Chapter 17: You Stole My Token, Didn’t You?

Chapter 17: You Stole My Token, Didn’t You?

“Ah…”

As Aierjisi was wandering around Bield City with Yake, she suddenly collided with a young man rushing around the corner, and they both tumbled to the ground.

“Hey, watch where you’re going!”

The young man got up, disgust etched on his face as he eyed Aierjisi and Yake.

“Hah? Shouldn’t that be your fault?! I was just minding my own business walking on the street, and you came barreling out of that corner!”

Aierjisi shot back defiantly. If the young man had just been a little nicer and admitted his mistake, this could have all blown over. But since he chose to be rude, she felt no need to hold back.

“Ah? What do you mean, you little brat? Looking for a fight?!”

The young man was further provoked by the Little Princess’s words and stormed up to her, glaring fiercely.

“This is the question I should be asking! You wanna fight me? With your pathetic skills?”

Aierjisi recognized instantly that this guy was all bark and no bite. His magic power was barely there and his body, due to long-term malnutrition, was as skinny as a rake. If he dared to pick a fight, she’d crush him with just her pinky finger!

“Alright, alright. Aier, don’t stoop to his level. We’re here to buy things, not to brawl. Just let it go, show some mercy for his poor soul.”

Yake quickly jumped in between them, trying to prevent a brawl between his Little Princess and an oblivious passerby. If she started throwing punches, that guy would probably wind up toast.

And in front of all these people, if the Little Princess killed someone, even with the City Lord’s protection, it would definitely create a whole lot of unnecessary trouble.

“Hmph. Fine, for the sake of my servant, I’ll let you off this time. Now scram. Don’t let me see you again.”

“You…”

“What about me? Do you really want a beatdown?”

Seeing the Little Princess speaking so arrogantly, the young man felt indignation boiling inside him and seemed ready to retaliate. But after glancing at Yake’s sword hanging by his waist and his muscular build, he could only turn away in defeat.

“Yake, why did you have to hold me back? I could have taken him out with just a pinky!”

Once the young man left, Aierjisi pinched Yake’s arm in frustration.

“Ouch! Aier, don’t forget, this is a human territory, not your Blood Clan’s kingdom. Here, we all have to follow the law. I know you could have easily taken him out, but have you thought about the consequences in front of so many people?”

Yake had no choice but to explain the rules of human society to the Little Princess; generally, you can’t just go around taking lives.

“Tch, what a hassle. I didn’t think I’d have to follow laws even in a world of swords and magic. In the novels, the protagonists can just ignore the rules, right? Isn’t just having power enough?”

Aierjisi seethed at her current situation. Damn it, being a traverser tied down by rules?! She must be the only one!

“Come on, it’s not that big of a deal. Endure a bit. For your grand dream of reviving the Blood Clan, this little bit of humiliation counts for nothing.”

Yake patted the Little Princess’s head to comfort her.

“Fine. I am a noble Blood Clan Princess, so this little grievance won’t faze me. I’ll bear with it! Now, let’s keep browsing to see if we can find a store selling tents.”

Aierjisi continued to lead Yake around the city, searching for a shop that sold tents.

“Speaking of which, shouldn’t we ask the patrolling guards? They should know where to find tents.”

“That sounds good. I’ll go ask them.”

Yake approached the two patrolling guards and tapped them on the shoulder from behind.

“Hello, big brothers in armor! I just arrived in Bield City and I’m not familiar with the place. Could you please tell me where I might find a store that sells tents?”

Yake flashed a standard service smile to show he was no suspicious character.

“Looking for tents? Just go straight ahead to the third intersection, turn left, and then head straight to the fifth alley. There’s a store selling tents there.”

The guards kindly pointed out the route to Yake.

“Great! Thank you, you two!”

Having gotten the specific location and directions, Yake happily thanked the guards and returned to Aierjisi.

“So, did you find out?”

“Yep, follow me!”

Yake turned and followed the directions the guards had given, with Aierjisi right behind him. They quickly found the store selling tents and explained the specifications they needed, along with some other camping gear.

“Yake, get the token out.”

Seeing the store owner had everything ready and was just waiting for payment, Aierjisi instructed Yake to pull out the token she had given him earlier on the road because it was heavy.

“Okay… huh? Where’s the token? It’s gone?!”

“What?! Gone? Hey, are you kidding me? I just handed it to you! How did it suddenly disappear?!”

Upon hearing Yake lost the token, Aierjisi started to panic. What use was this servant? She just asked him to hold onto a token, and he managed to lose it!

“Let me think… There shouldn’t have been any opportunity for that. Unless the only chance was… that young man I bumped into. I’ve heard that some pickpockets work in teams, one distracts the target while the others steal their belongings.”

Yake finally recalled that the token was likely snatched during their earlier encounter.

“You… I don’t even know what to say to you. Boss, are these gold coins enough?”

Aierjisi opened her subspace and pulled out ten gold coins, which should be enough to buy the tent and camping supplies.

“That’s enough, that’s enough.”

“Good. Yake, hurry up and pack these items, then we’re going to find that thief and kick his butt! How dare he steal from me, he must be tired of living!”

The Little Princess’s expression turned frighteningly fierce. This token that she had just received from a fellow clan member was stolen before it had even warmed up in her hands! Could she tolerate this? Especially since that thief had made her so furious, if not for Yake holding her back, she would have already beaten him to a pulp. Yake had given him a chance, but sadly, that guy was just useless!
