moment saw Qin Shili unleashing her icy power, freezing her subordinates.
“Qin Shili? What are you doing here? Stop right now!”
Mu Yiting quickly intervened, and the two began to duel, casting techniques back and forth in a stalemate.
“You’re Mu Yiting? Explain to me what’s going on.”
Seeing that these demons had no intention of capturing her, Qin Shili ceased her magic.
They hadn’t interacted much before, so Qin Shili’s memory of Mu Yiting was faint, yet she could still recognize her instantly.
It felt strange to see a familiar face; it was certainly better than nothing.
“What’s going on? Can you tell me the whole tale? How did you end up here? Aren’t you supposed to be in the human world?”
“I wish I were. But I was swept away by a whirlwind to another place—it was in the borderlands of the Three Realms, and then Lin Nuo came to save me, and afterward…”
Qin Shili briefly recounted her experience to Mu Yiting, mentioning Lin Nuo’s disappearance and seeking an explanation.
“What’s going on? Where did you send Lin Nuo?”
“Your Highness, I honestly don’t know how it happened…”
The minister pleaded repeatedly, asserting his ignorance.
“Could it be…?”
Mu Yiting’s gaze fell on the battlefield ahead, where the sudden whirlwind raged, wreaking havoc across the Handa Alliance army.
“Could he have gone there? But sending him there doesn’t seem right.”
After a moment’s thought, Mu Yiting felt it might not be an accident, or perhaps someone was manipulating events from behind the scenes.
“If that’s the case, you must send all your demons out. Lin Nuo is fighting alone; if anything happens to him, how will you settle that?”
“I certainly wouldn’t be able to bear it. But until we know for sure, how can we recklessly deploy troops?”
Mu Yiting remained cautious as they were already down to a minimal number; if they all rushed out, a complete rout was likely.
Qin Shili’s gaze also shifted toward the whirlwind; she recognized this wind technique—it was a Spirit Technique Lin Nuo could wield.
No matter what, they had to go and investigate.
Qin Shili quickly took flight on her sword, zooming toward the front, but the Handa Alliance was vigilant in the skies. Upon seeing her flying on a sword, they quickly launched a fierce assault.
Qin Shili found herself unable to advance, having no choice but to retreat back into the Tianqi Kingdom.
“Even though I’m far from him, I can still recognize it’s him. So are you still hesitating?”
Qin Shili challenged Mu Yiting, who was also facing a dilemma. If they held the defense, they might stall for a while, but launching an attack could easily lead to collapse.
“Has Master arrived? Perfect timing, I have reason to venture out. Mu Yiting, you lead your subordinates to continue the defense while I join Master.”
Ling Meng suddenly approached, hearing about Lin Nuo and getting excited. Since Master was fighting at the front, there was no way she could just sit back and wait.
“Don’t go out; they’re targeting you.”
“Better than sitting here and doing nothing.”
Ling Meng was as stubborn as ever; they’d been surrounded by the Handa Alliance for a long time now, and without reinforcements, defeat was just a matter of time.
“Demon Woman, although I don’t acknowledge you, it looks like we have no choice but to cooperate now, and you have no other options. Our goals align: to meet up with Lin Nuo.”
Qin Shili stated, surprised to team up with this wicked Demon Woman.
Cooperation was certainly better than fighting alone; at least it would divert some attention.
“I can handle it myself,” Ling Meng retorted defiantly.
“Is that so? Then good luck with that.”
So she had suggested cooperating, only for Ling Meng to insist on going solo. Fine, let them both go off separately, relying on their own abilities.
Though Qin Shili and Ling Meng claimed to not work together, the moment they broke through, they’d still support each other, as if one faltered, the other would become the prime target.
“You all…”
Mu Yiting was helpless; if they could truly meet with Lin Nuo, it clearly wouldn’t matter how powerful she was.
“Follow my orders! You all come with me, the rest stay here to defend.”
Mu Yiting resolved to take a batch of subordinates to break out. However, just as she stepped out, chaos erupted within Tianqi Kingdom. The group brought back by the minister rebelled, causing a collapse in their defenses.
What was once a fallback route in the Tianqi Kingdom was lost; now they had nowhere to retreat, completely surrounded.
“This… you all…”
Mu Yiting gritted her teeth, not expecting those seemingly loyal ministers to betray her. The Tianqi Kingdom had been sealed off by a Barrier, making retreat impossible.
They had no choice but to regroup with Lin Nuo.
Meanwhile, Lin Nuo was in a frenzy as he fought.
“Come on! I’m the biggest boss in the human realm; how could I be defeated by you measly minions?”
