Chapter 126: So Impressive
The Celebration Feast was still in full swing. Most of the food had been devoured by Aierjisi and Carl, this couple from the Blood Clan. Thankfully, there was plenty of food this time; it should be enough to fill them both up!
“Hey? Isn’t that Yaser? What a coincidence, are you here to grab some food too?”
While grabbing some food, Yake spotted Yaser, who was also here for the same purpose.
“Yep, I’m just here to get some food. Speaking of which, Mr. Yake… Are you really taking that much all at once?”
Yaser could hardly contain himself at the sight of the gigantic plate piled high with food Yake was holding.
“It’s not like I want to eat that much; it’s mainly for Aier and Carl! Every time I come to get food, those two always make me help them out. By the way, where’s your mistress? Aren’t you supposed to be bringing her some food?”
Unlike Yake’s overflowing plate, Yaser’s had barely any food, most of which was fruit.
“As for the young lady, she’s not as obsessed with food as your Little Princess. Rather than eating, she prefers drinking the wine here, so all I need to do is bring her some dishes to go with it.”
Ah, that makes sense. Weirafiya does indeed enjoy her drinks.
“But isn’t this a rare opportunity? Are you really just going to eat those few fruits? Don’t you want some meat?”
Looking at the fruits on Yaser’s plate, Yake couldn’t help but be curious. Do rich folks really just love fruit like this?
“Personally, I prefer these refreshing fruits over meat. It might sound strange; even my father has said the same.”
Coming from a noble family, Yaser favored these light, refreshing fruits over heavy meats. Throughout his life, he’s been told he was a bit odd. Even his father thought he was a little peculiar.
“No, that’s not strange. Everyone has their own preferences; it’s totally normal to like fruit.”
“Yeah. You’re the first person to say I’m normal.”
“What? Just liking fruit makes you a freak?”
“Because there aren’t many people who use fruit as a main dish. I’ve never seen another person who does, except for myself.”
“Well, that’s probably because you haven’t met many fruit-as-main-dish enthusiasts. By the way, what kind of fruits are those you’re holding? I’ve never seen them before.”
Looking at the fruits on Yaser’s plate that he couldn’t name, Yake felt a bit embarrassed. He felt like a clueless country bumpkin, though he really did come from a small town.
“This one? I’m seeing it for the first time too; it’s called Fennel Fruit. I read about it in a book. I hear it’s quite tasty and provides a lot of energy, popular among travelers. Want to give it a try, Mr. Yake? I already have.”
“Then I won’t hold back.”
Yake reached out and popped a slice of Fennel Fruit into his mouth.
Hmm! This flavor! It’s really good, super sweet, and the juice bursts forth in a refreshing way. In the midst of this greasy Celebration Feast, this fruit is perfect for balancing it out.
“Wow, this is tasty! Where can I get some? I need to grab a few.”
“You can find Fennel Fruits over there, along with other fruits too! You can grab some of these as well.”
“What’s this? It looks like a Hami Melon.”
This thing resembled a Hami Melon, yet somehow didn’t. Yake had eaten Hami Melon before, and their skins were always green, but this one had a blue skin.
“This isn’t just any Hami Melon; this is a rare Blue Hami Melon. Books describe it as the ‘Skyward Hami Melon’; usually, you’ll find only one in a thousand Hami Melons.”
“Seriously? That sounds really expensive!”
“Of course! I hear one Skyward Hami Melon can sell for three gold coins.”
“Three gold coins?! My goodness, this thing must be pretty rare!”
Thinking back, his Golden Dagger had cost him about three gold coins as well. This Hami Melon was worth the same as his dagger!
This King Gaia sure doesn’t hold back when it comes to dishing out items like these.
“So, how does this Hami Melon taste?”
No matter how rare a fruit is, if it doesn’t taste good, it’s all for nothing.
“Do you want to try a bite? Just wait a second. Hey, waiter over there, can you slice this Hami Melon for us?”
“Sure thing.”
Hearing someone call out to him, the waiter walked over to take the Hami Melon.
“Wait? You… aren’t you Ouxs?!”
As the waiter approached, Yake realized with shock that he wasn’t just any waiter; he was an old acquaintance!
To be precise, they weren’t exactly old friends. They had only met a few times.
“Hey? Ouxs? Oh, now that you mention it, it really is you! Why are you wearing a waiter’s uniform here? I thought you were the waiter!”
Yaser also just noticed that this waiter was Ouxs. How did a sage from the royal palace end up dressed as a servant?
“Oh, it’s a long story. I just didn’t want to draw attention, so I wore the servant’s uniform.”
“Ah, there you are, Ouxs!”
Upon hearing that voice, Ouxs suddenly shivered. He turned to see Mios.
“There you are, Ouxs! Gaia and I have been looking all over for you. Why are you dressed as a waiter? Doesn’t that make it harder to find you?”
Mios hugged Ouxs around the waist, rubbing his face against him. Ouxs pushed him away with a sigh.
“Come on, Mios, I’m currently slicing melons for guests. Can’t this wait?”
“No, Mr. Ouxs… you really don’t need to be slicing melons yourself.”
“What’s that supposed to mean? Do you think I can’t slice a melon properly? You’re really underestimating me!”
Ouxs pulled out a small knife from his waist and, with a flick of his wrist, sliced the melon in one swift motion, scooping out all the seeds.
“Wow… so impressive! You can slice melons like that, huh?”
Yake was shocked by his skill. He thought that someone like a sage would be hopeless at chopping fruit.
“Well, if I’m going to pretend to be a waiter, then I have to do it so well that nobody suspects otherwise.”
In fact, while wandering around, he had often been mistaken for a servant. And among those people, not many recognized that the one they were using for labor was actually the royal palace’s sage!
