List 147 of Dekan
“I know there’s absolutely no way you could become an archbishop of the Rebirth Church.”
Ice Snow Princess, though with a tinge of sorrow in her brows, spoke with a firm tone.
“However… this is the official announcement released by the Rebirth Church.”
Ice Snow Princess handed Dekan a document.
It detailed the information publicly disclosed by the Rebirth Church that morning.
“After active and amicable discussions, we are delighted to announce that as of today, Mr. D, an expert in curses, toxins, and mind control, has officially joined the Rebirth Church and will serve as the new Cardinal Archbishop – the Bishop of Pain – fighting alongside other members for the great doctrines.”
“Am I supposed to believe I’ve been traded to Rebirth Gaming to play the jungler?”
Dekan couldn’t help but curse.
Although the Rebirth Church didn’t mention Dekan by name, it was practically the same as revealing his ID number.
“Who came up with this ridiculous idea?”
Dekan felt a strong sense of frustration, as if he’d spent all day hunting and was then pecked by the bird he was stalking.
He didn’t expect the Rebirth Church, who was so angry with him just a few days ago, would disregard their dignity to drag him into this today.
Moreover, this move by the Rebirth Church was purely intended to offend.
Because if the Rebirth Church truly regarded Dekan as an ally, they wouldn’t have disclosed such detailed personal information.
Thus, it was clear who Dekan was affiliated with or not.
The intent of the Rebirth Church was quite obvious.
They wanted to provide a handle for those who wished to cause trouble for Dekan.
“This is merely a tactic by the Rebirth Church to sow discord, and indeed, some ill-intentioned individuals are taking advantage of the situation. Please don’t worry, let justice be your vindication. Most people still believe you are a hero.”
Ice Snow Princess looked at Dekan seriously as she said these words.
“I absolutely trust you.”
Seeing Dekan’s silence, Ice Snow Princess added another sentence.
“Is it because if my reputation becomes too high, or if I become a top-tier cardmaker, it would infringe upon certain people’s interests?”
Dekan questioned.
“That’s correct.”
” sighed in frustration.”
Dekan let out an exasperated sigh.
Originally, he had already tried his best to have Rampard present the entire matter rather discreetly.
For instance, the “Overwhelming De’Erkan Captain Celebration” held in Tristin City was portrayed as a mere coincidence.
Then, incidentally, a large group of Rebirth Church followers was apprehended.
The process of “defeating Isabel” had been greatly simplified, since Dekan couldn’t possibly reveal his ultimate trump card.
Lastly, in the section about “defeating Evans,” the main output was credited to the Holy Knight Judith.
Thus, in the final report of this event, it appeared that the two high-level eighth-rank individuals, Ice Snow Princess and Judith, were the main forces, while Dekan and Chloix were merely supporting roles cooperating to defeat Evans.
Dekan was certainly the decisive figure, but it mostly seemed like “luck being on his side” or “just in time to showcase his counter-tactics against Evans.”
Details of Dekan’s masterful scheming behind the scenes, like a shadowy puppeteer controlling everything, were omitted.
Even so, there were still people who couldn’t tolerate Dekan.
“Moreover, your expertise in demon script card-making isn’t unnoticed by everyone. Although foreign script card craftsmanship is also a key research subject for modern cardmakers, your expertise in demon script card-making is unbelievably high, as if you were truly an ancient demon come to life…”
Ice Snow Princess added.
Dekan nodded in agreement.
He understood what Ice Snow Princess was implying.
Demons had almost vanished from this world many years ago.
Demon script card-making had gradually become a lost art.
In ancient times, pain-based techniques and mana evaporation techniques, which Dekan currently employed, weren’t unheard of among demons.
At the time, measures were devised to counteract the infliction of pain by demons, pain feedback mechanisms, and summoned creature interferences.
But as time progressed and the environment changed, with demons disappearing, these demon-based lineages also faded due to the lack of new cards.
However, Dekan suddenly emerged in this era devoid of demons with a pain-based lineage that had been extensively modified by him.
Supported also by Dekan’s unconventional strategies, the present environment found it challenging to combat him.
Often unexpectedly being caught off guard by Dekan.
If Dekan were to develop the demon lineage further, it might have a tremendous impact on the current environment, even bringing about disruption.
Maybe certain top-tier cardmakers would find themselves rendered useless due to being thoroughly countered.
Thus, many people were against Dekan causing such a massive shift in the environment.
“May I know where the primary opposition is coming from?”
Dekan asked calmly.
“The top-tier cardmakers from the Northern Kingdoms, the top-tier cardmakers from the Imperial forces, and…”
Ice Snow Princess handed Dekan a pre-prepared list.
Dekan took the list, glanced at it, and nodded impassively.
“I understand, thank you.”
“The Northern Kingdoms’ factions are currently requesting a comprehensive review of you from the Kingdom Union, attempting to remove you from the Norton Kingdom. However, Norton Kingdom and a few friendly neighboring countries have strongly opposed this. Nevertheless, please rest assured, regardless of the circumstances, the King will never hand you over.”
“Hmm.”
Dekan knew Norton Kingdom wouldn’t betray him.
From the beginning of his schooling, the King and nobles of Norton Kingdom had undoubtedly always been firm supporters of Dekan.
Otherwise, Dekan’s life wouldn’t have been so easy and peaceful.
And the neighboring countries mostly maintained good relations with Norton Kingdom.
Considering Dekan’s elimination of the frequently appearing Archbishop of Destruction, Evans, in the surrounding areas, it undoubtedly brought considerable relief to the neighboring countries.
Therefore, there were certainly other factions that held protective opinions towards Dekan.
But among the Kingdom Union, they were certainly not entirely united.
And the forces outside the Union, specifically the Imperial power, were indeed quite a headache.
This gave the Rebirth Church a chance to cause discord.
“Then, if Dekan goes and kills a couple more archbishops, wouldn’t that prove your innocence? The Rebirth Church can’t possibly remain silent when you’re jumping at their faces like that, meow!”
Teacher Cat suddenly chimed in with its genius suggestion.
“If I have the ability, why don’t I simply resolve the issues of those opposing me? Aren’t they much more difficult to handle than those archbishops?”
Dekan retorted irritably.
The ability to defeat Evans was partly due to reliable teammates and to a large extent because Evans walked straight into Dekan’s web.
Anyone who dared to approach Dekan would definitely regret it.
But if Dekan himself had to go out to eliminate those archbishops, even with his idol group, it would be rather challenging.
“You, you just don’t do anything reckless, meow!”
Teacher Cat was genuinely startled by Dekan’s alarming words and started to doubt if he was indeed the Bishop of Pain.
Dekan said nothing, merely flipping through the list again.
He traced his fingers over the names on it, as if wanting to erase them one by one.
