Chapter 127. A Brief Interlude in Energy Calibration
After reaching a consensus with Qin Shili, he began contemplating a cultivation plan, seeing himself now as a teacher and Qin Shili as his student.
From a ranking perspective, teaching someone at the Seventh Level while being at the Second Level seemed ridiculous, but this was a demonic cultivation technique. Lin Nuo was a master-level practitioner, while Qin Shili was merely a novice. She was the one really gaining from this.
“What can we do before we head out?”
“We can start with some energy calibration. You’ve seen the books, but that’s just the theory. You need to discard the luck theory you learned at the Xuanyun Sect. Before this, you couldn’t even begin practicing the foundational Qi technique, right?”
“That’s right.”
“Exactly. In demonic cultivation, the practice of Qi is fundamentally different. Come over and sit.”
Lin Nuo crossed his legs in a meditative position, while Qin Shili complied, tucking her long legs and adjusting her dress before sitting cross-legged herself.
This posture was merely a means for the two of them to harmonize their energies through mutual hand contact.
Honestly speaking, it was pretty absurd for a Second Level practitioner to calibrate the energy of a Seventh Level one, but Lin Nuo was a special case. He wasn’t an average Second Level, and he had some tricks up his sleeve in energy calibration.
Last time, he easily drew out the cold energy from Ruo’er. That was a piece of cake.
He possessed many odd skills but found that his Spirit Level was too low—simply put, he didn’t have enough mana, and many of his techniques were unusable.
Qin Shili was quite obedient to Lin Nuo’s instructions. Right now, she fully trusted him, almost as if she had handed her future over to him.
Having always been independent, for the first time, she chose to rely on this man.
It wasn’t a decision born of a moment or mere words; instead, it stemmed from the cumulative impact of Lin Nuo’s actions over time, subtly influencing her.
Their last conversation had been particularly resonant for her, warming her cold heart and making her feel that this man was worth trusting.
“Okay, let’s do this. On three.”
“Alright.”
Following Lin Nuo’s cue, Qin Shili extended her hands to meet his.
Starting to circulate their energies, Lin Nuo aimed to adjust the flow of Qi within Qin Shili, transforming it into an environment conducive to demonic cultivation.
Lin Nuo closed his eyes, focusing intently—molding Qin Shili into a female demon lord was a significant task, and he was determined to do his utmost to adjust her Qi environment to help her adapt to this state.
However, Qin Shili was at the Seventh Level, and the Qi state she cultivated in the Xuanyun Sect was deeply entrenched, making it difficult to change right away.
Still, Lin Nuo tried his best; any changes, no matter how small, were worth it.
Being at the Second Level, it was genuinely an uphill battle to alter the Qi state of a Seventh Level practitioner. Before long, he was sweating profusely.
It seemed like there were multiple layers of barriers in Qin Shili’s Qi, and Lin Nuo was struggling to break through the first one.
Alright, time to give it all I’ve got!
Lin Nuo suddenly exerted intense energy, finally breaking through the first layer, but due to the excessive strain, he felt utterly drained in an instant.
His once firm hands turned soft and weak.
I can’t hold on any longer.
The calibration process halted as Lin Nuo leaned forward.
Qin Shili noticed him toppling toward her and instinctively caught him.
Lin Nuo landed in Qin Shili’s embrace, and she gently held him.
“What’s wrong with you?”
“Just… expended a bit too much energy.”
“Then take a rest.”
Qin Shili didn’t let go of him or try to set him down underneath a tree to rest; she simply held him close, allowing him to bury his head in her bosom.
Qin Shili was naturally beautiful—breathtakingly so, with a graceful figure and long, alluring legs. Her soft curves were enviable.
Now Lin Nuo was nestled there, unable to muster strength, but Qin Shili didn’t seem to mind at all; rather, she seemed to enjoy his presence.
“Are you… alright with this?” Lin Nuo asked.
“What do you mean by ‘alright’?”
“About me… being like this.”
“Not at all. Are you bothered by it?”
“How could I not be? I’m definitely reaping the benefits here.”
“Well then, I suppose I’m benefiting too.”
“……”
Lin Nuo suddenly found himself at a loss for words. This wasn’t right; he was the one being shameless here, so why did it feel like she was being the rogue?
While he really was gaining something from this, he also felt embarrassed and awkward.
Here he was supposed to help her with energy calibration, and now he had ended up in Qin Shili’s embrace.
As expected, being a Second Level practitioner was just too pathetic; it felt so embarrassing.
“I’ve managed to complete the first step for you. How do you feel?” Lin Nuo said weakly.
“Mm, indeed, I can feel something different.”
“Just hang on while I recover; I’ll soon move on to the next step of adjustments.”
“Take your time; no rush.”
“By the way, are you okay with me taking advantage of you like this?” Lin Nuo still found himself being physically close to her, held tenderly by her.
“Is this really taking advantage?”
“Isn’t it?”
“Oh, so this is what taking advantage feels like. Consider this my way of returning the favor.”
“……”
Lin Nuo couldn’t help but marvel at how Qin Shili could hold him close while saying such things so nonchalantly.
The thoughts of this woman were truly bizarre.
He was now close enough to her that he could catch her scent; her silvery hair tumbled onto his cheek, bringing an even sweeter aroma.
“You should try circulating your energy using the sensation you’ve found, and start practicing the demonic cultivation techniques.”
“Understood.”
“And don’t push yourself too hard, or the old timers from the Xuanyun Sect will catch on.”
“Got it.”
“And…”
“Understood.”
“…I haven’t even finished speaking yet…”
“Understood.”
“……”
What’s with this girl? Did she lose her mind and become an emotionless parrot?
Qin Shili whispered, “If your energy is weak, stop talking. I’ll wait for you to recover.”
Thus, she held him close while waiting for him to regain his strength.
“By the way, I have Meat Floss Cake.”
“Can I even eat in this state?”
“You can eat a little. It will help you recover faster.”
Qin Shili pulled out a piece of Meat Floss Cake from her dress, tearing off a small piece and offering it to Lin Nuo’s mouth.
“Eat up.”
With it right by his mouth, Lin Nuo was more than happy to take a bite.
It was far too little; completely insufficient.
Qin Shili instinctively offered another piece, and Lin Nuo immediately took a big bite of that too. Some crumbs of the meat floss fell onto her dress, but she didn’t mind at all.
And so, instead of practicing, the two spent a good part of the day feeding each other.
……
Lin Nuo then visited the Hunyung Hall. The head of the Xuanyun Sect had ordered him to undergo a spiritual realm assessment.
But Lin Nuo thought it was a waste of time since he already knew the outcome—there weren’t any avenues for improvement at the moment. Still, he figured he might as well follow orders.
He placed his palm on the Tianxuan Stone to leave his imprint. The stone emitted a glow, and the headmaster walked over to check it, announcing the results.
And this outcome was something Lin Nuo hadn’t anticipated.
