“I heard that Lord Gaia was supposed to hold a wedding ceremony with Lady Ailin at the end of this month, but it seems that Lady Ailin has gone missing!”

“Really? Isn’t Lady Ailin quite fond of Lord Gaia? How could she suddenly disappear? Did someone kidnap her? That shouldn’t be the case; after all, Lady Ailin is the daughter of the Ice Dragon King, and she’s probably even stronger than Lord Gaia!”

“I heard the kidnapper is an incredibly powerful guy. Even if both Lady Ailin and Lord Gaia teamed up, they wouldn’t be a match for him!”

“No way, is there really such a monster in this world?”

“I’m not too sure either; I just heard it from other soldiers. When they saw Lord Gaia, he didn’t have a single good patch of skin left. He got beaten up really badly!”

“What do we do now? If Lady Ailin is taken, the Ice Dragon King will definitely not let us humans off the hook; he’ll wipe us out for sure!”

While the two soldiers on guard were chatting, a beam of white light in the sky caught their attention. In this dim sky, the bright light stood out, and it seemed to be getting closer to them!

“Oh crap, run!”

Realizing that the white light was heading their way, the two soldiers quickly dove behind the city wall. When it came to duty or staying alive, staying alive took precedence!

After a deafening crash, the two timid soldiers finally peeked outside.

“Uh… Yake, are you sure this thing is supposed to be used like this? It hurts so much! I feel like my butt might split open.”

Aierjisi rubbed her backside as she got up from the snow. The impact from the fall was just… too intense! If she were an ordinary human, she definitely would have been killed by that landing.

“Uh… the manual says to do it this way.”

Yake also struggled to get up, still clutching the crystal’s instruction manual in his hand.

“Let me see that.”

Aierjisi snatched the manual from Yake’s hand and looked through the usage instructions.

“Yake, come here, I’m giving you a buff.”

After browsing through the manual, Aierjisi instantly entered rage mode. Seriously, this idiot Yake, did he even read the whole manual? The demonstration he read was completely wrong!

“Huh? What buff?”

Yake was still clueless about what he was about to face, foolishly leaning his head closer.

“I told you to read the manual thoroughly! You almost caused my butt to split open, no— it *has* split! If I weren’t from the Blood Clan, I would have definitely died from that impact.”

Aierjisi immediately started punching and kicking Yake, making him howl in pain.

“Um… are those… humans?”

Watching the two “fighting” in the snow, the soldiers could hardly believe their eyes—could that beam of light really have been two people?!

“Should we, you know, go check?”

One soldier whispered, suggesting that they investigate whether those two were actually human.

“Why should it be me? Why don’t you go?”

The soldier grumbled, clearly reluctant to approach. What if they turned out not to be human and ended up getting killed?

“I outrank you, so go!”

Seeing that the reluctant soldier wouldn’t obey, the other soldier used his rank to force him to comply.

“Tch, fine, I’ll go. What’s the big deal?”

Grumbling internally, the soldier slowly approached Aierjisi and Yake.

“Hey, you, take a good look at this manual and read the whole thing for half an hour!”

Aierjisi plastered the manual onto Yake’s forehead, making sure he absorbed all its contents.

“Okay, okay, it’s all my fault, I admit it! Just don’t hit me anymore, ouch!”

Yake let out pig-like squeals as Aierjisi continuously beat him.

“Um, you two…”

Seeing that the two were indeed human, the soldier quietly greeted them.

“Huh? Get lost! Can’t you see I’m dealing with my servant here?”

Aierjisi, now fuming, yelled at the soldier to go away.

“Yikes!”

With Aierjisi’s shout, the soldier could only scurry back into the city in defeat.

“Wait, Aier. That guy just now seemed to be a soldier from Panimir.”

Yake quickly pointed out the soldier’s badge featuring the Panimir flag, alerting Aierjisi and prompting her to chase after the soldier.

“Huh? Whoa, you’re right! Hey! Soldier over there! I have something to ask you!”

Reminded, Aierjisi snapped back to focus, turning to the soldier, realizing she needed his help, and rushed over to him.

“Huh? What did you just say? I didn’t hear… Ah! Don’t come over here!”

Because of the strong wind, the soldier turned to hear what Aierjisi said. But as soon as he saw her sprinting through the snow towards him, he panicked and ran away, trying to escape her pursuit.

“Why is that soldier running so fast? I’m not some man-eating monster. Although… I do nibble on humans occasionally.”

Watching the fleeing soldier, Aierjisi felt puzzled. Why did he look so terrified, as if he’d seen a ghost? Anyway, she should speed up and catch up with him.

“Help me, Senpai! Quick!”

Seeing his senior waiting at the entrance, the soldier cried out, desperate for assistance.

“Sorry, Junior. Can’t help you this time; you’re on your own.”

The veteran shook his head helplessly and activated the mechanism nearby, closing the entrance gate.

“Senpai! You can’t do this! Yikes! I’m doomed!”

Realizing his trusted senior had betrayed him, the soldier fell into despair. How could the person he relied on sell him out like this?

And now, he found himself cornered against the city wall, with nowhere else to run. That golden-haired girl was hot on his heels.

Looks like today would be his last day. How terrifying!
