Chapter 128: History Endures, Heroes Never Fall
In response to Dark’s sudden question, Professor Kazel couldn’t help but frown and said, “This is not something you should know.”
Dark, however, believed he had found the key point. He immediately responded, “Professor, I don’t want to delve too deeply.”
“Let me think about it,” he said, leaning back in his chair and tapping the desk rhythmically with his middle finger.
As the clock’s hands slowly moved, the atmosphere in the office grew increasingly tense.
Finally, Professor Kazel spoke up, “Since you have developed curiosity, you will surely find relevant documents. However, I must remind you that I believe you understand how to avoid danger, but other students may not. Therefore, it’s best if you keep what I’m about to tell you to yourself.”
Dark curled his lips and smiled, “Professor, I know my lips are tight.”
Ignoring the profound meaning behind his words, Professor Kazel continued, “I can only tell you so much. Here are the answers to your questions.”
Dark quickly focused his attention and listened intently.
Professor Kazel: “St. Maryan’s Castle does not exist in any location on the continent.”
Dark: “Isn’t it in the north of the kingdom?”
Professor Kazel shook his head, “Of course not. The St. Maryan we see now is merely a projection of the castle. The castle fundamentally does not exist within the territory of the kingdom, so it is not subject to the kingdom’s jurisdiction.”
Never having expected such an answer, Dark was so surprised that he forgot to drink his tea.
Professor Kazel: “You should know that the spectator area and the dueling arena of the Outdoor Duel Arena are not in the same plane. The audiences from all over the kingdom do not actually enter the academy. The same applies to Traveler’s Street. The stone pedestal in the Lotus Pavilion is one of the switching hubs.”
Dark was astonished, “So where exactly is the true location of the castle?”
Professor Kazel: “It is located on the axis of time and space.”
Dark looked bewildered, “Where exactly is that?”
Professor Kazel: “A realm beyond our current knowledge. All we need to know is that the establishment of the castle can be traced back to ancient times, and all history since its establishment will leave imprints within the castle. The authenticity of these imprints depends on the depth of history.”
…
Professor Kazel’s words sparked even greater imagination.
When Dark left the office, he finally understood what Professor Didi meant by “replicating history.”
Four eras ago, the legendary alchemist Martin sacrificed 5,764,801 people to create the Moon Goddess’s tear. Professor Didi cleverly used the castle’s mechanism to replicate the historical imprints, thereby minimizing the scale of the sacrifice and achieving the same experimental results.
Even though the knowledge involved is beyond ordinary people, it is roughly like this:
“In other words, whether it’s the Moon Temple, the goddess statue, or the frescoes and Minotaur from last night, they are all projections of history?”
Dark’s mind was in turmoil. He had never felt such intense curiosity about anything before.
To clear his mind, he used the Technique of the Shadow God.
“Following the trajectory of history, glimpsing the truth amidst confusion and fog.”
“No wonder this era is named after St. Maryan; it truly is the holy land of the world.”
“Whether it’s Merlin, Dalton, Da Vinci… most of the great magus who laid the foundation of magic, came from St. Maryan.”
…
After a quick lunch, Dark went to the library and spent a long time finding books about time and space.
However, although he recognized every word, he found them incomprehensible when put together.
This rapidly cooled his brain temperature back to normal.
In the end, he borrowed a book titled “The Biography of Merlin—The Greatest Magus in History.”
This might become his go-to book for entertainment in the coming days.
…
At five minutes past two o’clock.
All first-year students from the four houses were already seated in the classroom.
This was not common for students who usually delayed as much as possible.
But given that Principal Altair was personally teaching, it was perfectly normal.
Principal Altair did not have much time.
Before the arrival of the new History of Magic professor, first-year students would likely continue to take their History of Magic classes in the same room.
The students from the four houses were clearly divided.
Dark flipped through the textbook occasionally, but his thoughts were not on the upcoming lesson.
Only when Principal Altair entered the classroom did he snap out of his reverie.
Today, Principal Altair remained calm and collected, as if she had handled the Moon Goddess matter properly.
Regardless, the History of Magic class was finally back on track.
Unlike Professor Didi, Principal Altair did not read directly from the textbook. Instead, she shared her personal experiences, lightly recounting the hardships and twists of life during the time when demons still existed.
“When heroes like the Hero and Valkyrie had yet to grow and end the demon age, St. Maryan, as the bastion of humanity’s final hope, faced countless attempts by demons to spy and invade.”
“Our professors have made sacrifices to protect the next generation from demons, sacrifices no less than those of the heroes.”
“But peaceful times often make people forget past sacrifices and the brutality of war.”
“People also forget that it was not a deity who guided us through the darkness.”
“The History of Magic is a chronicle from magic to magus, and also the epic written by heroes.”
“On a whim today, I will talk about the history of heroes, starting with the Hero.”
“Hero—Brett Gold!”
No one would fail to be interested in a hero who saved the world.
People always find a favorite hero among many.
Although Brett Gold was promoted as a typical hero, he was just one of many heroes.
But today’s topic was still about the Hero.
Vit, as the son of the Hero, was clearly excited, and the students’ gazes towards him became much kinder.
However, it was not what the students expected.
Principal Altair told a story of the mischievous and naughty student days of Hero Brett…
“No one is perfect from birth.”
-She seemed to want to instill such an idea in the students.
But the students didn’t seem to grasp the point well, and the classroom gradually filled with joyful atmosphere.
Vit lowered his head deeply.
Despite this, Brett still revealed his potential as a hero in the story.
Although Vit blushed, he still listened attentively.
Principal Altair occasionally mentioned the Valkyrie of the same year as the hero, which was when Dark listened most intently.
According to Principal Altair’s description,
No one could have imagined that a little girl who loved knitting and cats would eventually become an unyielding spiritual leader on the battlefield.
