Chapter 19: Wake Up, You Lazy Bum, Let’s Go Party!
“Anyway, I’m not doing that with you, just give it up.”
No matter how much Aierjisi tried to seduce Yake, he was adamant about not engaging in that kind of activity with her.
“So why is that? You clearly like me, right? So why won’t you give in and do it with me?”
Aierjisi was at a total loss about what was going on in Yake’s head. He said he liked her, and she was trying her hardest to entice him. But this guy just wouldn’t budge. Was there something she was lacking in some way?
“This is two different things. I like you, but to do that right now? I can’t accept it. That’s just how it is, I’m going to sleep now.”
Yake wasn’t planning on prolonging the struggle with the Little Princess any longer. He pulled the covers over himself, ready to drift off to sleep.
“I haven’t given you permission to sleep yet, get up! I won’t let you sleep tonight until I’m satisfied!”
Seeing that Yake was about to lie down, she panicked. She immediately started pestering him relentlessly, but Yake remained unmoved.
“Are you done making a scene? If you’re done, hurry up and sleep. We have a lot to do tomorrow.”
“Damn it. Yake, are you even a man? I’m putting in all this effort and you’re still completely indifferent, it’s infuriating!”
Aierjisi was seriously fed up with Yake. She had been trying so hard to seduce him, yet he still showed no interest in her at all.
“So I’m telling you, I’m not going to do that with you right now, so give up on it. When the time comes, you won’t even need to ask, I’ll do it.”
“Fine, I’ll just wait then. But in exchange, I want a goodnight kiss from you right now. Just say yes or no. If you don’t even give me a goodnight kiss, then you can forget about sleeping tonight.”
Aierjisi decided to make a small compromise. It didn’t matter anyway; Yake was already quite attached to her, he truly couldn’t live without her. So she figured it would be easy to get him to give her a goodnight kiss. Surely that was a request he would agree to, right?
“Huh? A goodnight kiss? Aier, you’re surprisingly persistent about this stuff! But fine, since I can’t do anything about you, here’s your goodnight kiss.”
Yake had no choice but to indulge the clingy Little Princess. He turned over, pinned her beneath him, leaned down, and gave her a goodnight kiss.
“There, is that good enough? If it’s fine, then let’s hurry up and sleep, we have a lot to do tomorrow.”
After completing the task, Yake lay back down to continue sleeping, leaving Aierjisi staring at her lips in disbelief.
*Wow, he really kissed me! Am I dreaming?!*
To verify whether this was a dream or not, she pinched her cheek hard.
“Ow, that hurt. Guess this isn’t a dream; it’s reality.”
The pain in her face confirmed without a doubt that this was real.
Looks like Yake really does love her. At least when she asked him for a goodnight kiss, he really did agree and gave one.
“Well, since I got my goodnight kiss, I better go to sleep now. Tomorrow we need to hunt some magical beasts.”
With her wish granted, Aierjisi contentedly snuggled into bed and fell into a deep sleep.
The next morning…
“Aier. Time to get up. Stop sleeping. We need to prepare for today’s tasks.”
Early in the morning, Yake threw open the curtains of the room, peering at the sky slowly brightening outside. He shook Aierjisi, who was still huddled in bed, trying to wake her up.
“Good morning, Yake. What time is it now? Hasn’t the sun even risen yet?”
Aierjisi climbed out of bed, stretching with a yawn, like a tough guy waking up.
“It’s about that time. The sun is almost up. We need to get moving. Didn’t we promise Mr. Gaia we’d go hunt magical beasts today? Lazing in bed is definitely a bad habit. Get up quickly!”
“Fine, I’ll just sleep for another three minutes first.”
Aierjisi flopped back down, trying to sneak in a little more sleep. But Yake wasn’t having any of it. He firmly pulled her from the bed and led her into the bathroom.
“No way. As a Princess, you absolutely must avoid the bad habit of sleeping in. Come on, first use the bathroom, then wash your face and brush your teeth.”
With Yake’s help, Aierjisi completed the whole grooming routine. Although she managed the bathroom part herself, Yake did everything else for her—washing her face and brushing her teeth—while she just stood there, waiting like a princess.
“Good morning, Miss Aierjisi and Mr. Yake. You two are up so early!”
They both wondered whether Gaia would still be asleep, worried about bothering him by visiting so early. But once they entered his room, they realized the truth.
Gaia hadn’t slept at all that night!
“Mr. Gaia, are you okay after staying up all night? You are the king of this country, you know.”
Aierjisi said, eyeing the steaming cup of coffee on the table, concerned for Gaia’s health.
“It’s fine, I’m the king, so there’s a lot of work to do. And… on nights when Ailin isn’t around, I just can’t sleep at all.”
Gaia gazed sadly out the window. He had no idea where his wife was, whether she was alive or dead. In such a situation, how could he possibly sleep?
“Hmm. I do understand how you feel, Mr. Gaia. I’ve been through a similar time myself.”
Aierjisi empathized. When she had just come out of the ruins and signed a contract with Yake to enter human society, there were countless nights when she missed her Blood Clan siblings, not knowing how they were faring in this world, leaving her utterly restless.
Those were tough times for her. Not knowing who the enemy she needed to defeat was, and being tormented by longing, she couldn’t sleep at all. She could only train with Yake every day, trying her best to pass on everything she had learned to him. Luckily, Yake was quite capable. Even though he constantly complained that the training was too much for a human to bear, he ultimately endured it, completed the training, and transformed those moves into his own strength.
Yake’s successful graduation was the only comfort Aierjisi had during that time.
