Chapter 198: Master, It’s the Enlightenment of the Gods! (4 Updates)
Lin Nuo was really annoyed and could only sip some tea to cool down.
What in the world was going on?
“I heard you live around here. Not bad, this inn has a great atmosphere. I was planning to stay here too.”
“Come on, how could someone like you, a young lady of status, possibly get used to it?”
“How do you know I wouldn’t be comfortable? How about I stay with you? Then at night, I can watch you take off your makeup and see your true face?”
“I’m not that casual.”
The resolute Lin Nuo turned down Qin Shili’s cohabitation proposal.
One Ling Meng was already driving him up a wall, and now he had to deal with Qin Shili too. Not to mention if they would even get along; just handling them was enough to drive him mad.
He still vividly remembered the Spirit Spring explosion incident from back then, and they were on opposing sides—good and evil. If a fight broke out, it would probably hit the headlines again tomorrow.
Lin Nuo quickly changed the subject:
“What did you discuss with the sorcerers last time?”
“Nothing much, just speculating about your movements. They don’t know you well and aren’t aware that you like to use fake names and identities, of course, I didn’t tell them either. They think if you make a move, those two won’t be injured, but I know you; you would definitely use magic techniques to kill Cang Zhao. To keep outsiders from knowing, you’ll wait until they are defeated and unconscious, then make your move. Even if they get heavy injuries, they are not in life-threatening danger, and they recover quickly, which is definitely your doing to save their lives.”
“???”
I’m that amazing?
No way, that’s just their strong recovery ability, right? If I had such skills, would I bring my disciple to deal with Su Kexin?
So, they think I’m badass just because of you?
Thanks a bunch.
“Am I right?” Qin Shili sipped her tea and asked.
Yes, you’re right. You understand me better than I do.
“As long as you’re happy.”
Lin Nuo didn’t bother arguing back; the more he discussed it, the worse it would get. Who knew what version it would turn into after she finished listening?
These rumors were terrifying, and so were these women’s thought processes.
Lin Nuo nibbled on some pastries, sipping tea, and it was pretty decent.
Qin Shili continued, “When do you plan to go back?”
“Go back where?”
“To Tianling Mountain.”
“What?”
“Okay, I’ll rephrase. When do you plan to leave here?”
“Does it matter?”
“It matters.” Qin Shili said seriously.
“In a few days.”
Lin Nuo put down his teacup and replied,
“I won’t stay long.”
“That’s true; after all, the matters in Zhou Ling City are resolved, the Sacred Altar has been defended, and you must be looking for your next destination to promote your principles and ideals.” Qin Shili said.
“…”
Why does it sound like I’m wandering around promoting justice?
You think I want to? What nonsense justice, I’m a big villain, okay?
“Is that young lady going to follow you too?”
“Don’t worry about her; she has her own path.”
Lin Nuo took another sip of tea, biting into a Meat Floss Cake, looking out the window. This city was supposed to fall, supposed to become a desert ocean, but now, by some twist of fate, it was saved.
Let’s be real; Cang Zhao was going to destroy the Three Heaven Stone; I couldn’t care less about that. Just knocking out Su Kexin would’ve sufficed; why go through all that trouble to destroy the Three Heaven Stone?
Thinking I was the chosen one this time? Little did I know, the clown was actually me.
This was tough.
Qin Shili was staring at Lin Nuo, completely ignoring his makeup. To her, he was just the fair young master from the Xuanyun Sect in Tianling Mountain.
It was worth the long journey to enjoy tea with him in the common people’s quarters; not bad at all.
If they could share a room together, that would be even better.
Lin Nuo’s gaze shifted from the window back to the room, and for a moment, he locked eyes with Qin Shili.
There was a time when he longed to share a private room with the cold and beautiful Qin Shili, sipping tea, listening to the zither, and reciting poetry—an elegant interaction between gentlemen and ladies. It was a whimsical dream.
But now?
Forget being a gentleman; I’m a big villain now, no gentility here. Music was too noisy for me.
“You’re really an extraordinary person.”
Looking at Lin Nuo’s face, Qin Shili revealed a long-lost smile.
“You express the concept of being in the blue sky while yearning for the depths of despair perfectly, but it’s a pity I still grasp the essence. We have accomplished great feats time and again, yet the distance between us keeps growing.”
“What are you talking about?”
What’s up with this Qin girl? Coming over here to get all emo before noon?
No, this blue sky and abyss—where have I heard that before?
“Pew~”
Suddenly, a plump white cat jumped onto the window sill, licking its lips.
Lin Nuo seemed to recall something.
Hmm? That was the talking cat, along with a little note from the book.
Book Pavilion, yes, “One Hundred Years of Solitude.”
It wouldn’t be her, would it?
But even if it is, what does it have to do with me, Lin Nuo?
It’s definitely just some emotional nonsense.
“You know,” Qin Shili said.
“I don’t know.”
“Then let it be unknown. Anyway, I wouldn’t let you bring it up voluntarily. The benefit of being with you is that I’ve begun to learn to gauge other people’s intentions. If I can see through yours, then I can easily see through everyone else’s as well.”
“…”
So this is what you gained from your ability to gauge intentions? Pushing me directly into the hero pit?
Good grief, if the whole world were filled with people like you, it’d probably be doomed soon.
Lin Nuo chatted with Qin Shili for a bit; it was time to go find his disciple.
“I’m heading back to Tianling Mountain soon. I hope to see you then.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Lin Nuo opened the door and climbed the wooden stairs back to his room.
Qin Shili also picked up her sword and quietly left the inn.
…
Lin Nuo opened the door to his room, and Ling Meng was sitting cross-legged on the bed practicing her breathing. Seeing Lin Nuo return, she quickly stopped and jumped off the bed.
“Master, Master, you’re back!”
“Nope, the one entering is not your Master.”
“Hey, what’s wrong, Master? Did someone make you mad?”
“No, stop practicing, let’s eat something.”
Lin Nuo placed the food he bought on the dining table, and the delicious aroma wafted towards Ling Meng.
The wontons smelled amazing; Master had been thinking about her taste all along.
“Master, Master! I have great news! My spirit energy and spiritual power have both increased! And the techniques I couldn’t comprehend before, I now understand! It’s so sudden, it just happened in the last two days! Master, could this be the Enlightenment of the Gods?!”
Ling Meng said excitedly; this feeling was truly unprecedented for her.
Lin Nuo: “…”
That’s not the Enlightenment of the Gods; it’s just a brain freeze!
Fine, I’m the one who’s brain-frozen.
Lin Nuo truly wanted to slap himself twice.
Talk about a jinx; whatever you say comes true.
However, he still maintained a serious demeanor:
“Yes, the Enlightenment of the Gods; you’ve triggered it. Great, it seems you’ve taken the first step. Keep up the hard work.”
