Chapter 174: Young Master Lin, Danger Ahead
Previously…
The icy aura surrounding Su Hua had somewhat dissipated.
The negotiation for cooperation was proceeding smoothly.
Watching Su Hua sign her name, the old boss finally put his heart at ease.
“President Su, it’s a pleasure to cooperate.” The boss’s eyes were so happy they squinted into slits.
“Hmm.”
Su Hua gave a faint response and then stood up to leave.
Su Hua sat in the back seat of the car.
Her slender, pale fingers pinched her brow, her deep eyes still filled with a shadowy gloom.
Jiang could feel the cold air emanating from Su Hua.
“President Su,” Jiang asked cautiously, “are you going to the company now, or back to Night Garden to see…Young Master Lin?”
“Back to the company.” Su Hua said firmly.
“President Su, should we ask Young Master Lin about Shen Qianqian?” Jiang probed.
Young Master Lin wouldn’t possibly do what Lin Li said, seduce Shen Qianqian.
As for Young Master Lin wanting to obtain Shen Group, that was utterly absurd.
Ten Shen Groups couldn’t match one Suzhou Group.
If it weren’t for controlling Young Master Lin, President Su might have already given Suzhou Group to him by now.
“No need.” Su Hua’s voice was icy.
“Oh, okay.” Jiang nodded.
Jiang was preparing to start the car when Su Hua’s voice came from the back seat again, “Send someone to investigate Shen Qianqian. I need her information when I get to the company.”
“Yes.”
Jiang felt like Su Hua was about to be pickled in a vinegar jar.
What was strange was that he didn’t sense President Su being angry; instead, she seemed to be suppressing something.
Lin Xuan also returned to Night Garden.
If Su Hua were here, she would definitely be waiting for him on the sofa in the living room downstairs.
This time, he didn’t see Su Hua’s tall and elegant figure.
“Where’s Hua Bao? Hasn’t she come back yet?” Lin Xuan asked.
“Yeah, Miss specially called to tell you not to wait for her. She has some things to handle and will be back late tonight,” Butler Wang respectfully replied.
Lin Xuan always felt something was off.
The fact that Su Hua didn’t call him directly but informed Butler Wang about coming back late was unusual.
“AQiu.”
“AQiu.”
Lin Xuan sneezed several times in a row.
“Who’s cursing me?” Lin Xuan rubbed his itchy nose.
Worried that something might have happened, Lin Xuan called Su Hua.
Su Hua’s phone kept ringing.
She sat in the car, tightly pursing her lips, only staring at the contact name—Ah Xuan.
The air pressure inside the car was extremely low.
Jiang drove cautiously.
“Strange,” Lin Xuan muttered while looking at his phone, “this is the first time she hasn’t answered my call.”
Could something really have happened?
Lin Xuan couldn’t help but call Jiang.
Seeing the incoming call information, Jiang asked, “President Su, it’s Young Master Lin calling. Should we answer?”
“Answer,” Su Hua murmured through her lips.
If she didn’t answer soon, Ah Xuan would worry.
Jiang slid the button to answer.
“Young Master Lin,” Jiang respectfully began.
“Secretary Jiang, Hua Bao said she’d be home earlier tonight. It’s already six o’clock, and she hasn’t returned yet. She’s not answering her phone either. Did something happen?” Lin Xuan worriedly asked.
Jiang glanced at the woman whose expression was dark and replied, “Young Master Lin, don’t worry. There’s just an urgent matter at the company that needs handling. President Su probably doesn’t want to be disturbed, so she turned her phone to silent mode.”
“That’s good.”
Lin Xuan sighed in relief.
“Remember to remind her to eat on time, don’t drink too much alcohol, and also cut down on coffee,” Lin Xuan reminded anxiously.
“Young Master Lin, please rest assured. I’ll keep an eye on President Su,” Jiang nodded.
After returning to the company,
Jiang also printed out the investigation files and delivered them to Su Hua’s office.
“You’d better ensure everything you’ve said is true,” Su Hua glanced at him coldly before speaking.
Lin Li felt a chill rise from his feet.
Su Hua turned away her gaze and continued walking towards the hotel.
As Su Hua’s figure disappeared,
Lin Li breathed heavily as if he had narrowly escaped death.
He just had this feeling that Su Hua wanted to kill him.
“President Su, shouldn’t you inquire about the situation from Young Master Lin?” Jiang, who followed behind Su Hua, couldn’t help but speak up.
“Not necessary,” Su Hua calmly replied.
A layer of worry crept into Jiang’s eyes.
President Su’s demeanor clearly indicated the calm before the storm.
This time, Young Master Lin was probably in danger.
Surrounded by a group of people, Su Hua arrived at the hotel lobby, drawing much attention with such a grand entrance.
They were all shocked by Su Hua’s beauty.
Shen Qianqian was among them.
Looking at Su Hua’s stunning face, her eyes were filled with jealousy.
Who exactly was this woman?
How could she look even more beautiful than herself?
For some reason, Shen Qianqian disliked Su Hua immensely. Her eyes were full of hostility.
“Tsk, putting on airs.”
Shen Qianqian said disdainfully.
“Qianqian,” her friend laughed, “some people flaunt what they lack. Don’t look at how many bodyguards she has following her around. She probably just has a bit of money and is pretending.”
Shen Qianqian snorted.
Isn’t she just pretending?
Among the upper-class women of Yun Capital, unless someone wasn’t qualified enough for her to meet, she had almost seen them all.
She had never seen this woman before.
So, her family background must not be great.
Shen Qianqian smirked arrogantly.
Without a good family background, having a pretty face was meaningless.
“Nope,” her friend added, “she’s not wealthy herself. She depends on a man to have so many bodyguards following her. Tsk, another mistress who rose to power through her body.”
“Alright, stop talking. Aren’t you tired of sounding dirty?” Shen Qianqian sneered.
Su Hua was there to negotiate cooperation with a boss. That boss felt an intense low-pressure atmosphere.
Throughout the discussion, he was extremely nervous talking to Su Hua.
They needed Suzhou Group’s technology and investment badly.
He was afraid of offending Su Hua. If Su Hua got angry, she might cancel the cooperation.
“Please wait a moment,” Su Hua said solemnly.
She stood up and walked towards the restroom.
When Su Hua disappeared from sight, the boss couldn’t help but ask Jiang, “Secretary Jiang, did I inadvertently touch upon something taboo to President Su just now?”
He had met Su Hua before.
She wasn’t as terrifying as she was today.
“President Su’s mood indeed isn’t very good,” Jiang nodded, “but it has nothing to do with you. Boss Wang, you don’t need to worry. President Su won’t vent her anger on you.”
In work-related matters, Su Hua generally didn’t act impulsively based on emotions.
Of course, work involving Lin Xuan was an exception.
“That’s good, that’s good.” The boss sighed in relief.
Inside the restroom.
Su Hua stood in front of the sink, splashing cold water on her face repeatedly.
After doing this a few times, the rage in her heart subsided slightly, keeping her from losing control.
Su Hua wiped the water droplets off her face and hands, then returned to the dining table.
