Chapter 1287: Control of the Sacred Beasts
At the peak of the Sacred Mountain, a radiant lady appeared.
Not simple at all.
Looking at her gentle face, she didn’t seem malevolent.
Of course, only an elementary school kid would judge a person by their looks; if it were that easy, many would have already met their end, as there are plenty of people who look good but are not.
Su Kexin and Luo Xiaoxue shook their heads repeatedly, indicating they did not recognize this female Sacred Master.
It was possible they had triggered some NPC task dialogue, waiting for a quest to be assigned.
“So, what’s your surname, elder sister, and where do you come from? You wouldn’t happen to be the guardian spirit of the mountain, would you?”
Lin Nuo directly asked the mysterious female Sacred Master, whose expression showed a hint of excitement, seemingly delighted by their arrival.
“Finally, you’ve come.”
“Wait, do you know them or do you know me? Stop with the riddles; my brain isn’t sharp enough to guess.”
Lin Nuo complained. Why just say “you’ve come” instead of introducing yourself?
“Young man, you are a demon.”
“So what? Are you planning to kill me?”
Lin Nuo wasn’t going to be polite; this woman clearly spoke in riddles, making things all mysterious.
“I don’t mean any harm; please don’t misunderstand. I actually admire you for bringing them here, and unharmed at that. Historically, this has been unprecedented in both the Sacred Realm and the Demon Realm.”
“So, do you enjoy being a riddler? Fine, we’ll just head home for dinner and have tea together another time.”
Lin Nuo didn’t want to drag this out any longer; what on earth had she summoned? A master of riddles?
The woman smiled gently, unfazed by Lin Nuo’s words, and softly said:
“I am Xiao Ling, once the queen of the Tian Du Kingdom. I stayed here to protect the Sacred Beast of the kingdom. My true body has perished; this is my soul.”
“Tian Du Kingdom? That name seems somewhat familiar.”
Lin Nuo thought for a moment and then turned to look at Luo Xiaoxue.
“Is this your hometown, Xiaoxue?”
“Um… I think that’s what the impersonator of my father said back then.”
Luo Xiaoxue nodded, having no concept of the Tian Du Kingdom, just a name.
Lin Nuo wondered if this was related to Luo Xiaoxue.
It should be since she was the one who summoned it.
“Is your current name Xiaoxue, miss?”
The woman turned to ask Luo Xiaoxue. Luo Xiaoxue glanced at Lin Nuo, who nodded in approval, prompting her to reply:
“He is my fiancé; it’s just an affectionate term. My real name is Luo Xiaoxue. Do you know me?”
“Luo Xiaoxue… what a coincidence, you’ve had ties with snow before.”
“What do you mean? You know about me?”
Luo Xiaoxue was very curious, feeling this female spirit seemed to know quite a bit.
Xiao Ling smiled in relief; seeing Luo Xiaoxue doing well was enough for her.
“It’s nothing. You should know something about yourself, like regarding the Sacred Beasts.”
“Yeah, I’ve heard that I seem to be able to summon certain Sacred Beasts.”
“Yes, you can. But I hope you don’t summon them; it’s better if they remain asleep. However… if you don’t interact with them, they might be exploited by the Handa Alliance.”
Xiao Ling sighed deeply. The control of the Divine Sacred Beasts of the Tian Du Kingdom was in her hands, hidden away. But she couldn’t hold on much longer; if her soul scattered, then the Handa Alliance could exploit them.
Lin Nuo felt uncomfortable listening to her. This woman spoke half-truths; it was like he’d need to draw a diagram and work out hundreds of formulas just to reach a conclusion.
Damn it, does everyone here enjoy speaking in half-truths?
A queen…?
Speaking of which, Luo Xiaoxue was of princess level; could it be?
Lin Nuo noticed the way this woman looked at Luo Xiaoxue—it was like a doting mother.
Clearing his throat, he interrupted their conversation:
“You just mentioned being the queen of the Tian Du Kingdom, so are you her biological mother?”
“Um…”
The woman hesitated, wanting to tell Luo Xiaoxue the truth but fearing that knowing too much would affect her life.
Yet she felt it couldn’t be hidden from Lin Nuo’s keen eyes; once they reached the peak of the Sacred Mountain, their fates were utterly intertwined with the Sacred Realm.
“Boy, how can you be so certain?”
“Just answer yes or no.”
Lin Nuo didn’t want to explain much; he wasn’t making blind guesses; his reasoning was sound.
The woman’s gaze returned to Luo Xiaoxue, and she sighed softly:
“Yes, but I am already dead. I’m just a soul, and Xiaoxue has her own life on Earth, so there’s no need to worry about her relation to the Sacred Realm. Besides, I haven’t spent much time with her; I’m not a responsible mother.”
“Alright, you don’t need to blame yourself; how your family affairs go is known only to you. Since she can summon you, it must be for more than just a reunion, right? Naturally, there’s some mystery. How can we leave the Sacred Realm and return to the human world?”
Lin Nuo stated bluntly, putting aside the mumbo jumbo about reunions; they needed to discuss how to return.
The woman sighed again, regret evident:
“Return? I can’t say for certain. I’ve never been to the human world. Since you’ve arrived at the Sacred Realm, please live well.”
“We’ve always lived happily; you don’t need to worry.”
“Yes. From what I understand now, the Handa Alliance is trying to open a crack to the human world, and you can return through there. However, once you can return, it also means the creatures of the Sacred Realm can reach the human world. At that point, the human world will be like the current Sacred Realm, turning into a hell of war.”
“Is there no way to return without opening a crack?” Lin Nuo continued to question.
“Very difficult.”
The woman replied,
“And if the Handa Alliance gains control of the Tian Du Kingdom’s Divine Sacred Beasts, the crack can be infinitely expanded. It would be too late for you to stop it.”
“So, you’re saying that our current task is to prevent them from gaining the control of the Divine Sacred Beasts you mentioned?”
Lin Nuo quickly understood—the central idea had finally been revealed after all this time.
But what’s the plan?
“Yes. There are four Divine Sacred Beasts in the Tian Du Kingdom; currently, two have been found by the Handa Alliance. But they haven’t activated them yet; one is here with me, and the last one is with Xiaoxue.”
“With her? I’ve checked her all over; there are no Sacred Beasts on her. Is she some kind of human-beast hybrid?”
“Not quite; she’s just sealed. Of course, she needs to know how to activate it; otherwise, the Handa Alliance might unseal it beforehand, which would make them uncontrollable.”
“I guess you want to transfer control of the Sacred Beasts to her, so your meeting is a kind of opportunity.”
Lin Nuo said, this sounded like a clear arrangement for the future.
Well, it seemed Luo Xiaoxue would soon become a Beast Tamer.
