Chapter 129: The Birth of Dark’s White Cat
The History of Magic class quietly came to an end under Principal Altair’s unassuming yet entertaining narration.
Even after the principal left, the young magi were still deeply engrossed.
The amusing stories about the hero’s student days clearly resonated more with their current state of mind, making them feel more connected.
Although they had never actually met the hero, each of them now had a vivid image of him in their minds after that lesson.
At the same time, the young magi realized they were walking down the same path as the hero!
Depicting history and immersing oneself in it made them realize they were becoming part of history too.
…
Among them, Wit Gold felt the deepest emotions.
He was lost in his reflections and stayed in the classroom for a long time.
Dark, on the other hand, quickly left right after class ended.
Principal Altair would continue telling stories about the heroes growing up in St. Maryan in the next History of Magic class.
He was very interested in this and eagerly awaited the day when the Valkyrie would become the main character of the story.
But before that, he had his own tasks to complete.
This afternoon was the moment when the Flower of Arrogance would bear fruit!
…
Usually, he would head straight to the library at this time, but there were always exceptions.
He entered the tower, returned to his dormitory, and opened the door.
Dark bent down to pick up the Grass Cat Plant that had come to greet him. Its tail was adorned with a small flower pot, tied like a bow.
The flower pot was specially designed, with no opening except where it connected to the tail.
It also had a special filtration system inside, allowing the soil and water to remain contained while the Grass Cat Plant grew normally.
Dark gently scratched the Grass Cat Plant from its chin to its neck until it purred contentedly. Then he placed it on a chair and prepared his equipment to start the experiment!
Today’s experiment was crucial, representing the culmination of nearly half a month’s efforts.
Additionally, he had an extra idea in mind—if the Grass Cat Plant experiment succeeded, it could potentially form a system!
…
Before the experiment began.
Dark first used the Mana Dropper to extract a drop of “Pride” from his brain. With the assistance of the Technique of the Shadow God, this drop of “Pride” still measured 1.5 points.
Adding yesterday’s remaining 0.5 point, he had a total of two points of “Pride”!
According to his calculations, these two points of “Pride” should be sufficient.
Next, he again used the Mana Dropper to extract half of the contents from the Thought Bottle—another point of “Pride”—and injected it into the Worm Branch.
The Worm Branch felt increasingly like a bottle, and the Grass Cat Plant was like a hungry infant, desperately sucking at the Worm Branch’s head.
This time, Dark didn’t look at its expression; instead, he focused intently on the Pride Flower atop the Grass Cat Plant’s head.
As the energy of “Pride” was transferred to this fully bloomed Pride Flower, it began to grow rapidly.
There was no pollination process.
The Pride Flower conceived directly.
The lower part of the ovary gradually swelled, and the embryo developed from birth to growth.
Meanwhile, the vibrant petals withered visibly.
It was clear that the embryo was absorbing energy.
When the Pride Flower completely withered, a dragon eye-sized fruit actually appeared on top of the Grass Cat Plant’s head!
Dark put on gloves and carefully touched the fruit.
The surface of the fruit was somewhat rough, with a fiery red color, but upon closer inspection, a faint dark golden hue could be seen beneath the red.
On one side, the naturally formed Pride Emblem was exceptionally prominent.
Just a slight touch caused the fruit to detach from its stem, indicating it was fully mature.
Afterwards, only a thin stalk remained on top of the Grass Cat Plant’s head.
Dark didn’t cruelly cut off the stalk.
He picked up the fruit and quickly brought it to the experimental table.
First, he arranged a glass container on the table, then placed the fruit inside and took out a slender, sharp knife to carefully cut open the fruit.
Immediately, some white pulp flowed out.
The inside of the fruit was viscous and semi-liquid, emitting a faint Light Aura when sliced open.
Dark did not find any organ resembling a seed, which slightly disappointed him.
Without seeds, planting was impossible.
They could only cultivate such fruits by feeding the Grass Cat Plant.
To cultivate one of these fruits required roughly seven points of “Pride.”
Seven points of “Pride” were almost enough to create “Pride III.”
…
After recording all collected data in图文形式 (graphic and textual form),
Dark took a deep breath, preparing to begin the most critical experiment.
“The Conjure Method is ‘Avian-Beast Attribute – Light.’”
“The core materials are the Pride Fruit and the feather of the Celestial Beast.”
“What needs to be prepared includes: Spirit Nectar, Brain Leaf Essence Water, Active Egg Liquid, Light Attribute Powder…”
Active Egg Liquid is the egg liquid of a biological egg that has been specially treated to retain some level of activity.
In the basic conjure method of the Avian-Beast Kin, active egg liquid is indispensable.
Once everything was ready,
it was time for the formal experiment.
…
Without hesitation, Dark used 50 credits worth of blank Mana Cards.
Soon, he evenly spread the Spirit Nectar on the blank Mana Card and added a drop of Brain Leaf Essence Water.
After it dried slightly, he applied a layer of transparent yellowish “Active Egg Liquid,” sprinkled the Light Attribute “Powder,” and drew the 7th Conjure Array.
The 7th Conjure Array allowed the materials to gradually merge into the Mana Card.
…
Since this was a one-time experiment, Dark paid meticulous attention to every step.
Thus, it took him nearly an hour and a half to produce a delicate semi-finished Mana Card.
In the final step of refining the core material,
he replaced the mercury axis of the Mana Pen with “Silver Cat Blood” and began drawing the 1st Conjure Array.
A silver cat is a general-type magical beast whose blood properties are similar to mercury in terms of mana conduction.
However, it is more precious than mercury and has additional biological properties, suitable for most feline mana spirit cards.
Pride Fruit, the feather of the Celestial Beast, Silver Cat Blood…
All these preparations were aimed at guiding the final product toward Deoxys!
When the 1st Conjure Array was completed, Dark even faintly heard a meow!
First, he poured the most important Pride Fruit into the Conjure Array.
As the Pride Fruit gradually sank into the light array, he picked up the Celestial Beast’s feather.
The feather of the Celestial Beast instantly released a strong white light when it came into contact with the light of the Conjure Array!
…
When performing this step, Dark was somewhat hesitant.
Pride Fruit was fundamentally cultivated from a Capital Sin, while the Celestial Beast’s feather was of a sacred attribute. In theory, these attributes were supposed to repel each other.
If rejection occurred during the refinement process, it could ruin everything!
The cost of time was secondary; mainly, both the Pride Fruit and the Celestial Beast’s feather were extremely precious, especially the latter, which was almost impossible to find again.
Therefore, this experiment was a make-or-break effort; there was no room for retreat!
“If this refinement succeeds, it will basically prove that the nature of Capital Sin and the sacred attribute do not conflict.”
Suppressing his nervousness, Dark carefully placed the Celestial Beast’s feather into the white light.
The pure white feather seemed to touch the water, causing slight ripples.
Without any rejection, the Celestial Beast’s feather merged into the Conjure Array.
Everything went smoothly, terrifyingly so.
After absorbing the Pride Fruit and the Celestial Beast’s feather, the 1st Conjure Array emitted the brightest light.
In a brief moment of hesitation, Dark had an idea and added a few cat hairs.
Instantly, the light burst forth and then converged.
All materials were fused and refined, and glowing threads emerged from the card face, weaving into a white cocoon.
…
Refinement complete!
…
Regardless of what the final product would be, the experiment was a success.
Dark breathed a sigh of relief and patiently waited for the Mana Card to finalize.
Two minutes later, the mana fluctuations emanating from the white cocoon gradually subsided.
Dark took out the mercury knife, infused it with mana, and prepared to cut open the cocoon.
But as the blade touched it, the mana contact caused the white cocoon to spread out like a thread, revealing a completely white Mana Card.
The cat on the card face opened its eyes, first feeling bewildered, then suddenly focusing, its gaze sharpening.
It crossed its arms, lifted its chin slightly, and its gaze pierced through the card face, as if saying with a tone of arrogance, “Are you my master?”
