Chapter 195 Part 5 Unaccounted-for Coma
“Hey, Demon-san, why did we end up like this?”
In a spacious room, Yukinoshita Yono lay sprawled on the bed in casual home attire, her eyes vacant as she stared at the familiar ceiling, full of resentment.
She was grounded for a week. Apart from school, she could only stay at home.
School days were okay, but today happened to be Saturday, which made things difficult. Being stuck at home all day was unbearably boring.
And all of this, thanks to some drunken demon.
“It’s all your mother’s fault,” Lin Qi said with righteous indignation. “If she hadn’t found us drinking at the bar, we wouldn’t have been grounded.”
“Heh.” Yono laughed sarcastically. “So I’m grounded for nothing, and you’re just sipping away while looking like me? Is that what you’re saying?”
“There’s still a connection,” Lin Qi shook his head and said, “If you weren’t underage, things wouldn’t have been as complicated.”
“…”
Yukinoshita Yono was utterly speechless now. She had met people who didn’t care about embarrassment before, but she had never seen anyone with skin so thick it could rival an AT Field.
Facing punishment for something her mother caught her doing seemed bad enough, but now they were blaming her age too.
One could only say it was fitting for a demon to never take responsibility.
“It’s fine. At least you can let your clone stay at home while you go out to play,” Lin Qi consoled her.
“Can’t you just switch consciousness from my body to the clone’s?” Yukinoshita Yono asked. “Wouldn’t it be better if you just stayed at home and took the punishment?”
The short-haired girl’s body flickered, and then a white wisp detached from her, forming another Yukinoshita Yono standing by the bedside.
Lin Qi raised his eyebrows, finding her idea interesting, so he tried it—only to fail as expected.
“It won’t work; the clone created by the technique cannot house your soul,” Lin Qi’s shared vision started to blur just as he spoke, turning pitch black the next second.
When Lin Qi attempted to transfer his consciousness to the clone, Yukinoshita Yono suddenly felt a splitting headache and drowsiness. The clone, flickering twice, returned to her body and disappeared.
After a brief struggle, she closed her eyes and fell unconscious on her bed.
“Fainted?”
In the domain of souls, the black-haired young man looked startled and hurriedly examined the short-haired girl’s condition. He discovered that her curse energy had been depleted instantly.
“What’s going on?” Jiuhua frowned, unable to figure out what exactly happened and could only wait for Yukinoshita Yono to wake up on her own.
Yukinoshita Yono slept through from morning until night, and during that time, a domestic worker knocked on her door once, but there was no response.
“Yukinoshita? It’s time for dinner.”
When it was dinner time, the door was knocked again, and Yukinoshita’s mother’s voice came from outside.
There was still no answer inside, and Yukinoshita Yono continued to sleep soundly.
Even though she had put on a yukata and styled her hair neatly inside her house, she opened the door and walked directly to her bedridden daughter.
Seeing her eldest daughter asleep, Yukinoshita’s mother frowned subconsciously.
Yukinoshita Yono suddenly fell unconscious; the hem of her light yellow shirt flipped up, revealing a smooth and fair belly. Her thin legs were casually placed over the slightly disheveled bedding, giving her an unkempt appearance.
“Why do you want to waste time sleeping? There are many ways to pass the time, but why use it so idly? This will disrupt your schedule and prevent you from coming for lunch…”
Yukinoshita’s mother sighed. Unexpectedly, her usually excellent and prideful eldest daughter had such carefree habits in private life, which couldn’t be ignored.
A person of excellence would even maintain a neat daily routine.
What’s more, she secretly attended the banquet yesterday and went drinking at Yu Fiqun’s place. Could this be the rebellious phase parents often speak of?
“Yukinoshita, wake up; it’s time for dinner.”
Seated beside the bed, Yukinoshita’s mother gently nudged the short-haired girl, but she showed no reaction. If not for her steady breathing, she might have thought something was wrong with her daughter.
“Yukinoshita?”
With increased volume, she shook her further, but still, no response. She slept deeply like a dead pig; perhaps even an earthquake couldn’t wake her.
“Strange, is Yukinoshita sleeping this soundly?” she frowned with confusion, but seeing her daughter, she realized her health was fine, just an unusually good sleeper.
Unable to wake up the sleeping Yukinoshita, her mother had to accept reality and left, leaving a dinner in the fridge for when her daughter would finally wake up.
Although they could prepare a new dinner after Yukinoshita woke up, since her current situation caused her to miss dinner time, she would have to bear the consequences herself.
It wasn’t until around eight o’clock at night that Yukinoshita Yono slowly regained consciousness.
“Mm, I must have… unintentionally fallen asleep?” she sat up groggily, rubbing her eyes and muttering. Her hair was disheveled, strands sticking out, making her look more adorable than usual.
She checked her phone: “Wow, it’s already past eight! Did I really sleep for so long?”
“It’s because your curse energy inside your body depleted all at once causing you to fall unconscious,” Lin Qi explained.
“What did you do now?” Yukinoshita Yono frowned and asked.
There was no need to ask; it was definitely that guy’s doing.
“I only tried to project myself into your clone like you said,” Lin Qi said helplessly. “Honestly, I don’t know what happened either.”
“So you’re innocent?” Yukinoshita Yono asked sarcastically.
“No, I think projecting the consciousness led to your unconscious state, but I don’t know why yet,” this time Lin Qi admitted honestly without dodging responsibility.
“Hmph…”
Gurgle~
Having missed both lunch and dinner, Yukinoshita’s stomach protested loudly. She clutched her stomach and said, “Forget it, since it can’t be helped, let’s eat first.”
“Right, while you were unconscious, the maid and your mother both came to find you, but couldn’t wake you up,” Lin Qi reminded her.
Stood from the bed, dressed her slippers, and about to open the door to leave, Yukinoshita Yono froze.
She foresaw the image of her mother calmly waiting for her at a clean table.
Suddenly, she didn’t feel very hungry anymore.
But avoiding the situation would not solve the problem, she couldn’t hide in the room forever. Yukinoshita Yono was certain that no matter how late she stayed up in her room, when she went to the refrigerator for food, she’d see her mother sitting there, in the dark.
Taking a deep breath, the short-haired girl grasped the doorknob, gritting her teeth and saying fiercely:
“Lin Qi, you’ve really caused problems!”
