202 Dekan dug a hole for Krey
Although Dekan was puzzled, he still replied:
“What’s wrong?”
Soon after.
The Illusory Bishop responded almost instantly.
Krey’s Bishop’s Certificate displayed several large characters:
“You really are an idiot…”
After receiving this message, there was no further response from the Illusory Bishop.
“Is this something to be scolded for?”
Dekan, feeling a bit wronged, set down Krey’s Bishop’s Certificate and sat on the edge of the bed, lost in thought.
He seemed to have discovered some intriguing points.
Could it be that Krey had deserted and run off to the Randir Kingdom alone?
And it seemed he had disrupted some plans of the Illusory Bishop?
Isn’t that a bit too free-spirited?
For about ten minutes, Dekan waited, but there was no reply from the Illusory Bishop.
…
Inside a church of the Empire.
A figure dressed in clerical garb stood quietly on the pulpit.
In his hand, he gripped a seal that bore the mark of the Illusory Bishop.
Soon, a figure appeared silently behind the Illusory Bishop.
However, the Illusory Bishop showed no signs of panic.
This was his trusted aide, whom he had urgently ordered to gather intelligence.
“My lord, the Kingdom Union has detected the gathering of four bishops in the Randir Kingdom and has initiated the highest-level response action.”
The aide reported respectfully.
“Four? Are you sure?”
The Illusory Bishop turned back, unable to hide his surprise.
Excluding the corrupt bishop he sent out.
Counting their target—the Bishop of Pain, Dekan.
And the mistakenly involved Frenzied Bishop, Krey, there should only be three bishops, right?
“It was reported by our informant in the Kingdom Union who risked his life to relay the message, and before I reported to you, I also verified it with intelligence personnel from the Randir Kingdom. It’s definitely four.”
The aide replied affirmatively.
This left the Illusory Bishop momentarily stunned.
After several moments of silence, he finally collected himself and said:
“You may leave.”
“Yes.”
The aide’s figure disappeared with the sound in the church.
Only the Illusory Bishop remained, silently standing on the pulpit.
He tightened his grip on the Bishop’s Certificate behind his back.
After thinking for a bit, he began to piece together what might be happening.
He picked up the Bishop’s Certificate and sent another message to Krey:
“Are there any other bishops who went with you?”
“Nope.”
The Frenzied Bishop quickly replied.
Krey’s response made the Illusory Bishop feel even colder inside.
The Illusory Bishop sent:
“From now on, follow my instructions, do not act without permission, and do not trust any other bishops. Be careful of traitors.”
The Frenzied Bishop replied:
“Traitor?”
The Illusory Bishop suppressed his anger and quickly typed on the Bishop’s Certificate:
“I originally only sent Fahim to the Randir Kingdom to frame Dekan, but now I hear that four bishops have shown up in the Randir Kingdom. You tell me, besides you, Fahim, and Dekan, is there not one rogue who might be the traitor we’ve been looking for?”
After sending that message, the Illusory Bishop seemed a bit weary, stepped down from the pulpit, and sat on a bench, covering his face with his hands.
Their original plan was to frame Dekan for the crimes of the Bishop of Pain, then the Rebirth Church and the Northern Kingdoms would act indiscriminately, attacking anyone who got in their way.
After executing Dekan under the banner of justice, even if there were grievances, the Northern Kingdoms could completely shift responsibility, claiming it was the Rebirth Church’s doing.
And if there were no grievances, the Northern Kingdoms could boast of having eliminated a bishop while striking back at the Norton Kingdom.
But.
Someone was secretly trying to help Dekan.
That is, a traitor bishop had also snuck into the Randir Kingdom!
Making the number of bishops in the Randir Kingdom reach three, thus alarming the Kingdom Union, resulting in changes unforeseen by the Rebirth Church and the Northern Kingdoms!
This significantly disrupted the schemes of the Rebirth Church and the Northern Kingdoms.
In the original plan.
To prevent traitors, the Illusory Bishop had been especially cautious and had not shared any information with unrelated bishops.
But he had not anticipated.
Krey, out of nowhere, had embodied the approach of being direct and straightforward.
The Illusory Bishop indeed remembered that Krey had made a bold statement at the bishop conference—
“As long as Dekan dares to leave the Norton Kingdom, even risking being targeted by astrologers, I will make a hole in Dekan’s chest!”
And so, Krey became the last straw that broke the Illusory Bishop’s mental defense.
Because of Krey’s freewheeling actions, the Randir Kingdom had gathered four bishops.
Successfully triggering the highest-level alert from the Kingdom Union.
So they were completely unable to proceed according to the plan.
Not long after.
The Illusory Bishop’s Bishop’s Certificate buzzed again with a message from the Frenzied Bishop:
“Isn’t the most suspicious one Minos?”
“I have suspected her, but I hope it’s not her because she is too important to us. Furthermore, the Pope has reviewed her communication with Dekan, and there were no issues. She might seem frivolous, but she is indeed someone with principles.”
The Illusory Bishop replied.
In fact, the Pope had returned but had deliberately not revoked Dekan’s chat privileges.
Because the Pope was fishing for information.
However, according to the Pope’s observations, during those pointless chats between Dekan and Minos, they occasionally shared card-making techniques but never discussed any information on the Rebirth Church or the Kingdom Union.
It instead showed that Minos, being upright, had nothing to fear.
The Frenzied Bishop sent another message:
“Then could it be that I might also be the traitor?”
The Illusory Bishop was momentarily at a loss for words.
Whether you are a traitor or not, this move of yours is already similar to a traitor’s behavior.
“Your stupidity doesn’t seem like an act.”
The Illusory Bishop replied.
He really wanted to scold Krey.
Even wanted to beat him up to vent his anger.
But Krey did not really seem like a traitor.
This guy lacked the intelligence required to be a spy.
Right now, the most important thing was not the internal conflict, but figuring out how to handle the problem.
Just when the Illusory Bishop was on the verge of calming his inner fury, he saw another message from Krey:
“First lend me 5,000 gold coins, or I won’t follow your orders.”
Upon seeing this message, the Illusory Bishop’s hand finally trembled uncontrollably.
He suppressed his nearly explosive anger and typed:
“Send me your account information.”
After receiving Krey’s bank account, the Illusory Bishop called in his aide and instructed him to transfer 5,000 gold coins to Krey.
After that.
The Illusory Bishop sat on the long bench, pressing his forehead, muttering like a prayer:
“Krey, when this is over, I won’t kill anyone, just you…”
