Chapter 132: Let’s See How Long You Can Stay with My Daughter

Chapter 132: Let’s See How Long You Can Stay with My Daughter

“Hey Aier, do you have any potions for treating colds? Can you spare me a bottle? I’m feeling awful with this cold!”

“Uh? It’s just a little cold, you don’t need my potion for that. You can just buy a potion from somewhere, right?”

“But it’s so cold outside! I really don’t want to go out. Please, do you have a potion for colds? Just one bottle, please!”

“Seriously, what am I going to do with you? I don’t have a potion specifically for colds, but I should have something that can help. Here you go.”

Aierjisi pulled out a bottle of purple potion from her wormhole and handed it to Yake. Without any hesitation, Yake uncorked the bottle and downed it.

“Oooh… ah…”

Yake made some weird noises, clutching his stomach and collapsing onto the corridor floor.

Right now, he looked like he’d just drunk poison, writhing on the ground in agony.

“What kind of potion did you just give him, daughter? Why is he like this now?”

“That’s a recovery potion I made. It’s meant for minor issues like fevers, colds, stomach aches, and diarrhea. It does have a bit of a strong side effect though, like what he’s experiencing now—intense pain, and he’s just got to stay curled up on the floor. But don’t worry, it should pass soon—around two or three minutes, I reckon.”

Aierjisi expected Yake’s reaction. As an alchemist, she knew the effects of her potions firsthand, having endured them herself before.

That’s why she suggested Yake go out and buy a potion earlier; her potions were powerful for recovery but came with their own hefty side effects.

“Ah… feeling better now, so nice! I’ve never felt so refreshed!”

After 2 minutes and 40 seconds, the potion’s side effects wore off, and Yake felt like he could bounce off the ceiling.

“Alright, alright, no more cold, right? You look fine now.”

“Mm? Ah, yeah, I feel great! Thanks for the potion. It really worked wonders—not only did it cure my cold, but I feel so refreshed now.”

Yake stretched, amazed at how effective the potion was, as if he’d returned to the peak of his youthful self at 18.

“Since you’re all better, let’s keep moving. We have a lot to do today! I’m so hungry, I feel like I’m going to faint here.”

“Oh! Weren’t you stuffed full last night? Why are you hungry again?”

“Don’t try to apply your human digestion system to our Blood Clan! We operate on a completely different level!”

Aierjisi shot a glare at Yake and started heading towards the dining hall, leaving him behind.

“Man, my spoiled daughter has been quite a handful lately, hasn’t she? Taking care of her must be a pain, huh?”

“Definitely.”

“Speaking of which, how did your chat about the contract go yesterday?”

Carl was still a bit concerned about their relationship. He had laid out the true effect of the contract for them the previous day. Yake had nearly lost it when he realized he was slowly losing his humanity. But now it seemed like he didn’t care at all.

“Ah? The contract? We talked about it yesterday, and she assured me she would find a way to return me to my original self before I fully turned into a Blood Clan member.”

“What if she hasn’t found a way by the time you fully transform?”

“Then she’ll terminate the contract and turn me back into a human, even at the cost of her own life. Though she said that, I don’t really care anymore. Whether or not I can return to being human doesn’t matter to me now.”

“Not care? You didn’t seem like that yesterday.”

“Yeah. I totally freaked out when I first heard that news from you. But after talking with her, I got some peace of mind. So many unbelievable things have already happened to me; what’s one more? Besides, you know, being a Blood Clan member doesn’t sound too bad. My lifespan will greatly increase, and I can age much slower. When I look at it that way, becoming a Blood Clan member doesn’t seem like such a big deal.”

From Yake’s perspective, becoming a Blood Clan member was all gain and no pain. However… his family would remain normal humans, which made him feel a bit off.

Just imagining himself a century later, standing by their graves with flowers in hand, looking the same as always—that was a scene so tragic it sent shivers down his spine.

“I see… It seems your mind is stronger than I thought. If that’s the case, I can entrust my daughter to you.”

“Ah? What do you mean by that?”

At that moment, Yake finally realized something strange about Carl’s words. Could it be that the contract he mentioned was just a trial to see if he was trustworthy enough to protect the Little Princess?

“Just as it sounds, congrats, you’ve passed my trial. I can safely leave her in your hands. You better protect her well, or if she gets into any life-threatening danger, even if you run to the ends of the earth, I’ll hunt you down. Got it?”

“Eek! Just hearing that sounds terrifying. Don’t worry, even without your trial, I had no plans of just letting her be. But if yesterday’s talk was just a heartbreak, then my transformation…”

“Don’t worry about that. Your body is indeed undergoing a transformation. From now on, it will slowly turn into a Blood Clan body as time goes on. But since you’ve made peace with it, it shouldn’t matter to you too much.”

Originally, if Yake hadn’t come to terms with it and hadn’t passed this trial, Carl had planned to step in himself. But since he had passed, it was no longer a concern. He just wanted to see how long Yake could stay by his daughter’s side and how far they could go.
