Chapter 193: Dual Domains Unleashed!
“Grinding monsters? What do you mean?”
Yukinoshita Yono expressed her doubt.
“Haven’t I explained it already? There’s a cursed spirit appearing.”
Without further ado, Lin Qi commandeered control of Yukinoshita Yono’s body, patted the bird-back of Nue, urging it to descend in flight.
The colossal owl-like familiar soared through the night sky, weaving between towering buildings, and quietly transformed into a shadow, vanishing into the darkness.
The girl appeared atop the roof of an old school building, “This is elementary school territory. Places like schools and hospitals tend to breed cursed spirits.”
Lin Qi extended his hand, forming a seal that cast a barrier, ensuring no noise would disturb the quiet evening.
He pushed open the old school building’s tightly locked metallic door. The lock chains, corroded with rust, easily snapped under the delicate touch of his hand, as if they were brittle noodles.
Isn’t it inappropriate to damage public property like this so casually? Yukinoshita Yono found Lin Qi’s actions somewhat unjustifiable after all, he was using her body as a vessel.
“No worries, since it’s an old school building, a bit of damage is expected.” The black-haired youth replied nonchalantly before activating Yukinoshita Yono’s technique using her energy.
“Curse Energy is stable, so the techniques should be… ” His duplicate clenched its fist, confirming its condition before glancing at an ugly head poking out from around the corridor corner.
A mere second later, the cursed spirit’s head fell onto the wooden floor, rolled twice, and crumbled away into ashes in the air.
“Technique activation successful,” Lin Qi smiled.
To have the techniques operate perfectly was truly a pleasant surprise, even if their power had diminished slightly, it wasn’t really a significant issue.
“Um… That ugly creature is a cursed spirit?”
For Yukinoshita Yono, seeing a cursed spirit for the first time caused an unsettling feeling; she didn’t feel any physical discomfort only because Lin Qi was manipulating her body. Otherwise, she’d probably be experiencing severe nausea by now.
“Yeah, it’s a Grade 4 cursed spirit, not the main player just yet.”
Lin Qi and his clone proceeded along the corridor, their footsteps echoing increasingly loudly.
Looking back, the corridor was filled with duplicates—seven in total—arranged in two neat lines as if they were a company of soldiers prepared for morning exercises, far outnumbering the twenty he had created when the scene started in the bathroom.
“Combined with this technique, I get the sense Tokyo could be obliterated in five minutes.” Lin Qi walked while remarking in a tone that evoked fear.
“Are you some kind of Armageddon king?” Yukinoshita Yono quipped.
“The full domain activation… probably unnecessary.” Lin Qi assessed the boundaries of Yukinoshita Yono’s technique.
To be compatible with the technique is impressive enough. If clones could activate domains simultaneously, it would be truly terrifying.
Imagine three hundred open-style exorcising kitchens descending upon Shinjuku. Even twenty thousand cursed spirits wouldn’t stand a chance.
“But it’s worrying if we don’t try once,” Lin Qi halted, extending both hands to form the Amatsu Ten hand seal—the realm seal.
Those duplicates mimicking Yukinoshita Yono formed the hand seals as well. Predictably, they met failure, including Lin Qi who failed in manifesting the domain himself.
He wasn’t disheartened—merely collected the clones back, then used forty percent of his curse energy to summon another one—a feat reaching the limit of energy allocation.
Lin Qi formed the hand seal once more.
In the blink of an eye, his face broke into a delighted smile, “Domain manifestation: Exorcising Kitchen.”
From beneath, a crimson barrier spread outward, enveloping the entire old school building in seconds, with two altars rising behind him and the remaining clones.
“The boundary of the domain has shrunk, but it’s still manageable,” Lin Qi’s lips curled upwards. “How about this?”
Clones grasped the meaning instantly, altering the hand gestures, “Domain manifestation: Integrated Dark Shadow Court.”
With the dual layered domains engaging instantly, the shadow spread like a tidal wave from under each clone’s feet, continuing until it covered the exorcising kitchen’s range.
Ten shadow techniques released from his hands unveiled the domains, astonishingly becoming fully open-domain forms themselves!
All cursed spirits within the old school building were suddenly seized by an immense, sculpture-like arm emerging from the shadow, crushed into pieces the moment its grip tightened.
“The certainty of the domain effect can stack,” Lin Qi’s grin grew crazier. “Yono, you’re a pleasant surprise!”
Stop making such villainous expressions with my face! Yukinoshita Yono said without amusement. Furthermore, our relationship hasn’t reached the point where I call you by your name directly.
“That’s because you let me.” Lin Qi explained.
That’s twenty-year-old me speaking… right now, I’m fourteen.
“No problem, even twenty-year-old self’s directive was to distinguish us. Since you prefer otherwise, I’ll refer to you by Yuino instead.” He shrugged it off as trivial.
Then, continue calling me Yuno. The short-haired girl corrected instantly.
“Alright, Yuno,” The black-haired youth conceded seamlessly.
Reabsorbing the domains, canceling the clones, Lin Qi felt his curse energy depleted severely, generating unrest in his heart—a vague anxiety of insufficient strength.
“The toll is steep. Using two domains simultaneously consumed ten percent of my curse energy.” Lin Qi clucked his tongue.
Since your trial is over, get going. Yukinoshita Yono sensed a premonition of something amiss, losing connection with her divided self after letting Lin Qi manage her body.
“I’m heading back.”
…
“Glug glug!”
“Yukinoshita Yuno” took a glass of champagne from the servant’s tray in a suit, drinking its yellowish liquid in a single breath at the top of the glass.
“Ha!” She smacked her lips and commented, “Not up to par.”
The servant twitched but maintained his cheerful facade, advising, “You may go to the bar for broader selections.”
“Sure, thanks.”
“Yukinoshita Yuno” waved, leaving an impressive silhouette behind.
Watching her approach the bar, the servant couldn’t help marveling inwardly at the nonchalance displayed by the wealthy kid.
The clone, resembling Yuno, sat on a tall chair at the bar, raising a finger, “A tequila on the rocks.”
The cocktail waitress studied the teenager’s youthful but charming face for quite a while before nodding in affirmation and preparing the drink.
Ordinarily, serving alcohol to minors isn’t permitted however, the gathering here is a private event hosted by esteemed society members, so everything becomes permissible.
Soon, a freshly mixed tequila was presented to Lin Qi.
After gulping down the drink, Lin Qi displayed a content expression, tapping the tabletop rhythmically with his fingers.
The bartender poured another drink to satisfy him.
As he continued his drinks, an alarmed and furious voice erupted behind the duplicate, “Yuno! What are you doing?”
Tapping footsteps!
Discovering his daughter had mysteriously disappeared for a while, Yuno mother finally spied a flushed-faced “Yukinoshita Yuno” at the bar.
“…Trouble.”
