**Chapter 48: I Want to Destroy Everything That Makes Me Sick**
“Hey, we’ve been abandoned by the Boss, what are we supposed to do now? Should we go find a place to cause some destruction or something?”
Watching Gilbaris step into the wormhole, the bird realized that the three of them had been ruthlessly ditched.
Since Gilbaris didn’t want them anymore, the three of them had no choice but to wander the streets of Bield with A Jie, their current master.
Wandering, however, meant resting in a rundown, empty house on the outskirts of Bield City. A Jie would never be able to bring along a Blue Leopard, a Cyclops, and a talking bird. If he took them to the streets, it would be like announcing, “Yes, I was the one who destroyed the inn last night.” Left with no options, A Jie had to settle for the desolate wilds.
“Nope, I’m feeling a bit hungry; I’ll go see if I can scrounge up something to eat first. After I’m fed, I’ll think about our next move. You three just sit quietly and wait for me, got it?”
“Oh! Don’t worry, we’ll be right here waiting for you. But remember to bring us back some food, or else we won’t mind eating you instead!”
Before A Jie left, the bird made sure to remind him with a threat to bring back something edible.
“Got it. Just behave yourselves. If anyone finds you here, take care of them. You don’t mind eating people, do you?”
Since these three didn’t mind eating themselves, consuming humans shouldn’t be a problem for them either.
“Yeah. Eating humans is totally normal for magical beasts like us. So you’d better find us plenty of food to fill our bellies, got it?”
“Understood. I’m off.”
Ignoring the annoying bird, A Jie stepped outside the dilapidated building to find food in the city.
The methods for obtaining food were simple: either hunt and cook it himself or buy ready-made food with money. But A Jie had neither hunting skills nor any money to trade.
Fortunately, Bield City had enough discarded resources for a thief like him to survive. That resource was dumpsters, which often contained food tossed away by others merely because it was “expired” or “inedible.” What others saw as trash was akin to treasure chests in RPGs for thieves like A Jie.
“Oh, so much bread! Looks like I won’t have to starve today.”
He arrived at the back street of his go-to bakery, rummaging through plenty of discarded bread that had been thrown out for being past its expiration date. A Jie had often scavenged resources from this bakery’s dumpster before.
“Let’s see if I can find leftover drinks or something. Oh, luck is on my side!”
A Jie pulled out a bottle of nearly half-full mineral water from the dumpster. After a night of thirst, he desperately needed it. He quickly unscrewed the cap and poured it down his throat.
“Ah, much better. Now I need to find something to feed those three; this is so annoying. I really shouldn’t have let them out; they’d be better off still trapped in that crystal.”
Reflecting on his impulse to release the three magical beasts last night, A Jie couldn’t help but feel regretful. Now he had to gather food for them. It was all that pesky waiter’s fault; if he hadn’t called the police or trapped him with that barrier, he wouldn’t have released them!
“Damn it, I should’ve slowly tortured him to death instead of making it easy for him.”
Thinking back to that infuriating waiter, A Jie punched the wall beside him. If that waiter hadn’t meddled, he wouldn’t have found himself in this terrible situation.
But being angry was pointless now; that waiter was already dead, and complaining wouldn’t change anything. With no other choice, A Jie continued his search for other trash cans to scavenge.
“Yake, this stir-fried buckwheat crepe is delicious! You should try some!”
Just as A Jie was rummaging through the dumpster, a familiar voice unexpectedly reached his ears. He looked up to see the source of the sound. Sure enough, it was the golden-haired girl.
“Really? Well, I won’t hold back then.”
Beside her, Yake saw Aierjisi offer him a crepe and bent down to take a bite.
“Yum, this is actually pretty tasty! I need to get one for myself too.”
“Ah, I’ll have two more!”
“With all that crepe, are you sure you’ll still have room for lunch?”
“Huh? Are you underestimating my appetite? Don’t forget who finished breakfast this morning!”
“If you hadn’t said anything, I would’ve forgotten that you’re a bottomless pit.”
Watching the two of them smile blissfully at each other, A Jie’s irritation grew.
Damn it, why can they walk happily on the street, enjoying each other’s food while I’m here digging through dumpsters for scraps?
“I’m so pissed; this damned world should just be destroyed already.”
Recalling his life, A Jie’s anger intensified. Ever since he was abandoned by his parents in the Old District, if it weren’t for the Boss and the other thieves raising him, he would’ve perished in that cold night.
Even growing up didn’t bring A Jie any relief; he had to steal to survive alongside other thieves and had been caught by guards many times, enduring their brutal torture.
Even now, the only ‘home’ he had was destroyed by that damned woman.
Thinking about his miserable life, A Jie’s resentment for the world deepened. If he had known his life would be this tragic, he would have never wished to be born.
“Perfect, in a few days, it should be the City Lord’s party. Everyone in the city will gather to celebrate, right? Just right, I’ll make you guys scream in agony.”
Mulling over the upcoming party, A Jie made up his mind to create some chaos, letting blood and screams fill the city and serving those blissfully happy citizens a taste of his pain.
