Chapter 128

Jema, who explained the item creation magic, stepped up to teach.

“I was already teaching it.”

“You were going to teach lightning right after this anyway.”

Jema accurately predicted what had crossed my mind.

I decided to take a quick look at what she was teaching.

Jema promptly drew her sword and ignited a flame.

“Want to give it a try?”

Without sharing any tricks, Jema threw me into the deep end.

“Can you at least tell me something….”

“Shh. She’s concentrating.”

Melorna focused and pulled out her sword.

It seemed she was accustomed to handling mana as a green aura enveloped her sword.

Flame!

A blue flame that was completely different from Jema’s engulfed Melorna’s sword.

“You did it.”

“Why is my flame blue?”

When Melorna asked about the color of her flame, Jema answered simply.

“Because everyone has different properties of mana.”

“Properties?”

“Each race has its own, and mixed breeds are even more special.”

Every individual has their own uniqueness.

You can determine suitable magic for a person just by the color of their flame.

“You’re probably more in tune with water than fire.”

“That’s right! I’ve been able to use water-related magic since I was a kid. But I don’t really like water.”

Melorna said as she perked her cat ears.

“How about ice then?”

“I’ve never used it.”

After that, I began attending Jema’s magic class with Melorna.

Thanks to Jema’s magic class, I could now use one more spell.

“When did your understanding of magic improve so much?”

“Why does it matter?”

“Look, she’s thinking hard about what I’m saying, but you’re already applying it.”

“I’ll explain it to you later.”

I couldn’t explain everything right now.

Jema, who found it quite suspicious, seemed to decide to let it slide for now and continued the lesson.

Jema’s class was significantly more challenging than the ones at the Academy.

She usually explained things at a level that others couldn’t comprehend.

Melorna listened but had a completely confused expression.

“Well, anyway, it’ll just click for you.”

“Uh… Thank you. I’ll give it a go.”

“Just practice for now.”

Jema told us to try practicing while she went off to one side of the rooftop to admire the cityscape.

“Help me.”

“With what?”

“I didn’t understand anything!”

The magic Jema taught Melorna was how to create ice arrows.

The method was similar to how Revelin created mana swords.

You just needed to apply that to shape the ice into arrows.

However, Jema complicatedly explained it with some theory.

Only someone like Headmaster Adele could possibly understand that.

“Magic arrow.”

I created an arrow and showed it to Melorna.

“This is roughly what you need to make with ice.”

“Have you tried it?”

“No, it’s my first time too.”

After dispelling the magic arrow I created, I tried making one out of ice.

It had been a long time since I made ice.

I formed a square piece of ice and shaped it into an arrow, resulting in three arrows.

When Melorna saw the three arrows, she marveled at them.

“They’re so transparent.”

“Just give it a try.”

Melorna sat down, took a deep breath, and concentrated.

When I looked through her mana affinity, massive amounts of mana swirled around her.

A huge chunk of ice was created.

“Ice Arrow!”

The ice chunk buzzed above Melorna and me like a bee.

That wasn’t an arrow; it was basically a catapult.

The massive chunk of ice looked like it could easily smash through a castle wall.

Seeing this late, Jema actually patted Melorna’s head, saying she did well.

“That’s not an arrow, is it?”

“Well, either way, isn’t it more useful than a single arrow?”

Considering combat efficiency, it certainly was.

I realized that the same magic could turn into completely different spells depending on the user.

It was a bit extreme, but.

Melorna thanked me instead of Jema and went off.

“Okay, so do you have time to answer the question I asked earlier?”

I glanced at Emerald Bay city and gathered my thoughts.

I needed one more person to provide a proper explanation.

“Wizel.”

Wizel appeared from the bracelet, looking sleepy.

“Why is a fairy….”

“Explain about the heart.”

Wizel explained to Jema about the heart, which was one of the relics left by dragons.

“Did your understanding of magic increase since you got that?”

“Well, yes.”

“Is there another one?”

“No. That was left by the dragons for Ririan.”

Hearing Wizel’s words, Jema looked quite disappointed.

“But what’s your role?”

Jema asked Wizel while looking him up and down.

Thinking about it, Wizel stayed attached to the bracelet without doing anything significant.

“I’m a guide. Would you like to go looking for treasures nearby?”

“Okay. Where is it?”

“It’s nearby.”

Suddenly, the plan for the two of us to go treasure hunting was quickly coming together.

“Wait a minute. We have things to do tonight.”

“Oh, right.”

“I think it would be better to find the treasure first?”

Wizel appeared quite obsessed with the treasure nearby.

“Is it important?”

“It will help you.”

Wizel replied seriously that it would be helpful.

“Alright.”

I replied that I would go look for that treasure.

“If I’m not back by nightfall, you guys can head out without me.”

“Are you going now?”

“Yeah, you said it was nearby.”

I entrusted the follow-up to Jema and took off from the rooftop.

Wizel pointed in a direction, and I started flying that way.

From a considerable height, the ground looked very small.

At this point, it would be impossible for anyone on the ground to spot me.

As I moved north from Emerald Bay, a mountain began to appear.

Wizel was pointing beyond that mountain.

“Weren’t you supposed to say it was close?”

“If it’s inside the same Roran, isn’t it close enough?”

No matter how small Roran’s territory compared to Latnia’s, it wasn’t that small.

Crossing over the mountain Wizel pointed at would definitely be several kilometers from Emerald Bay.

As I attempted to fly over one mountain, a fierce wind made me hesitate for a moment.

“Let’s go down for now.”

I descended to the mountain visible below me.

It was a desolate mountain composed of rocks, with hardly a blade of grass in sight.

It looked like there was neither treasure nor scrap metal around.

I started exploring the mountain with Wizel as my guide.

“Look around here. There’s nothing. You think there’s a treasure?”

“Definitely.”

Despite the confident answer, the area I needed to search was too wide.

It would have been nice if Wizel could pinpoint a precise location, but unfortunately, it seemed he didn’t have that feature.

With the entire mountain made of rocks, there weren’t many places where something could be hidden.

Reaching the summit of the rocky mountain, I looked over the surroundings.

I could see a nameless city in the distance.

“It seems like there’s nothing here.”

“It’s nearby.”

Wizel examined the surroundings and pointed to a place where a rock was jutting out.

“Here.”

“Hey, this is just a rock.”

A sharp rock that anyone could see wasn’t anything special.

“Don’t tell me this rock is the treasure?”

“No. Just break it.”

It wasn’t a difficult request, so I jabbed my fist into the rock.

As the pointed top of the rock broke, something beyond it was slightly revealed.

“Huh?”

I quickly smashed the rock in front of me to completely clear it away.

Behind the pointed rock was a narrow passage that a person could barely fit through.

It looked too narrow to worm my way inside.

Changing into the shape of a young child made it a bit easier to enter.

“It’s convenient to be able to adjust your size.”

“It’s called transformation. More elegantly, it’s called polymorph.”

As I entered, the interior expanded more and more.

“Light.”

When the light from outside no longer illuminated the inside, I used magic to create light.

At the end, the interior was completely covered in moss, and I heard the sound of trickling water from somewhere.

Next to where the water flowed was a tree, already dead and dried up.

It was hard to understand why there would be a dead tree next to flowing water.

“Is this the treasure?”

“The treasure is over there.”

Wizel pointed to a small puddle where water was pooled.

As I approached the puddle, I saw something faintly glowing inside.

When I reached in to retrieve it, it turned out to be a small stone.

The stone had unknown characters inscribed on it and emitted a faint glow.

“Is this a magic stone?”

“This isn’t just an ordinary magic stone. The characters etched there are fairy symbols.”

“Really? What does it say?”

“It says ‘Explosion of Light.’”

I had never seen a magic stone inscribed with characters before.

The magic stone Jema had looked expensive and jewel-like.

However, what I obtained now was merely a worthless stone.

The only reason I recognized it as a magic stone was because I could sense mana emanating from it; otherwise, I wouldn’t have known.

“Alright, now just swallow that.”

“What?”

“Swallow it.”

Wizel mimed bringing his hand to his mouth.

“No way I’m eating a stone….”

“Don’t worry, just swallow it.”

The stone was small enough to swallow, but it psychologically felt quite repulsive.

Moreover, I had never heard of anyone eating a magic stone before.

“Ah, whatever!”

I put the magic stone in my mouth and swallowed it.

As the stone moved down my throat, it got stuck for a moment before melting away like snow.

“I swallowed it.”

“Then let’s get out.”

As I left the cave, I felt as if my vision was brighter even without the light magic.

As I stepped outside, the sun was setting.

“If you find four more of those stones you just swallowed, will you go looking for them?”

“If the effects are good.”

“It will definitely help you.”
