Chapter 127: Give Me Fruit
“So why is the Royal Palace’s Sage dressing up as a waiter today?”
“You ask that? Actually, I have my own reasons for this outfit.”
Ouxs wore a bitter expression; if it weren’t for being forced, he certainly wouldn’t want to dress up like a waiter.
“Your own reasons, huh? Sounds like you’re having a tough time too.”
Arthur could relate; working in the Royal Palace came with plenty of burdens one had to accept.
“Well, it’s not really a ‘burden’ per se. I’m just dressing up as a waiter to avoid someone.”
“Avoid someone? Are they that scary?”
“Well, kind of. She’s the most terrifying woman out there. If I can help it, I really don’t want to run into her.”
As he spoke, Ouxs clutched his face in despair. That woman was someone he would never wish to encounter. Usually, he managed to avoid her, but this celebration feast was different; she would definitely be around. To dodge her, he had no choice but to wear this ridiculous waiter attire.
“Seems like this woman must be pretty terrifying.”
Seeing Ouxs’ expression, Yake inexplicably understood his feelings.
“Mios!”
A sweet female voice reached their ears. Arthur, Yake, and Mios turned to look in the direction of the voice, while Ouxs froze in place, shuddering at the sound.
A blonde woman came running, calling out Mios’ name.
“Isn’t that Natasha? It’s been forever! How have you been? You look well.”
Mios embraced the woman, getting all cozy with her.
“Uh… who is this lady?”
Arthur noticed Ouxs’ odd reaction and began to suspect that the woman he was avoiding was indeed her.
“Hello! Nice to meet you. My name is Natasha, Ouxs’ fiancée, and I’m also a Knight Captain serving the Royal Palace.”
Knight Captain? This woman?
Yake looked at her slender arms; no matter how he saw it, she didn’t look much like a knight.
“Hey, Mios, have you seen Ouxs? He should be here, but I can’t find him anywhere in the palace. Do you know where he is? Please tell me if you do!”
Natasha tugged at Mios’ arm, shaking him relentlessly, making him groan in pain, “Ouch! Natasha, could you be a bit gentler? My arm’s going to come off!”
“And Ouxs is just over there, woo-woo…”
Before Yake could finish, Arthur quickly covered his mouth and dragged him away, stopping him from selling out their buddy.
“Yake, this matter has nothing to do with us. It’s better not to get involved.”
Arthur knew all too well how deep the noble traps could go; if he jumped in without a clue, he might end up not knowing how he met his demise. If he could avoid the mess, he would.
“Alright, I get it. We’ll just pretend like nothing happened, okay?”
“Exactly! Yake, you’re a smart guy. Some things are better left unknown. I need to return to the young lady, so I’ll take my leave.”
“Oh.”
After temporarily parting ways with Arthur, Yake approached the area where the fruits were kept.
“Wow! This is great; there are so many fruits I usually never see.”
He loaded up on a bunch of fruits and returned to Aierjisi’s side.
“Aier, where have you been? You took so long to come back! I was thinking I’d go grab some food if you didn’t return.”
“Well, why wait for me? You could’ve just gone and gotten your food. I just got a bunch of fruits; I’ve had too much meat lately, and my stomach is getting greasy. These refreshing fruits are perfect for a change. Of course, I also brought back what you wanted; here they are.”
“Fruits? I haven’t had fruits in ages. What do we have here?”
Aierjisi looked at the fruits in Yake’s bowl, not recognizing most of them. After 300 years, it seemed this world had plenty of fruits she didn’t know about.
“I highly recommend this one, the Heavenly Garden Hami Melon. Young Arthur strongly recommended it; it tastes quite good! Want to give it a try? And this is Fennel Fruit.”
Yake fed Aierjisi some sliced fruits, hoping she’d enjoy them.
“Mmm! This is pretty good! After all that greasy food, having these refreshing fruits is definitely a nice change. Alright, I’ll go get some fruits too; once I’m done with these, I don’t want any more greasy food.”
Aierjisi got up, ready to grab more fruits, but Yake quickly pushed her back down.
“Aier, wait until you finish what’s on your plate before going for more. We can’t waste food!”
Yake pointed at the massive pile of fish and meat left uneaten on Aierjisi’s plate. How could she even think about not finishing all that food? That would be such a waste!
“But I don’t want any more! After eating the fruit, I just can’t handle more greasy food.”
“No way! Wasting food is shameful. You must finish everything before getting more!”
Yake looked at Aierjisi with a serious face, as if he weren’t her servant, but her father instead.
“Since she can’t eat, I’ll just take those leftovers! I’m still hungry.”
Just then, Carl chimed in and snatched the food off Aierjisi’s plate, taking his time to enjoy it.
“See? My Father King took all the food! Can I go get fruits now?”
“Fine, fine. Since we are avoiding waste, you can go, but do you know where to find the fruits?”
“I don’t know.”
“Then don’t even think about going! How can you go get fruits if you don’t know where to find them?”
“From here, go out, take the second pillar on the left, then veer right and keep straight until you reach the fourth table on the left side.”
“Oh, got it! But can’t you just go get them for me? You already told me the location.”
“You should consider your servant’s legs too! I just sat down less than a minute ago, and you want me to get up again to fetch you fruits? Don’t you think that’s a bit much?”
Yake could only protest with his own dissatisfaction at Aierjisi’s demands.
