Chapter 1338: The Former Master
“She’s still alive, isn’t she?”
Lin Nuo, lounging under a tree, appeared remarkably calm upon hearing that Han Fairy was alive.
He once harbored resentment towards Han Fairy, but now he had let it go; it didn’t matter anymore.
While the women were busy with their upcoming marriages, he was simply thinking about how to relax in the shade.
“Yes, she survived under Liang Zhao’s command. She once helped us fight against Liang Zhao and Qin Dao, but then she went missing. Now she’s been found again, though she’s been heavily corrupted by Liang Zhao’s Demon Qi and is not what she used to be.”
Qin Shili said, slowly sitting down beside Lin Nuo.
Lin Nuo casually wrapped his arm around her waist; even though they weren’t married yet, they behaved like an old married couple, such that a little touching and kissing felt as ordinary as greeting someone.
Of course, they had to be discreet around the other girls; otherwise, it would trigger jealousy and trouble.
Recently, Lin Nuo had figured out a way to enhance his vitality, and after several experiments, his stamina had indeed improved a lot.
However, dealing with seven women still posed a challenge. But since he found a method, as long as he controlled things, he could definitely handle all seven of them in the future.
“So, what are you planning to do?” Qin Shili asked.
“Do you want to see her?” Lin Nuo shot back.
“I’ll follow your wishes in everything.”
“Just express your own intentions. Although she hasn’t shown me much kindness and even wanted me dead back then, you three are different; you were all her disciples. You should still hold some fondness for her. So, if you want to go, you can go. After all, with the wedding approaching, I’m sure you’d want her blessings, even if she might not sincerely offer them.”
Lin Nuo said lightly; he didn’t want them to have regrets, nor did he want them to betray their true feelings because of him.
To Lin Nuo, all those antiquated ideas about loyalty were just foolishness. He didn’t want to see anyone lose themselves for him.
“If you say I can go, then I will.”
“You can go. In fact, you already had the answer when you asked; otherwise, you would have outright refused.”
“I won’t; I will only follow your wishes.”
“Alright, we’re family, so no need for politeness.”
Lin Nuo slowly stood up and turned his gaze back towards the ancestral house.
“Let’s go, call those two. We are all from the same sect, after all.”
“Got it.”
With that, the two headed back to the ancestral house, finding Su Kexin and Liu Shuqin.
……
……
“Senior Martial Brother, Master… I betrayed her back then. Isn’t that wrong in the end?”
“Are you going or not? If not, it’ll just be the three of us going.”
“I’ll go, of course!”
Su Kexin quickly replied; if she stayed behind, who knows what those three would get up to?
The four each rode their own swords, ensuring that no one shared with Lin Nuo. To treat everyone fairly, they didn’t favor any one person.
Before long, they arrived at Zifeng Valley.
The state of Han Fairy was extremely poor after being discovered by the immortals; she was now recuperating in Zifeng Valley.
“Lin Nuo, you’re here. She’s resting in the Tianlian Cave.”
Seeing Lin Nuo arrive, Dong Xiyan personally came to greet him.
“Uh-huh, okay.”
Lin Nuo nodded and followed Dong Xiyan towards the Tianlian Cave.
Su Kexin and Liu Shuqin both entered with a feeling of guilt, but Qin Shili felt none; she had truly aligned her heart with Lin Nuo, so as long as he bore no regrets, she wouldn’t either.
“Who?”
At that moment, a weak female voice came from inside the cave. They instantly recognized it; it was the voice of Han Fairy.
Lin Nuo signaled them to go in first while he stayed back for a moment.
“Mm…”
They nodded and slowly walked in.
“It’s you?”
Seeing her three female disciples, Han Fairy’s tense nerves finally relaxed.
“You all, how did you know I was here?”
“Dong Fairy informed us, Master.”
Su Kexin spoke softly. Now, Han Fairy seemed much more haggard than before, her hair mixed with white and her speech weak and frail.
“I am no longer your master; the Xuanyun Sect is also no more. I have nothing left to teach you.”
“Once a master, always a father. I have always been grateful for your teachings, Master.”
Liu Shuqin slightly bowed, still showing her respect despite having betrayed Han Fairy in the past.
“Are you all planning to marry Lin Nuo?”
“Yes.”
Qin Shili nodded in response.
“Indeed. I could tell back then that you all had feelings for him. But this is not something I can intervene in. Lin Nuo probably won’t come.”
“Senior Martial Brother is here; he’s just outside. He’ll be in shortly.”
“He has no reason to come. He has always hated me.”
“But it was Senior Martial Brother who brought us here. He figured that if we didn’t see Master, we would feel guilty and regretful… He’s not a petty person; he also cherishes old feelings.”
Su Kexin quickly interjected, but Han Fairy still felt that even if Lin Nuo met her, it would only be to see her pitiful state.
She had experienced life’s great ups and downs and witnessed the rise and fall of the Xuanyun Sect; it was all like a grand dream.
“You all, have you become Demon Practitioners? I know Shuqin has, but you don’t seem to bear many signs of it.”
“After suffering Liang Zhao’s witchcraft, the Demon Star vanished, and our Demon Soul Power rapidly dwindled. Although there’s still a bit of Demon Qi, strictly speaking, we can only be considered cultivators slightly tainted by it.”
Liu Shuqin replied,
“Lin Nuo is in a similar situation. Thanks to his efforts, Demon Practitioners can now coexist peacefully with the common people. The common folk can now live in peace, just as we wished; the disputes are over.”
“I’ve heard the other immortals mention it. That’s good to hear. Sigh, no one expected he would achieve this. Indeed, I don’t deserve to be your master.”
“Master, please don’t say that… If it weren’t for your teachings back then, I might still be a mediocre swordsman. In any case, since the disaster has passed, why should we dwell on our past mistakes? I too had my faults, betrayal of the sect is indeed a grave offense. I’m sorry.”
Su Kexin quickly apologized; in a moment of impulse, she ran off with Lin Nuo and needed to apologize in person. Thankfully, Han Fairy was still around; otherwise, she’d feel guilty for a lifetime.
Not long after, Lin Nuo walked in and saw Han Fairy’s haggard appearance, saying nothing.
“Lin Nuo, you must think my state is ridiculous and well-deserved.”
“It is well-deserved. But it’s not that funny.”
Lin Nuo replied casually; Han Fairy had indeed received her punishment. She lost the Xuanyun Sect, lost the following of her disciples, and suffered from the ravages of Demon Qi—her fate was certainly tragic.
“You are their guide; you helped them achieve greatness. Although I resented you in the past, thinking back now, it’s just that. In a few days, I’ll be marrying them. My mother said I should extend an invitation to you.”
With that, Lin Nuo handed Han Fairy an invitation card.
