Chapter 19: You guys are just here for my amusement

“Three against one? Aren’t you guys a little unsporting? Shouldn’t it be a fair duel?”

Freya effortlessly dodged the attacks from the two of them. Only Carl’s strikes were tricky to avoid, so she just had to take his hits head-on.

“For a pest like you, there’s no need for fair play. Just go all out!”

After the previous battle, Aierjisi was even more convinced that with all three of them teaming up, they could easily suppress this woman.

“That’s a bit harsh, don’t you think? It’s like you view me as some villain on a rampage.”

“Isn’t it clear as day?!”

Aierjisi and Yake flanked her from both sides while Carl watched the situation, deciding when to strike. Freya was feeling quite frustrated being cornered by the trio.

“It looks like you guys really want to push me to my limits. It’s time you understood the consequences of provoking a lady.”

Freya jumped back to create some distance. What she initially thought would be a playful encounter had turned into something quite unpleasant. It was time for them to see her serious side.

“I’d like to see just how serious a lady can get when angry.”

Aierjisi leaped toward her, trying to close the gap and keep up the pressure.

“Danger! Get back, don’t get close to her!”

Carl frowned, sensing the danger, and shouted for his daughter to retreat, but it was too late.

“Guh… What is this? My body suddenly won’t move.”

Suddenly, Aierjisi seemed bound in midair, unable to budge.

“You’ve successfully irked me, little sister. Now, let’s see just how serious the consequences of angering a lady can be.”

Freya wiggled her fingers, controlling the threads that tightened around Aierjisi’s body. The sharp threads dug into her skin, leaving cuts as they tortured her.

“What is this supposed to be?”

Aierjisi was baffled and unaware of Freya’s tricks.

“Let my daughter go, now!”

Carl shot a fireball at the threads. But unlike before, these threads seemed resistant to high temperatures. Carl’s fireball was utterly ineffective.

“Nani?!”

“Useless! The threads I’m using now aren’t the same as those puppet threads. These are blade threads, specifically designed to slice through flesh. They’re not that easy to burn through, and low temperatures won’t work either.”

Seeing the shocked expression on Carl’s face, Freya felt quite satisfied. Unlike the puppet threads that controlled others, these blade threads had superior durability to both high and low temperatures and could easily cut through human skin.

“Ugh!”

As Freya continued to tighten her grip, Aierjisi writhed in pain, fearing she’d be torn into uneven pieces.

“Then I’ll try to cut these threads myself.”

Yake, undeterred, drew out his own threads and swung at Freya’s, but like before, his attack was easily deflected.

“No way. Damn it. Aier, do you have any ideas?”

Watching Aierjisi suffer, Yake couldn’t bear to just stand by. Was there anything he could do to lessen her pain?

“Kid, you need to step aside; I’m about to unleash something big. You better protect yourself, or I can’t be responsible for what happens.”

Since his simple fireball didn’t work, Carl prepared for something more powerful, wanting to see just how long these threads could withstand his power.

“Oh? Big brother, you’re going to get serious? Let’s see whose flames are stronger against my threads.”

Freya’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she watched Carl gather a massive fireball. It had been a while since she’d encountered such an amusing toy, and she was thrilled to play.

“Ha!”

Carl hurled the enormous fireball at the threads, setting them ablaze. Aierjisi was freed from her bindings.

“Aier.”

Yake rushed forward to catch her as she fell, cradling her in his arms. Seeing the cuts on her body made Yake wince in pain.

Damn, that woman really went for it! How dare she hurt Aier like this?!

“Kid, calm down. Take Aier to a quiet place to rest. It’s time for me to handle this as the adult here.”

Carl gazed seriously at Freya; this woman was worth using his full power against. For his daughter, he had to fight this battle to the bitter end.

“I understand. Please be careful.”

Yake knew he couldn’t help any further and took Aier away for safety.

“Oh? You want to play with me now, big brother? I’d love to have some real fun. That little sister and that little guy just aren’t enough!”

Freya watched the duo leave, having originally thought they were formidable contenders. Turns out, they were just average; she couldn’t understand why Gilbaris and the others struggled with even such weak opponents.

“Is that what you call play? My daughter was almost killed by you just now!”

“Yep! That’s exactly what I mean! At least for me, this is just fun. This world exists for my enjoyment, and you living in it are merely my toys.”

“So, for you, everything in this world is just a toy… no, an amusement park?”

“Pretty much! After all, your worth is limited to this. You should feel honored to be my toy; after all, not everyone gets the chance to be one.”

After hearing Freya’s words, Carl stopped conversing. He realized just how twisted her worldview was.

But then again, she wasn’t even a part of this world; it’s normal for someone with such a different perspective to exist.
