Chapter 204: The Shattered Dragon’s Downfall.
After devouring most of the flesh from the Sui Long, Ji Jie began inspecting its steel-colored shell. For some monsters, this hardened mineralized shell was the best kind of supplement. He transformed into a Slaying Dragon and started biting off chunks of the fractured shell. Even though it was broken, these pieces hadn’t shattered into tiny fragments but retained significant structural integrity, with added flexibility around jointed areas to not hinder the Sui Long’s movements.
With persistent gnawing, each piece of shell was ground down while the slime molds attached exploded under the stimulation. Surprisingly, Ji Jie discovered that wrestling with the Sui Long’s shell was more challenging than wrestling with the creature itself. These shells gave him an unusual sensation; without any dragon core-like internal formations, the energy that would have formed the core instead surfaced alongside minerals to build the shell. Though it didn’t reach the level of celestial shells, it didn’t mean that energy wasn’t present.
It was foreseeable that his monster form with mineralized shells could significantly enhance hardness by consuming the Sui Long’s shell. Should he try smearing the Sui Long’s slime mold on himself?
Ji Jie swung his sword tail, scraping layers of slime mold from the head and fists of the Sui Long’s corpse, rubbing it vigorously to evenly coat himself. With another swing, his tail left a crack on the ground where the smeared slime rapidly turned red and exploded.
The crack doubled in size after the explosion.
“Cool!”
Bending his sword tail for inspection, Ji Jie noticed the cutting edge had dulled somewhat, but the fiery glow from the explosion quickly heated up his tail. After entering a heated state with another slash, the stimulated slime mold detonated faster, though it consumed the slime as blade medicine rather quickly. Unfortunately, his tail lacked hollow structures for symbiotic slime growth like the Sui Long’s, preventing continuous regeneration.
Recalling how the Sui Long’s slime mold promoted shell and mineral bonding, he smeared slime from the Sui Long’s fist armor and missile headshell all over his own shell.
So, might there be Slaying Dragons who undergo similar mutations after battling a Shattered Dragon?
Ji Jie speculated, enduring the out-of-control slime explosions on his body. This clearly differed from the characteristic integration of mineralized shells, as independent colonies wouldn’t participate in transformations. In a slime-attached state, transforming into weakly defended creatures or small organisms would be very dangerous. He preferred using slime as blade medicine and for training shell hardness.
Because the Flame King Dragon also required minerals, Ji Jie found ready supplies in its nest and immediately began munching on them, prioritizing the less attractive ones as if helping the owner tidy up their nest.
Just as Ji Jie happily consumed the minerals, footsteps caught his attention. Pausing his meal, he stealthily approached the sole entrance, raising his sword tail, ready to strike.
The guillotine was set!
As a red-furred head emerged from the passage, the Slaying Dragon’s sword tail fiercely chopped down! A few red mane hairs floated away as the tail got stuck against the Flame King Dragon’s neck, unable to advance further.
Turning around, the Lord of Karma Fire saw the uninvited guest in his nest. His black pupils contracted rapidly within blue irises before exploding into flames of anger.
Shaking his head violently amid trembling, he rammed the tail aside with his horns, stood up roaring furiously.
“Roar!”
Compared to other roars Ji Jie had heard, this Flame King Dragon’s roar was quite ordinary, even lacking vigor.
But his rage was undoubtedly genuine, with surging flames erupting from his mouth, instantly enveloping Ji Jie.
“Hmm…”
Ji Jie mused, finding the Flame King Dragon’s fire too plain.
He soon realized that this flame was used more to strengthen himself than to kill enemies! Running into his own flames, the Flame King Dragon’s burning scales emitted intense heat winds through the cracks in his shell.
Dragon flames rolled like karma fires, drastically increasing the surrounding temperature. Even Ji Jie’s slime coating entered an active state due to the heat.
The Flame King Dragon continued running, lifting his strong forelimbs, weaker than the Extinction Dragon’s but far stronger than the Abyssal Wave Dragon’s, creating sparks and tear marks on the Slaying Dragon’s shell.
The sword tail retaliated with a slash, striking his face, shaving off some red fur, leaving a series of slime explosions on the side of the Flame King Dragon’s facial shell.
After the explosive glow faded, a long scratch remained on the Flame King Dragon’s cheek, but subsequent slime explosions failed to expand the wound.
Playing with explosions in front of the Flame King Dragon was akin to showing off one’s axe skills in Lu Ban’s workshop.
But for the heated sword tail, explosions were merely an extra!
Ji Jie drew back, retreated, spun, leaped, and delivered a heavy vertical slash directly onto the Flame King Dragon’s face.
The Lord of Karma then emitted a bone-chilling grinding sound, scattering a series of flame-lit explosive dust with his wing beats.
Apparently wanting to counterattack with explosions, they were directly detonated by Ji Jie’s distant vertical slash.
Brilliant firelight erupted between the two dragons, obscuring each other. Ji Jie barely swung to the other side before jumping again, aiming to complete his double-slash combo.
The Flame King Dragon broke through the flames only to suffer a fierce blow to the head. Blood gushed from his face, redness flooding one of his eyes.
Furious, the Lord of Karma Fire abandoned his breath weapon, pouncing like a lion, vaulting over the sword tail’s glow and landing on the Slaying Dragon.
The pounce merely caused the Slaying Dragon to stagger, failing to knock it down, which puzzled the Flame King Dragon. Accompanied by teeth-grinding sounds, explosive dust splashed onto the Slaying Dragon’s body again.
As he pressed down, the radiating heat instantly ignited the powder.
The powder explosion triggered the slime on Ji Jie’s body, causing a spectacular explosion that blasted him to the ground.
His new toy hadn’t been played with for long when it betrayed him; his shell hadn’t reached the level of the Sui Long’s and thus bore numerous cracks.
Unaffected by the explosion, the Flame King Dragon pressed him down, lowering his head, spewing glorious flames that enveloped Ji Jie, washing over his body as if purifying all sins.
“The feeling of being crushed is back!”
A tremendous force struggled to break free from the Flame King Dragon’s arms with his roar, eliciting a confused growl from him.
A massive horn broke through the flames, smashing into his head. After a bout of dizziness, destruction descended from above.

When you see a mighty male fire dragon soaring through the sky, you can't confidently say it’s truly a fire dragon—because it might have been a rare silver fire dragon before you noticed it.
If you suspect it was a silver fire dragon, it could have been a spinosaurus even earlier.
When someone tells you it was once a spinosaurus, you still can’t be sure—because before others saw it, it might have been an elder extinction dragon.
You may feel certain it’s a flying dragon by now, yet you can't assert that either—because underground where you can't see, it might actually be an ancient mountain dragon.
So, what is it really?
In the beginning,
It was just a hairy spider.
