Chapter 16: Isn’t It Better for a Boy?!
“Ah… Ouch. Aier, were you serious about what you just said? You’re not joking with me, right?”
After getting kicked in the knee by the Little Princess, Yake finally realized she was dead serious. Her previous words weren’t some kind of prank.
“If I were to joke around in a place like this, what good would it do me?”
Aierjisi looked at Yake with disdain, as if he were rubbish. How could this servant’s brain be so slow?
“Ahem. Since you’re not joking, I’ll tell you this: even if you were a boy in the past, what does it matter? Right now, here, you are Aierjisi, a Little Princess I need to serve. That’s all there is to it; your past is of no importance to me. Moreover, to be frank, if you were actually a boy before, isn’t that even better?! What could be more amazing than a boy who turns into a girl falling in love with another guy?!”
…Ouch.
After hearing Yake’s statement, the Little Princess inhaled sharply. Though the first half of his words were somewhat moving, how did the latter half suddenly turn so obnoxious? It was clear that Yake’s brain wasn’t functioning right; maybe it was better to just dispose of him and bury him somewhere.
“Forget it. Asking you is pointless; I’m just as much of an idiot.”
She had initially wanted to give Yake a good beating, but Aierjisi ultimately refrained. This guy wasn’t at the level where a simple beating could fix his brain. Besides, he was her own servant, so she had to take care of him even if it meant tearing up.
“Let’s go. We should explore this city; it’s not every day you get to visit a big city coming from a small town. I want to see what fun things are here.”
“Sure thing! Leave it to me; I promise to show you lots of interesting stuff.”
Yake lifted Aierjisi and started wandering aimlessly around the city.
“Oh. They actually sell potato chips in this world? I’ve never seen them in the small town; who knew they existed here?”
In a shop, Aierjisi spotted a bag of potato chips, instantly drawn to it.
“Huh? Oh, potato chips. No one buys these in the small town, so eventually, they just stopped restocking. What? Do you like to eat this stuff?”
Seeing that the Little Princess seemed really interested in the potato chips, Yake grabbed the bag for her.
“Of course! I’ll tell you, in our world, potato chips are a must-have snack. Just imagine sitting in front of the computer at night, drinking your favorite soda while munching on potato chips; life can’t get any better than that.”
“Oh…”
Even though Aierjisi said that, Yake couldn’t quite understand what she meant. But it was clear that potato chips must be quite popular in their world.
“Hm… Huh? They even have cola here? Odd. I didn’t see any sold in the small town. Could it be that cola isn’t popular there either?”
Seeing that the shop had not only potato chips but also cola, the Little Princess was even more surprised. What’s up with the people in the small town? Clearly, both potato chips and cola are great; why aren’t they popular there?
“I think you should try them yourself. Maybe after tasting them, you’ll understand why they aren’t popular.”
Yake hadn’t tasted the potato chips and cola from Aierjisi’s original world, so he had no idea what they were like. Since the potato chips and cola here weren’t popular, it obviously meant their taste must be terrible.
“Hm. That makes sense. Let me try it; we should pay for it first. Oh wait, we have a token so we don’t need to pay.”
Aierjisi took out the blue token given to her by the City Lord and showed it to the boss at the register.
“Oh, so you’re a guest of the City Lord! Is there anything else you need? Don’t be shy; just take whatever you want. I won’t charge you.”
Seeing the token, the shop owner immediately changed his attitude, becoming respectful towards the Little Princess. After all, she was someone important to the City Lord—not someone he could offend.
“Yake, do you need to buy anything else? I only need this cola and potato chips.”
Aierjisi turned to Yake, checking if he had anything else he wanted to purchase. It was a rare opportunity to be in this commercial city, there must be some other supplies he needed.
“I don’t have anything else to buy; this is good enough for me. Um… hold on a second, boss, do you happen to sell tents?”
“No tents, sorry. I don’t sell those here.”
The boss shook his head; how would a small shop like his stock tents?
“Alright, sorry to bother you. Let’s go, Aier.”
Yake pushed the Little Princess out of the shop.
“Weren’t you supposed to bring a tent when you left?”
“Actually, I do have some tents, but they were left by my dad, and I’m not sure if they’re still usable. I think it’s better to buy a new one. What do you think?”
“That’s fair; if there are conditions, it’s better to buy a new one.”
Aierjisi nodded in agreement with Yake’s idea. She then opened the potato chips and cola they just bought to taste them.
“What… what is this? This bizarre taste explains why these things are so unpopular. No one would ever like this flavor!”
After just one bite, the Little Princess looked disgusted and tossed both items into the trash. No wonder nobody wanted the potato chips and cola. These were mere facades compared to what she was used to on Earth. While the milk tea and cake were quite good, how could these two items taste so bad?
“Are the potato chips and cola from your world really that delicious?”
“Of course! Didn’t I just tell you? Sitting in front of the computer at night, sipping on soda while eating potato chips, is a heavenly experience. It’s such a pity that these versions of cola and potato chips are like this. Sigh.”
Aierjisi couldn’t help but sigh. She had thought she might finally find something she loved from Earth in this world, but it turned out to be a huge letdown, breaking her heart.
