Chapter 2

“………Here.”

It was an unfamiliar ceiling.

“Clearly, I was getting out of the capsule when an electric shock happened…”

As I tried to assess the situation, I began to sense numerous things that were far too unfamiliar. My hands felt as thin as those of a middle school student, and my short hair had grown long enough to reach my waist.

The most important fact was…my third leg was gone, and in its place, there were lump-like forms with weight on my upper body.

“What…what is this?”

‘Status screen… But…my name is Yoon Se-ah?!’

<You have been reincarnated into this world.>

<Many stories and fates will come your way.>

<We dedicate this story to you for loving it.>

<May you survive as best as you can.>

‘So you just appear, hand this over, then just leave?’

It seems I’ve been reincarnated, right into the game I was playing until just moments ago, Academy Swordmaster.

In such situations, there’s usually someone—typically referred to as the developers or god—who reincarnates you. But there was none.

Anyway, this so-called god usually gives some vague instructions like: “If you want to return to your original world, complete this quest,” or “Hehe, if you disobey my quest orders (like saving the world), you will die.” There was none of that.

“…Is there really nothing at all?”

This system screen has absolutely nothing.

Truly, nothing.

An annoying shadow was clouding my vision.

“Ugh…my head.”

As I tried to focus, my vision kept getting blurry, so I shut my eyes tightly.

The moment I closed them, memories that I shouldn’t have began rushing through my mind.

A black screen appeared and changed to scenes of an unimaginable level of cruelty involving not an adult, but a little girl.

Sploosh!

“Aagh! It hurts, Fa…ther!!”

In the basement laboratory on the experiment table, a 10-year-old girl with her limbs chopped off and blood gushing out was screaming at a man dressed in a white coat.

However, the father figure stood expressionless and pressed a button to increase the intensity, and soon after, injected an unknown medicine into her neck.

“If you can’t even endure this, then you have no value to Yuseong Group. Let’s try injecting the next drug. Cry all you want, I won’t stop, but I will at least listen…”

Whiiiiirrrrrrrrrr!!

“AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH…!!!”

“Let’s see…your body is quickly regenerating from the severed legs. We should increase the concentration of the monster’s blood.”

The young girl never received love from her family. The reason was obvious.

As a daughter of a prestigious family, her abilities were far too insufficient.

Because she only possessed the skill <Natural Recovery>, where only her regeneration and healing abilities increased, she found herself on the experimental table under the hands of her father, Mr. Yoon Seong-ho.

Thus, she grew up treated almost as a non-existent child, unable to attend family dinner parties held to strengthen relationships.

‘In Yoon Se-ah’s family, she was nothing more than a test subject, no more or less.’

I knew her story of being brainwashed by her father, resisting to the end, but ultimately breaking mentally and physically from the experiments.

She spent every day before her escape to the academy on the experimental table. This leads to the later storyline in Academy Swordmaster where the Yuseong Group takes a major role.

“My beloved daughter, Se-ah, thanks to you, I’ve been able to conduct experiments without raising suspicion. Experimenting on random humans draws attention from the government, but your ability of natural recovery allows you to regenerate your limbs perfectly, making you the ideal lab rat!”

Mr Yoon Seong-ho explained how Yoon Se-ah, with the <Natural Recovery> skill, acted as the perfect lab rat, enabling experiments to transplant monster blood and flesh into humans without detection.

But to this degree, I didn’t expect it.

At least she had siblings, but only an older sister, four years older, who, like her father, bore a twisted demeanor.

Thwack!

“Ugh…?!”

“You’re weak! Trying to duel with you is like wasting breath. If you fall so easily, you’re doing nothing but tarnishing the Yuseong name. If you’re going to live like this, why not just hang yourself?”

Yoon Se-ah’s sister, Yoon Seol-hwa, cruelly bullied and abused her, claiming that instead of helping their proud father, she was only tarnishing their reputation by being so frail.

As Se-ah entered puberty, or perhaps accidentally discovering Yoon Seong-ho’s experiments, she apologized and attempted to treat her sister better, but it was too late. Yoon Se-ah’s broken heart was beyond repair like shattered glass, and Yoon Seol-hwa—now known as Lee Seol-hwa—left the house, running from the guilt.

Lee Seol-hwa.

From the original story, she was only described as an A-class hero who helped the protagonist, but I had no idea she was Yoon Se-ah’s actual sister and had bullied her cruelly.

Before I could fully sort through these chaotic memories, Yoon Se-ah had turned 17, and calamity approached.

After her sister left, Yoon Seong-ho started feeding Yoon Se-ah things like strengthening elixirs and monster corpses to the point of force-feeding.

And the final human experiment was performed on her.

Yoon Seong-ho, somehow acquiring it, gouged out one of Yoon Se-ah’s eyes and replaced it with the eye of a slain S-class monster. He didn’t even administer anesthesia, causing Yoon Se-ah to wail in pain, but all he did was shout and force the monster’s eye into her socket, ignoring her screams and relying on her <Natural Recovery> skill to handle the aftermath.

Afterward, cruel experiments stopped, but Yoon Se-ah’s young heart had been irreparably damaged.

‘Even as a child, she was being brainwashed.’

So she couldn’t refuse Yoon Seong-ho when he told her to come to the lab for experiments, regardless of the pain—simply because she had been conditioned to obey.

Before understanding the details, Yoon Se-ah’s story was tragic enough, but knowing these specifics made me feel a strange sense of disgust.

“……This was Yoon Se-ah’s story, no, my story.”

“……My head is spinning.”

My vision sparkled as if someone was swinging a coin to induce a trance, making everything blurry.

“Stop interfering and get lost…!”

In irritation, I waved my hand and heard a sound like ‘Kraack,’ along with the shattering of something.

This was Yoon Se-ah’s ability, <Psychokinesis (A)>.

“Finally, it’s quiet.”

I could see the device crushed and deformed beyond repair.

‘Of course, that was the problem.’

“Apparently, that was the correct answer.”

Finally, my blurred vision cleared, and I was able to grasp the full situation.

Judging by the interior, this was Raon Academy’s dormitory, specifically Yoon Se-ah’s private room.

‘So I’ve been reincarnated just before the start of the original story?’

“Hmm…a complicated situation. Truly avant-garde.”

‘Why is my speech pattern correcting itself like this? It wasn’t like that just a moment ago.’

“Hmm, this is…quite a troublesome situation?”

First, for some reason, the tone of my voice keeps correcting itself to sound oddly ladylike.

In my head, I think the words I want to say, but somehow, they come out in an unusually formal manner before I even realize it.

‘It feels like I’m babbling to myself.’

“Hmm…still, it seems the meaning and nuance are conveyed well, so that’s reassuring.”

Now that I’ve sorted out the internal situation, it’s time to check the external environment.

‘So, what is this thing?’

“Hmm…what is this incredibly unpleasant thing?”

Slowly rising from the bed, I stared at something in front of me.

<Indirect Brainwashing Device>

<Continuously implants subliminal suggestions, eventually making the user completely obedient>

Looking at the purple crystal fragments inside the little elephant statue, I sneered.

‘So this is what she was brainwashed with since childhood. Figures.’

There was no clear reason why Yoon Se-ah acted against the protagonist, other than her being brainwashed by the final boss’s influence, but this object was one of the prerequisites.

‘Then this was the object given by Yoon Se-ah’s father?’

“Ahhh, that’s right. This elephant statue must be the souvenir given by my ‘father,’ right?”

In the game, giving this item increases Yoon Se-ah’s affection and makes her comment, “It’s oddly similar to the monument Father gave me.”

My fragmented memory recalled that Yoon Se-ah received this as a gift from her father celebrating her entering the academy and kept it by her bedside.

But knowing the truth now, her father, Yoon Seong-ho, was nothing more than a cruel villain exploiting her.

‘…Hold on, does that mean the brainwashing is now lifted?’

“Even so, how should we navigate this obstacle?”

Just as I was deep in thought…

Bzzzzzzz!

[7:30]

“……Well, I should go down to gather information.”

I can’t stay in here forever with no information. And at least I know I’m in Raon Academy’s dormitory, having reincarnated into the body of the student council president, Yoon Se-ah.

I was worried about how to wear women’s underwear and skirts since I’ve never worn them, but…

“…This memory embedded in the body is quite convenient, isn’t it? I like it.”

Thanks to the instincts imprinted in Yoon Se-ah’s body, I managed to get ready rather easily and descended.
