Chapter 17

Ye-in stood there vacantly, merely staring into space.

Of course, her pants were still slowly turning yellow.

I left that kid behind, whose pupils had vanished from their eyes, and returned home.

Who would have thought there could be such a clean and good method?

I should use it wisely in the future.

Since I didn’t cause any physical harm, I have no intention of granting any compensation they might request later. I just stared at that kid.

Everything that kid claims will be lies.

Go live the life of a lying lunatic.

You see, those who always make others shed tears of blood never think they’ll see blood themselves.

It’s time to reflect on why the word “karma” exists, Ahn Ye-in.

When I got home, my younger sister was leisurely looking at her smartphone.

“I’m home.”

“Welcome back. Did you come a bit early today?”

“Early? Do you think 4 PM is early, you little thing?”

“But did something good happen? Why are you smiling so brightly?”

“Ah, I’ve settled an old grudge.”

“What? An old grudge?”

“Isn’t there that person, Ahn Ye-in?”

“Ah, that piece of garbage?”

The curse naturally flew out of my younger sister’s mouth. Right, she’s definitely my younger sister.

Just calling that garbage “that piece of garbage” while standing up for me? She’s definitely in the top 0.1% of younger sisters in Korea.

“Why that person?”

“I met her today. She’s living her university life carefree and well. After trying to ruin someone else’s life.”

“So, you just came back?”

“If I had, I wouldn’t be smiling like this, would I?”

“Ah, now I see. I was really worried that time. While watching you persistently arguing without any evidence, I wanted to rip your hair out.”

“There was that moment too. Anyway, I properly reeducated that piece of garbage today.”

“How? Did you hit her?”

“Am I crazy? If I did, she’d turn into minced meat. Seriously, it’s not an exaggeration—she’d become completely dead meat. Though I wanted to do that in my heart, there’s a much better method.”

“What method is that?”

“Threats… or something like that? It’s one of my abilities.”

“What do you mean, ‘threats’ is an ability?”

Thinking about it, this kid hasn’t read a single fantasy novel or anything like that. It’s going to be pretty hard to explain.

“Think about it. If a tiger was in front of you, how would you feel?”

“Scared, probably?”

“Exactly like that. It’s amplifying that fear. So… everyday life will be difficult for her moving forward.”

“Holy… you could do that?”

“Yeah. It’s convenient. The ability to exact revenge without physically hitting or harming someone. I controlled it appropriately, though. If I hadn’t, she would’ve probably died from a heart attack.”

“It’s impressive… but a bit scary.”

“Don’t worry, don’t worry. I don’t want to become a murderer either. But at the very least, I’ve reciprocated the damage she almost inflicted on my life.”

“No wonder you’re smiling so happily. What about dinner?”

“Not really thinking of anything in particular… why?”

“I have to go for tutoring soon, so I was thinking about eating something.”

“Let’s eat together then. What do you want to eat?”

“Chicken?”

“Sure.”

“Beer… isn’t going to happen, so let’s go with cola.”

“I’ll get the zero version.”

“Me too, zero.”

Friday arrived much quicker than expected. And what’s on Friday? Of course, the orientation.

You might wonder why I’m going to orientation when I’m already in my third year… but I made promises to the juniors, so I intend to go.

Also, my classmates were talking in the chat.

[Han Tae-hoon: Yo, Yun Seo-hyun, you’re really coming, right?]

[Yoon Seo-hyun: Yeah, I’m coming. Why?]

[Han Tae-hoon: Well, the student council president keeps asking if you’ll come.]

[Yoon Seo-hyun: Why does the student council president care?]

[Han Tae-hoon: She seems to want to get closer to you.]

[Yoo Han-gyeol: Honestly, a lot of people in the department now want to talk to you.]

[Yoon Seo-hyun: Really?]

[Yoo Han-gyeol: Yeah, the news spread that you’re not someone who randomly harms others, which might be why.]

[Yoon Seo-hyun: ;; Should I put on a fire show or something? It feels like I suddenly became popular.]

[Heo Ji-hoon: Fire show? lol That would be unforgettable for sure. I’m going too.]

[Jo Min-hyeok: This orientation is going to be interesting this time lol.]

[Han Tae-hoon: The people who met you the last time told others, so it seems to be spreading even more. Especially since Nam Su-yeon talks a lot…]

[Yoon Seo-hyun: ㅇㅎ I understand lol. Got it.]

The orientation is at 6 PM.

What we usually do during the orientation is introduce department events.

This time, it might just be a field trip. Or the literary creation club within the Korean department’s activities for the end of the year.

More or less an introduction, and then we all go to a restaurant and start drinking.

University events usually start out formal but end in drinking sessions.

Just in case, I let my younger sister know ahead of time.

[Yoon Seo-hyun: Yo.]

[Yoon Seo-Ah: What?]

[Yoon Seo-hyun: I have orientation today, so I’ll be home late.]

[Yoon Seo-Ah: Yeah, I have orientation too for business. I’ll also be home late.]

[Yoon Seo-hyun: Ah, is that so?]

[Yoon Seo-Ah: Have fun.]

[Yoon Seo-hyun: lol Got it.]

Orientation is in Room 104 of the College of Humanities.

There’s still some time left, but my classmates are waiting in the department lounge because there’s nothing to do anyway.

So, I guess I should head there too.

When I opened the door to the lounge room, it was filled with people. Immediately, I felt slightly dizzy.

What is this overwhelming energy of someone suddenly becoming popular.

The sound of the creaking door drew all the eyes inside to me.

“Ah, you’re here?”

“Hi, seniors!”

“Hello, hello. Han Tae-hoon, you too, hi. Are the others here?”

“Holding up in the bathroom.”

“Ah.”

“Still, you’re early?”

“Time just didn’t feel real… Anyway, if I’m going to the orientation, I decided I might as well hang out with you guys.”

“Then you should greet the others first. By the way, isn’t it your first time meeting them since orientation?”

“Who?”

“Hello, senior.”

“Ah, Kim Na-yeon junior. Hello.”

“Hahaha… It’s been a while.”

“Indeed, feels like we haven’t met for half a year.”

“More than that.”

“Is that so? Anyway.”

“Thank you for coming today. There were a lot of juniors curious about you…”

“Really?”

“Yes. And there were also a lot of students from the 15 class wanting to get close to you.”

Looking shyly at me was the student council president, Kim Na-yeon. From the 15 class, my immediate junior, though we aren’t particularly close.

I first met her when I almost entirely gave up on department activities, and the last time I saw her was during this year’s spring orientation.

So this is our first meeting in half a year. There’s quite an awkward vibe.

“Alright, it feels weird to die of awkwardness, so let’s get closer during the orientation… Hey, Seo-hyun.”

“What?”

“Is what you said on the group chat true?”

“What are you talking about, again?”

“Well, you said you’d show a fire display, right?”

“Ah.”

“Can we expect it?”

“Hey, don’t joke like that…”

“Wait, seriously!?”

At that moment, a familiar voice cut in. It was Nam Su-yeon.

“Well, it was just a joke…”

Yet, all the eyes of the juniors around were fixed on me, their expectations for that fire display sky-rocketing.

If I don’t show it, I might be the bad guy.

“Hey, don’t and show it just this once.”

Nearby, Heo Ji-hoon chipped in as well. These guys were obviously planning this all along.

Alright, whatever. There’s no reason not to do it. It’s not that hard.

“Fine, fine, got it. I’ll show it. Blame my big mouth.”

“Nice!”

“Our department’s dragons spew fire!”

“Heo Ji-hoon, Han Tae-hoon, you bastards, be quiet.”

Kim Na-yeon laughed loudly, clearly amused by our antics.

“Haha! What’s this?”

“Hey, Na-yeon. As I said before, this one isn’t scared of anyone.”

“Well, I did hear that…”

“What, Na-yeon junior, were you scared of me?”

“Back then, there was no one who wasn’t scared of you. They just wanted to get closer, but were a bit scared.”

“Agreed, agreed.”

“Was I that intimidating?”

“Hey, ask ten random people on the street, they’d all say they were too scared to even approach you.”

“Was I that frightening…”

“Whatever, it’s different now, so don’t worry about it. Anyway, I wonder how other juniors will react? To me, the hottest spot this time feels like where Yoon Seo-hyun is.”

“Likely. Can I join the fun too?”

“Bring some beer or fruit soju. I can’t get drunk anymore, so I’ll just enjoy some tasty food.”

“Got it!”

“Alright, time is almost up. Let’s go, everyone.”

“Yes!”

The orientation ended as anticlimactically as always.

The main event of the orientation was the drinking session after the meeting ended.

There, I had to nervously sweat it out as juniors kept coming towards me.

Why are they so curious about me?

It makes sense to some extent, but it’s still too much.

“Senior, are you thinking about dating anyone?”

“No way. I was a guy until recently, how would I date?”

“Ah.”

“Are there any inconveniences being a woman?”

“Yes. The longer hair when washing is annoying…”

“How about makeup?”

“I don’t wear any.”

“Ugh, you’re such a tease!”

The person asking these questions is our student council president.

Namely, Kim Na-yeon. She loosens up a lot once the alcohol kicks in.

Watching her is kind of funny.

Then, I suddenly felt someone sit next to me. It was Si-hyun. She probably found our conversation interesting, as she had a slight smile.

“Hey, Si-hyun! Did you come to see your older sister? Come on, have a drink, and I’ll pour you one.”

Our Si-hyun junior is evidently favored by the student council president as well. Seeing Kim Na-yeon, she greeted her cheerfully and took a sip of alcohol.

“Hello, sister. Are you in high spirits today?”

“Indeed. Our legendary senior came to the orientation after a million years, so naturally, I’m in high spirits. Anyway, senior. Are you really not doing makeup? What a waste.”

“Yeah, I never learned and I don’t know how.”

“Oh, should I teach you?”

“Is it really necessary? I just use lotion.”

“Isn’t that a waste? A little makeup would make you look stunning.”

“Hm…”

“Let’s try once. Si-hyun, don’t you have a pouch nearby? Can I borrow it?”

“Ah, this one? Sure!”

Hang on, girls. Why is it suddenly turning into this?
