Chapter 14

# Chapter 14. The Arrival of the Saint… Scene? (2)

The news that the young master of the count’s household had been drenched in scalding soup was enough to send the household into an uproar.

“Mi, my lord!”

“Quick, fetch a doctor!”

“First, to the bathroom! We must cool the burned areas with cold water!”

Though their actions seemed more worried about the trouble this incident might cause to my unruly reputation, I was grateful for their enthusiastic care nonetheless.

Ideally, I would like to break the preconceptions they have about me now, but I can’t reveal that the owner of this body has changed, nor would they believe me – thus, it falls to me to handle the situation.

“My son was almost severely burned, and this person still lives… Bring him here immediately—”

“Father, that’s enough.”

My parents, having heard I nearly suffered severe burns, were furious and were about to boil the servant alive, but I barely managed to stop them.

Though our times resemble the medieval era with its great disparity in treatment based on social status, the notion of holding someone’s life in my hands is still extremely foreign to me, having come from the modern world.

Besides, it was a coincidence, and ultimately, I sustained no injury, so there’s no longer any reason to concern ourselves with this person.

Moreover, if I were to punish or seek revenge on the servant now, it could worsen the opinions people already have of me.

Though, if something had happened to Cecilia, I wouldn’t know what I might have done…

“You’re saying you’ll just let the person who injured you go?”

“It was an accident. And, ultimately, I didn’t get hurt.”

The excuse that the soup landed on my clothes was surprisingly easy to sell.

The actual state of my back being drenched in soup undoubtedly played a big role in convincing them.

“Hmm… If you’ve decided this way, I have nothing else to say… But even so—”

“It’s fine. Please leave it. The shop owner will have dealt with the person appropriately.”

There’s a bigger issue, though—

‘Cecilia has awakened with the power of healing…’

In the original game, her role is that of a mage, specifically a combat-specialized mage.

Until her admission into the Academy, Cecilia, who had been practically confined to the estate, only received lessons to become a priestess.

While she may have encountered magical items in real life, she’d never had the opportunity or intention to learn or practice magic on her own.

However, once she began to study magic out of curiosity at the Academy, she quickly became captivated by its appeal and decided to pursue the path of a mage.

Despite her late start, her innate talent enabled her to achieve greater accomplishments than others who’d received early education.

In fact, all the professors in the magic department implored her to become their disciple.

For the first time, Cecilia had made her own choice and developed great attachment to magic. The story of the original game follows her growing alongside the male protagonist, who learns swordsmanship, as they work together in their respective fields to defeat the enemies threatening the Academy.

However, now she has awakened as a possessor of divine healing power, a sacred maiden, closing the path of becoming a mage.

Of course, I’m not blaming her or the goddess who bestowed this power without consulting her first.

My concern is that with Cecilia becoming a saint, clearing the Academy episodes has become not just difficult, but nearly impossible.

The original game’s main party consists of three characters: the protagonist, a swordsman; Cecilia, a mage (offensive type); and the healer, a saint.

With a setup of a tank, damage dealer, and healer, they were a strong and reliable team.

Now that Cecilia, the damage dealer, has been forcibly converted into a healer, the party has become a tank-healer-healer setup, significantly lowering the party’s offensive capabilities.

Even worse, with Cecilia possessing exceptional talent, the loss of about 60-70% of our overall power is no exaggeration.

Some might ask if she can use magic and divine power together, but the setting compares it to trying to pick out rice grains from a mix of rice, grains, and sand—it’s theoretically possible with time and extreme concentration, but there’s no room for that luxury in the middle of a battle.

Moreover, now that Cecilia has awakened as a saint, it’s uncertain whether the original saint from the game can obtain divine power.

If we were depending on another saint appearing and focused on making Cecilia a mage, there’s the risk she might have to step in as the saint if none emerges, but without any healing training, she would struggle even to treat a single person.

On the other hand, while it’s hard to find someone with Cecilia’s talent to fill a damage-dealing role…

Do we gamble on another saint appearing, or do we personally seek someone who matches Cecilia?

“I’m sorry, Young Master… I, I’ve gained this power…”

“…And why are you apologizing? This is a splendid power you’ve been granted. Of course, we must ensure the church doesn’t discover it, but this is the power to protect those precious to Lady Cecilia, isn’t it? You should be proud.”

Perhaps thinking I was upset by my concerned expression, I consoled Cecilia when she came to apologize.

“For the time being, be careful with your actions. If this fact gets out, the church may try to take you away on various pretexts.”

“Ah, I understand!”

“Haha, this means we’ve formed our own little secret between the two of us.”

“Se… secret! A secret between me and the Young Master, just the two of us!”

Cecilia’s face lit up strangely at the word “secret.”

She seems delighted to share this secret with someone, given her lack of social interaction.

“I need to study the divine power of healing that Lady Cecilia has gained. I’ll also need to make time to assist you in practicing your divine powers discreetly, away from others’ eyes.”

“I don’t want to be taking up your time, Young Master… That would make me feel uncomfortable…”

“Uncomfortable? On the contrary, I’m glad my time with Lady Cecilia has increased.”

It’s not as though there’s anything to apologize for. This is all happening because I wasn’t competent enough… because I am lacking…

Because I am… That’s it!

“Lady Cecilia, I suddenly remembered a place I need to visit! Please wait for a moment!”

After telling Cecilia I needed to step out for a bit, I rushed to the head of the household’s study.

Barge!

“Father, please arrange for a private tutor to teach magic.”

*

“Ah… I’m tired.”

Perhaps because of the many events of the day, it’s hard to bear the flood of fatigue.

I’ve strained my mind more than expected due to the deviation from the planned scenario, leaving my overburdened brain demanding rest.

“I’m only going to get busier from here on.”

I’ve decided to take on the mage role in place of Lady Cecilia, who has become a healer.

If there are no teeth, we chew with our gums.

At least since I remember the gaming system, I might understand magic more easily than ordinary people.

Father will introduce an appropriate home tutor.

Given his selection of top-notch teachers for the family’s prestige, I don’t expect him to bring anyone lacking in skill.

Still, I have always been fascinated by the magic of the fantasy world as a man, so I expect to enjoy the process of learning.

Isn’t every man who enters a fantasy world supposed to cast a fireball at least once before he dies?

With those heavy eyelids slowly closing, I sank into sleep.

…Or so I thought.

“What is this place?”

Despite having turned off the light, the sensation of light made me crack my eyes open. I found myself in a pure white space.

…No, it wasn’t a hallucination or me being locked in a mental hospital; I was truly in an empty, snow-white space.

“Is this some bizarre hidden camera show?”

“It’s not exactly a hidden camera… well, maybe it is?”

A sudden feminine voice startled me, and I turned around to see—

There stood a breathtakingly beautiful woman in a white dress, looking down at me with a childlike gaze.

“Hi there! Long time no see~ Ah, wait, you probably don’t know me, do you? Hmm!”

This woman spoke as though she already knew me.

“Uh, excuse me, might I ask who you are? Have we met before?”

“Aww! Are you hitting on me? Thanks, but I could get in trouble with the age gap. Although…”

An overly high-energy woman.

My head started to ache as her high spirits became overwhelming, and she finally composed herself to introduce herself.

“To introduce myself, I am Nephthys! The goddess of love and healing, also known as the creator of this world!”

An impressive figure has visited my dream.
