Chapter 156 – Chapter 143 – The Sister Has Gone Mad
The Yukinoshita main family resides in the central part of Chiba city.
Surprisingly, in such a land where every inch of land is precious within the metropolitan area, there stands a traditional Japanese-style mansion with a considerable area. But thinking of the Yukinoshita family as a major landowner in Chiba Prefecture, everything becomes reasonable.
Standing under the eaves of the corridor, Yukinoshita Yukino looked slightly absent-minded, gazing up at the sky. Her long, smooth hair that reaches her waist swayed in the wind, and strands of hair occasionally brushed against her face, giving her an almost imperceptible coolness before they were swept to her ears.
Today’s weather wasn’t quite good, with a deep blue sky blocked by thick gray clouds, and the air permeated with a wet and heavy atmosphere.
It seemed like rain would come soon.
What could Rinn Qi be doing now?
It has been two weeks since Yukinoshita Yukino returned home.
Rinn Qi was temporarily living alone in Yukinoshita Yukino’s apartment. Considering what he had stolen from her, he shouldn’t starve.
But given his laid-back personality, wouldn’t he be making meals himself every day?
“Ah, little Snow?” A loathsome voice suddenly sounded beside her ear. “What are you looking at?”
Yukinoshita Yono approached the black-haired girl from behind, looked up following her gaze, feigned some curiosity, and pretended to wonder, “There isn’t Rinn Qi up there either?”
“Sister…”
Yukinoshita Yukino snapped out of her reverie, looking at the teasing smile on her sister’s face and felt annoyed enough to roll her eyes.
“Okay, don’t stay there, there might be a thunderstorm any minute now, continuing to stand there will get you wet.”
Yukinoshita Yono laughed softly, waved her hand and went back inside the main house. Yukinoshita Yukino followed her.
Both arrived at the main house. As always, Yukinoshita Mother was dressed in a kimono sitting on a zafu, elegantly brewing tea.
“Yukino, Yono, you’ve arrived.” Hearing their footsteps, Yukinoshita Mother gently lifted her eyelids, greeted them warmly, then continued with her task.
Pouring a cup of tea for each daughter, she nodded slightly, gesturing for them to have a seat.
Yukinoshita Yukino sat down obediently, keeping her posture. Yono, however, was more casual, sitting cross-legged on a zafu. One hand pressed against the tea table supporting her cheek, while the other held the teacup loosely, sipping at the rising steam.
“…Sister!” Yukinoshita Yukino whispered a reminder.
But with short hair lady unaffected, she smiled and asked, “What?”
Seeing her eldest daughter’s messy posture, Yukinoshita Mother couldn’t help but frown slightly, “Yono, you need proper sitting posture.”
Sure enough, Mother scolded Yono more sternly.
“Oh~ let me relax, it’s just no one else around,” she complained.
Unexpectedly, Yono didn’t correct her posture but argued back!
“It doesn’t matter if there are outsiders or not, this is about habit,” Yukinoshita Mother placed her hands flat on the table, expression serious. “Once habits form, it’s hard to change them. I’ve taught you this a long time ago.”
“But it’s tiring, I don’t want to tire myself out at home either,” Yono pouted with a drawn-out tone.
Her voice was as sweet as honey, yet with a touch of husky allure, like purple smoke gently rising from a pipe held between red lips, enchanting and alluring.
There’s something off with Sister’s state…
Yukinoshita Yukino silently raised alarm.
“If you can’t even relax at home, Yono would have to do like Snow does, running away and never coming back,”
Hidden behind playful words was a hint of threat.
You actually dared to speak to Mother like that?!
Black hair girl’s eyes widened gradually, brimming with disbelief.
Mother’s anger is coming.
“Yono!”
Yukinoshita Mother’s pretty face showed a hint of anger, and her voice suddenly increased in volume. Yukinoshita Yukino beside Yono instinctively shivered at the scene.
Yukinoshita Yono acted as if she didn’t hear, gulped down what’s left in the cup and slammed it on the table.
As the bottom hit the surface, a dull sound resounded while a wrinkle formed on her mother’s tightly furrowed brows.
“Oh no, Sister has lost it.”
Although in terms of combat, ten Yonos plus ten mothers wouldn’t stand a chance, at that moment, Yukinoshita Yukino only felt fear.
“Hey! Yono needs to report something!” Yukinoshita Yono raised her hand like a primary school kid, “Snow wants to run away! She said she can’t stay another second in this house and must return to her solo apartment!”
“Sister?!”
Her wide, cerulean eyes filled with shock, Yukinoshita Yukino’s mouth hung open in surprise, unable to retort.
You’re slandering me!
And her reaction confirmed suspicions in her mother’s eyes.
“Are you thinking like this, Yukino?” Sadness and scrutiny mixed in her gaze.
“No…” The denial was stuck in her throat, before hesitantly becoming soft, “Actually yes, but not like Sister put it.”
“Why? Do you feel I’m too strict like Yono does?” Her calm voice was like a judge’s severe questioning in a court.
Yukinoshita Yono supported her face with a smiling expression, not denying her words.
“No… I don’t…” She muttered quietly with her head slightly lowered, simultaneously throwing a glance towards the short-haired beauty.
“I’m feeling a bit drowsy, going for a nap,” Yukinoshita Yono fake-unnoticed, yawned and stood up, “Good afternoon, Mother.”
Gazing at her departing oldest daughter until that familiar silhouette slightly changed from her sight, Yukinoshita Mother sighed soundlessly and resumed tea preparation.
“I’ll go back to my room to read too.”
Seeing Yono leave, Yukinoshita Yukino found herself forced to find an excuse, fleeing away in panic.
The long-awaited storm finally poured. At first, a few drops fell, quickly turning into a downpour, with raindrops forming countless dense white lines, blurring the outlines of distant buildings.
Yukinoshita Yono raised her head slightly, looking at the overcast sky, but her gaze blurred, as if it pierced through the thick clouds, witnessing that dazzling starry sky.
