Chapter 16. The Outburst of the Protagonist
Wind Sea Forest, drenched in blood.
The green grass was stained red with the blood of the fallen, and in the confrontation between the righteous sects and the Demon Sect, the righteous sects were utterly defeated.
The disciples of the Demon Sect practiced dark and evil arts, while the disciples of the righteous sect were merely low-level cultivators, succumbing one by one to the onslaught of demonic techniques.
The haunting cries of pain echoed through the woods, countless indomitable men becoming souls lost to the abyss.
This was the first time Su Kexin had witnessed such death, the entire green meadow drenched in blood—a horrifying mass slaughter.
She was battered in the fierce melee, her body nearly depleted of spirit energy.
Even standing was a struggle as she leaned on her spirit sword, wiping away the blood at the corner of her mouth.
Faced with numerous disciples of the Demon Sect, she, merely at the third level of spirit realm, felt powerless.
“Kexin Junior Martial Sister, I’ll give you one last chance. Choose to join the Demon Sect, and I’ll let you live.”
Xu Yudong stepped before the weak Su Kexin, slightly raising his right palm.
Su Kexin’s attitude was resolute: “I, with my heart dedicated to the welfare of all living beings, could never join the Demon Sect.”
“Sigh, a brainwashed person is truly stubborn. There’s nothing more to be done then.”
Xu Yudong gathered demonic energy in the palm of his right hand,
“Then die.”
The magic palm energy surged forth, crashing into Su Kexin’s body.
“Ah!”
She was sent flying a great distance, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
Yet she still struggled to rise.
“Hm? Quite tenacious; you can still stand after my palm energy hits you.”
Xu Yudong approached Su Kexin again, channeling demonic energy into his palm,
“This time, you won’t be so lucky.”
The magic palm energy surged out once more, crashing towards Su Kexin.
Die, you woman who doesn’t know her place.
However, at that moment…
An intense spirit energy surged through Su Kexin, radiating a dazzling white light, her long hair billowing upwards.
“What is…?!”
Xu Yudong was caught off guard, as an inexplicable powerful aura countered his magic palm energy!
In an instant, a strong wind whipped up, dust swirling, rocks tumbling. Xu Yudong felt the ground beneath his feet tremble violently.
What’s happening? What’s this woman planning to do?
Forget her, just finish this.
Strike!
Xu Yudong launched a palm strike, while Su Kexin instantly responded with her own palm, the clash of energies resulting in a thunderous boom, sending Xu Yudong flying over ten meters away.
“What the—what’s going on?!”
Xu Yudong hastily scrambled up; Su Kexin’s counter struck him throughout his body, damaging almost all of his spirit meridians.
He coughed up blood, pain pounding in his chest.
This is impossible! She’s only at the third level of spirit realm and heavily injured. How could she possibly overpower me?
“Young Master, you’re injured.”
“Don’t mind me! Everyone, surround her and kill her!”
“Yes!”
More than ten disciples of the Demon Sect encircled Su Kexin, launching their attacks together.
Su Kexin waved her hand slightly, summoning her spirit sword from nearby, which shone with brilliant white light.
Unfazed, she swung her spirit sword, unleashing a powerful sword energy that swept in all directions.
The numerous incoming disciples of the Demon Sect were struck by the sword energy, scattering in disarray.
Su Kexin’s power skyrocketed, becoming utterly unpredictable. Even against many disciples, none could rival her, all perishing beneath her spirit sword.
“This woman has gone crazy…”
Xu Yudong stared dumbfounded; he had thought victory was secured, yet suddenly, the tables turned. His subordinates couldn’t even overpower her and were effortlessly dodged by her tricks and spirit techniques.
Heavy losses sustained.
“Crazy woman, die!”
Xu Yudong, unwilling to accept defeat, gathered his spirit energy in his palm, unleashing the demonic technique.
Su Kexin shot him a glance, swiftly wielding her sword; blood splattered as Xu Yudong was struck in the chest, collapsing in a pool of blood.
…
In a tree nearby, a young man happened to run by to watch the show.
“Arrived late, Su Kexin exploded. You idiots are all here to give her experience points. And Xu Yudong, that’s classic ‘villain dies from talking too much’. Well, whatever, even if you didn’t say a word, you’d still die. Why provoke her?”
Lin Nuo murmured softly; he had to kill Su Kexin this time. Now that she had exploded with power, it would only be harder to eliminate her afterward.
He could only wait for her outburst to end, but would there be a second explosion? He wasn’t sure. Either way, once the storm passed, he’d have to finish her in one blow—not allowing for any mistakes.
Typically, in the story arc, Su Kexin encounters danger, gets beaten to bloodshed, then retaliates with an explosion, leading to her resting and directly leveling up afterward.
This is what you call defeating a boss for an upgrade.
Actually, she had already leveled up—but her health and spirit energy were low, and she needed to recover before confirming her promotion.
Now, he, Lin Nuo, was the man changing the course of the story.
The protagonist defeats the boss, but she’s low on health. He sneaks in to deliver the killing blow; she’s done for and can’t level up.
Will it restart?
No, game over!
The protagonist dies, and the villain triumphs!
