139 How could Dekan possibly have taken over the Lord’s mansion?
Judith was fully aware that the current priority wasn’t the change in cultural ambiance of Tristin City.
Instead, it was dealing with the savage man — the Destruction Archbishop Evans.
If he had truly infiltrated Tristin City,
then it might take only a single night for the entire city to be turned into a hell!
“Evans is such a cunning man. Even as I chased him desperately, his tricks managed to get the better of me.”
Female Knight Judith said through gritted teeth,
“Although the direction Evans escaped in was not heading towards Tristin City, upon further thought, the place he is most likely to come to is still here, given that he seems to have some sort of fixation with Tristin City.”
Lord Rampard: “Yes, he indeed…”
“Do not be afraid. Even if it costs me my life, I will protect the people of Tristin City and ensure that the tragedy does not repeat itself.”
Judith’s voice was laced with sorrow.
For her, the disaster that happened at noon today was still vivid in her memory.
“…”
Rampard felt somewhat speechless. Judith seemed to be in such a hurry that she only focused on explaining the situation and did not give him a chance to speak.
“I’m leaving first.”
However,
just as Judith was about to turn and leave,
she unconsciously sniffed her nose.
She had felt from the very start that there was something off about the mansion, and this feeling of unease was becoming stronger.
“The smell of blood? And the scent of burning?”
Judith became immediately alert.
Her expression turned serious as she drew her sword and walked briskly in the direction where the barely perceptible smell of blood was coming from.
And so,
Judith arrived at the parlor.
She saw three unfamiliar faces.
And,
there on the floor was a body bag exuding the smell of blood!
Her arrival also caught the attention of the three people in the parlor.
Chloix turned around to look at her, his hand resting on the back of the sofa. Apparently exhausted, he had a slightly furrowed brow.
While Cornelia and Dekan were sitting opposite Chloix, facing Judith who had arrived in the parlor.
Cornelia had her hands on her thighs, showing no expression, as though she was completely unbothered by the body bag placed on the parlor floor.
And the most disturbing of all was Dekan.
He looked incredibly relaxed and languid, with his eyes half-closed.
In his hands was what appeared to be a superior quality wine, though it was actually grape juice.
The deep red liquid, after being chilled with ice, exhaled wisps of cold from the glass, tiny droplets of condensation forming on the glass, making Judith, who had come all this way and was extremely parched, involuntarily want to swallow her saliva.
Dekan, as though he hadn’t seen Judith at all, slowly brought the drink to his lips and took a small sip.
After tasting, he seemed to finally notice the unexpected guest in the parlor.
“Oh? Another visitor?”
Dekan said with a smile.
Looking at the bizarre scene in the parlor, Judith’s hair stood on end.
She became wary of Dekan.
It didn’t take long for Judith to realize why she instinctively thought this individual was the most dangerous.
Because upon careful inspection,
besides the smell of blood emanating from the body bag on the floor,
this silver-haired youth also carried a faint smell of blood that could not dissipate in a short time!
This was the kind of person who smelled like they had blood evenly spread all over them like perfume.
Judith had encountered someone like this before!
That was a cardinal as wicked as the Destruction Archbishop Evans — the Decay Archbishop.
He enjoyed torturing living people with various cruel methods, even experimenting on them.
For instance, the sinister magic that causes blood to evaporate was one of the Decay Archbishop’s masterpieces.
Judith would never forget the smell of blood that clung to the Decay Archbishop after he had performed his blood-evaporation magic!
It was very similar to the current smell on Dekan!
If the three individuals in the parlor right now were subordinates of the Decay Archbishop,
then Tristin City was in imminent danger.
A single Destruction Archbishop was already giving her a headache.
Without reinforcements, if the Decay Archbishop also got involved, she felt utterly powerless.
And the worst part was,
the Lord’s mansion seemed to have already fallen!
“Madam Judith, please calm down! They are my friends!”
Rampard hurriedly ran from the entrance to explain.
He realized the current issue was no longer as simple as just explaining the situation about Evans to Judith!
These three people in the parlor were already imposing enough just from their presence.
And the way they appeared so at ease in the parlor was unsettling.
They clearly didn’t treat it as someone else’s residence.
And the body bag neatly placed on the floor was the final touch!
The three of them looked just like dangerous terrorists who had taken over the Lord’s mansion!
However,
after hearing Rampard’s words, Judith simply shook her head.
She protected Rampard, who had chased her into the parlor, placing herself in front of him, becoming even more alert towards Dekan.
Judith: “Rampard, don’t worry, I’ve got this.”
Rampard: “No, I haven’t been held hostage…”
Judith quickly “understood” Rampard’s meaning and shouted at the three individuals on the sofa.
“You three! Surrender and release Rampard’s family immediately, or you will die by my sword soon!”
“…”
Upon hearing this, Dekan’s eyebrows slightly furrowed.
He probably deduced from the vague sounds of Rampard’s conversation near the entrance that this was the eighth-ranked individual that Evans had beaten into a pulp.
What kind of brain could even get beaten up by Evans?
“Have you considered the possibility that we are good guys?”
Dekan asked rather helplessly.
“You definitely don’t look like normal people!”
Judith seemed to have been subjected to too much mental torture today. With her mind currently taut, her emotions started to get agitated.
“Ah.”
Dekan sighed lifelessly.
He had originally thought his work for the day was done.
Unexpectedly, there was someone like an actor who walked onto the wrong set disturbing his peaceful evening rest.
Initially, Dekan could have immediately told this female knight that the body on the ground was Evans.
But he changed his mind.
How could he let such a valuable patron slip away so easily?
“Then let’s make a bet, alright? If I can’t prove I’m a Resurrectionist within the next minute, I’ll surrender without resistance. But if I can prove I’m not a Resurrectionist, how will you apologize to me?”
Dekan asked with a rather challenging smile on his face.
“Hmph, truly absurd. This is the first time I’ve met someone as blindly confident as you.”
Judith sneered coldly.
Clearly, the smell of blood on you has already given you away.
Still pretending.
The more lifelike this performance, the more ridiculous it appears.
“Why don’t you tell me what you’ll do if you’ve mistakenly accused me?”
Dekan repeated his question, now showing slight impatience.
“If I wronged you, I will apologize until you’re satisfied!”
Judith said coldly, with absolute determination.
