Chapter 136

Chapter 136: The Horrific Attack.

Death descended from the sky, hurtling towards death itself.

All ammunition from the bomber, that is, all the burst scales of the Burst Scale Dragon detonated in a terrifying collision with the dragon.

This was deep within the Valley of Miasma, around the Corpse Suit Dragon, where highly concentrated miasma gases, including flammable and explosive gases like methane, were present.

These gases seemed to be shocked by the madness of the殉爆, only reluctantly offering their applause after the first flicker of fire.

That thunderous applause.

Then came the light!

The Valley of Miasma was usually quite cool, so creatures here rarely evolved robust heat-dissipating flame bags or breath weapons. Light and flames underground were rare and blinding.

Not to mention such sudden bursts of light without any time to adapt.

The Grim Claw Dragons, still nearby, howled pitifully; their nearsightedness allowed them to resist the flashlights of photographers on the plateau, but not this direct and scorching light.

Flathead Monkeys, rarely, chose to retreat.

Mold of destruction drew nutrients from the exploding firelight, rapidly swelling into a magnificent mushroom before quickly sinking back down.

The collapsing mushroom caps emitted terrifying heat, purifying the surrounding air.

In the aftermath of the devastation, the dizzy Burst Scale Dragon collapsed onto the Corpse Suit Dragon.

At the same moment, the Master of the Corpse Membrane lay on the ground struggling, emitting a chilling howl that chilled the spines of both man and dragon alike.

But his cries received no response.

The miasma around had been ignited by the grand explosion, every last trace now burning as flame on the ground.

The remaining miasma inside him surged out but couldn’t penetrate the scorched body of the Burst Scale Dragon, instead eliminating all microorganisms within.

“Corpse Suit Dragon’s squirming beneath me… Did I really succeed?”

Jié Jié, feeling the movement beneath him, dizzily lifted his little Burst Scale Dragon face, hardly believing it.

He tried to stand up but, dizzy and disoriented, he couldn’t control his body, let alone stay balanced on the wriggling Corpse Suit Dragon. He was flipped over by the Corpse Suit Dragon.

The Master of the Corpse Membrane rose from the crater, continuing his eerie howls, clawing at Jie Jie with his hook-like claws again and again.

“Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!”

The Burst Scale Dragon screamed, rolling helplessly on the ground like a big silver mulberry.

Jie Jie was still in a state of full-body weakness and dizziness, almost unable to fight back. His kicks and stomps felt like child’s play against the Corpse Suit Dragon, completely ineffective against its cruelty.

“Hissss! Painful! Painful!”

The sharp pain from the torn scales and flesh stimulated his nerves. Surprisingly, while realizing he had ample time to think of a countermeasure, he also noticed he merely felt pain.

The Corpse Suit Dragon could indeed cause effective damage, but the Burst Scale Dragon was bulky with thick blood.

Back then, it took bites straight into the meat until bones were reached for the Burst Scale Dragon to finally perish.

The Corpse Suit Dragon’s powerful yet clumsy small hook-claws attacking him now?

Honestly, they were too short, with low attack frequency, insufficient to kill him before he recovered.

With the lack of miasma in the environment, the Master of the Corpse Membrane failed to finish off the Burst Scale Dragon. Instead, Jie Jie, enduring the attacks, slowly stood up and roared spiritedly:

“Annnnnng!!!”

YOU! Pathetic and weak!!

Now he clearly saw the Corpse Suit Dragon’s condition: the hardened corpse membrane had been blasted apart, half its wings broken and hanging limply.

Jie Jie instantly felt confident he would succeed!

A measly Corpse Suit Dragon, shame to the Ancient Dragons, couldn’t take much!

Contrary to his energetic state despite being battered, the Corpse Suit Dragon’s ghostly howls revealed a sense of despair.

Because it realized there was very little accumulated miasma around, and the temperature was high.

Miasma was the main source of power for the Corpse Suit Dragon, even its lifeline.

Rather than physical combat, the Corpse Suit Dragon actually relied more on using miasma to erode enemies and steal their vitality.

Without miasma nearby, the best option was to leave and find a place rich in miasma.

It also needed to manipulate the miasma to plunder life energy to restore its body.

Thus, amidst Jie Jie’s roar, the Corpse Suit Dragon ran and jumped into a nearby acid pool, disappearing.

“Huh? Just ran away?”

Jie Jie cautiously stared at the bubbling acid pool, suspecting it might be a trick to lure him closer and drag him into the acid.

Like the water ghosts in old people’s stories.

As he regained his strength, he remained vigilant about the acid pool.

Kicking a pebble into the acid pool, it visibly decomposed amid the gurgling bubbles.

Such acid pools were common in the Valley of Miasma, replacing the depleted oceans and filling seabeds from countless years ago, resembling an underworld ocean.

“Phew.”

Inhaling and exhaling the scorching gas, Jie Jie felt helpless once he confirmed the Corpse Suit Dragon had fled.

Just as all traces of flying dragons vanish when they soar into the sky, the Corpse Suit Dragon diving into the acid pool made it equally hard to track.

At least, he wasn’t willing to dive in himself. Even if he could swim, he couldn’t withstand the acid; even if he could withstand it, he couldn’t adapt to the miasma—or perhaps he just couldn’t swim.

What to do?

For now, eat first.

The Corpse Suit Dragon wouldn’t leave the Valley of Miasma. It shouldn’t be too hard to find it again, unless it hides.

The Burst Scale Dragon flapped its wings, creating a storm with the rising air currents to assist in flight.

The Valley of Miasma was truly a barren desert of food. Jie Jie ascended to a higher position, folding his wings like a statue, looking up and praying for a Wind Drift Dragon to fall from the sky.

Almost identical to the Grim Claw Dragon.

Occasionally jumping off the cliff edge, he caught the falling Fragrant Winged Dragons with his mouth after a long absence.

Fragrant Winged Dragons tasted great, fattened by the Coral Land Plateau. Unfortunately, due to age restrictions, Jie Jie always suspected the meat was a bit tough.

Maybe it was related to environmental factors. The Valley of Miasma was perpetually dark, unseen by the sun. He had barely spent half a month here but already missed the sunny Ancient Tree Forest.

Living in the Valley of Miasma, he’d taken down its master in less than half a month. A one-month conquest of the Valley of Miasma was just around the corner!

Gazing at the dim sky shrouded in miasma, Jie Jie envisioned a bright future where diligent hunters of the investigation team cleaned his scales with mops.

The Fragrant Winged Dragon under his claws suddenly became delicious.

After finishing his daily feeding, Jie Jie leisurely jumped off the cliff, gliding deeper into the Valley of Miasma.

He wanted to see if he could find the Corpse Suit Dragon’s nest.
