Chapter 19: Let’s Change Opponents!
“No way, we can’t keep going like this! If we do, we’re going to lose!”
Aierjisi gazed at Yake and his team, who were clearly on the back foot. Even after receiving a power boost, they were still no match for those Ultimate Life Forms. They needed to use their brains and think about what to do next because going head-to-head like this was clearly like trying to smash an egg against a rock.
What to do? What should they do next… Their power was no match for Diablo and the others head-on unless there was something to bridge that power gap… Hmm? Wait a second! What if they changed opponents?
“Yake. Hold on for a second, I’ve got a brilliant idea.”
“Uh? What kind of brilliant idea?”
Yake jumped away from the attacks, eager to hear the strategy Aierjisi had come up with.
“Can we really make that work?”
“Let’s give it a shot! If it doesn’t work, we’ll think of another plan. But we can’t keep this up, or we’ll all be defeated!”
Aierjisi wasn’t sure if her idea would actually work, but there was no choice. If they continued fighting like this, they would definitely be wiped out.
“Alright then, let’s give it a try. Ailin, Weirafiya! You two come over here! Stop fighting the enemy for now!”
“Uh? What are you talking about at a time like this?”
“If we don’t fight the enemies, what will we do?”
“Aier said she has a great idea. Come over, and I’ll explain it to both of you.”
“Uh? Just wait a second, I’ll be right there.”
“Me too!”
As soon as they heard it was Aierjisi asking them to come over, Ailin and Weirafiya immediately changed their attitudes. They quickly created some distance from the enemy and rushed to Yake’s side.
“What did Aierjisi come up with? Tell us!”
“She said that if we keep fighting like this, we’re definitely going to lose. We need to find a way to turn the tide. We can’t just hit them head-on; we need to attack their weaknesses using our strengths. Only by doing that can we see hope for victory.”
“Okay, okay, enough with the details! Just tell us the plan already!”
Weirafiya was getting impatient; there was still fighting going on outside, and they didn’t have much time for this talk.
“Fine, I’ll get straight to it! Let’s switch our opponents. Ailin, you take on Freya; Weirafiya, you tackle Diablo, while I go for Titan. We’ll switch our enemies, and that should help us turn the situation around!”
Aierjisi’s idea was simple. Freya’s threads would become especially weak against ice, so let Ailin from the Ice Dragon Clan take her on. Diablo was incredibly strong, but correspondingly slow. With Weirafiya’s speed, she should be able to dodge his attacks and counter. As for Titan, his attack speed was fast, but the damage was relatively low. With her Blood Clan regeneration, Aierjisi could handle his attacks without fear.
“Can that actually work?”
“Let’s just try it! Continuing to fight like this isn’t a solution; you guys should feel how tough it’s getting.”
“That’s true. We’ve been really struggling against those opponents. Let’s go with this plan and see how it works!”
Weirafiya and Ailin agreed to Aierjisi’s suggestion of switching opponents, aiming to catch the enemy off guard.
“Freya, is it? This time, I’m here to fight you!”
“Oh, Diablo, long time no see! I didn’t get a chance to fight you last time, so let’s have a good match this time!”
“We probably don’t need to say anything else. Let’s just start!”
As it turns out, Aierjisi’s suggestion was spot on. After switching opponents, their situation improved significantly.
Freya’s threads turned into mere playthings in front of Ailin’s icy breath, snapping with ease.
“Is that really the best you’ve got? Can’t you show me some real skill?”
“Darn it! What’s wrong with this?! Why are my threads breaking against your ice? They were specially reinforced; they should hold against low temperatures!”
“Looks like you have no idea that the Ice Dragon Clan excels at crafting low-temperature ice! Your threads are nothing compared to mine!”
In front of Ailin, all of Freya’s attacks fell flat.
“Stop dodging, will you?! What’s the point of this ridiculous dance?”
Frustrated, Diablo yelled at Weirafiya, who kept evading his attacks. Each time he struck, she dodged effortlessly and counterattacked from a position of her choosing, making him feel utterly suffocated.
“I actually find this quite entertaining. Your attack speed is so slow, I could punch in my sleep while fighting you!”
Weirafiya lounged on a nearby rock, yawning while watching Diablo attack. His onslaught was so agonizingly slow that it failed to arouse her seriousness.
This only served to infuriate Diablo even more, and he launched a new round of attacks, yet it remained the same—she dodged with ease.
For the other two matchups, things were looking up as well. Yake was finding it even easier against Titan.
“Is that really all you can do? You’re just giving me a gentle rubdown here!”
Yake engaged Titan in close combat with his sword. Thanks to his Eye of the Observer ability, he quickly learned Titan’s swordsmanship, matching him blow for blow in a very short time.
“Interesting! You’ve picked up my sword techniques quickly and adapted them. You must have a talent for this! If you weren’t my enemy, I’d want to take you on as my apprentice.”
“Well, thanks for the offer, but too bad there’s no ‘what if’ in this scenario. As long as you guys are aiming to capture Aier as a sacrifice, I’m going to be your enemy. We have to fight!”
Yake seemed somewhat regretful about the situation. If he weren’t fighting against this guy, he would have gladly learned swordsmanship from him. But unfortunately, the world doesn’t entertain ‘what ifs.’
