Chapter 205: Mia and Cornelia’s Proficiency in Business
The Northern Kingdoms’ squad was weaving between skyscrapers.
“Are we just going to keep following them?”
“Of course, following the Beautiful Soul Squad is the right move.”
The squad’s leader, Arik, responded with a calm and confident smile.
Though he outwardly looked down on Dekan,
he knew clearly that Dekan and Chloix were certainly preparing to oppose the Rebirth Church.
Thus, by trailing the other members of Dekan’s group and stealthily lingering behind, they were bound to uncover exploitable opportunities.
Prior communication from the Northern Kingdoms had conveyed new instructions.
Currently, the Northern Kingdoms had annulled their cooperation with the Rebirth Church.
Given the current state of affairs, where the matter was too significant, the Northern Kingdoms dared not get entangled any further.
They had only originally planned to collaborate slightly with the Rebirth Church to stir up some trouble.
But events had escalated almost to the point of a Grand Finale!
However, amidst this turmoil, achieving their goal of harming Dekan became easier.
Perhaps the bishops themselves would kill Dekan without them having to lift a finger.
Even if Dekan somehow performed miraculously and survived against one of the bishops,
the Northern Kingdoms’ group could still block Dekan’s way.
Support from a “friend” at a critical moment was the most fatal of all…
Though Arik didn’t want to admit the possibility of Dekan posing a threat to the bishops of the Rebirth Church,
in the event that Dekan managed to fight one of the bishops into a mutual defeat,
besides finishing off the weakened target, Arik might even claim Dekan’s fruits of victory!
Lost in these thoughts, greed painted Arik’s face.
“Arik, look what’s that?”
As they monitored the carriage of the Beautiful Soul Squad, a shadow akin to a black lightning bolt was suddenly detected dashing across the ground.
This shadow moved with such speed and agility that it continually avoided the patrolling knights.
However, from their elevated vantage point, the Northern Kingdoms’ team could observe it.
The black shadow sensed their gaze from above, glanced coldly at them momentarily, then raised its head.
On the ground, Krey felt somewhat irritated.
He wasn’t sure why the whole Randir Kingdom had suddenly gone into a state of high alert,
which made it difficult for him, an undocumented individual, to move overtly around the streets.
Such an action might attract every capable fighter in the Capital City to confront him.
Besides, the roads were full of patrolling knights, and there were several oddballs running around on rooftops.
Krey only hoped they wouldn’t cause trouble for him.
Then he chose to ignore the Northern Kingdoms’ team and continued heading towards his destination.
This made Arik frown.
Not even respecting him?
“There is something off about that guy. I will intercept him, while you continue to follow the Beautiful Soul Squad. We will use communication magic to stay in touch.”
Arik, glaring at the dark figure, spoke with evident displeasure.
He then jumped down and pursued the crossroads at top speed. After chasing for several seconds, he finally managed to halt Krey.
“Hey, do you have any idea who I am?”
Arik unsheathed his sword, pointing it arrogantly at Krey.
“Get lost.”
Krey, not willing to attract too many guards, replied with a low voice, then rushed forward as if Arik weren’t there.
“Then die!”
Arik, with a cold sneer, summoned his full gear, ruthlessly attacking Krey.
Anyway, it was fine to dispose of such suspicious people under the guise of Rebirth Church followers today!
No one could be so arrogant in front of him!
Krey, suppressing his anger, grabbed Arik’s head and slammed it into the ground fiercely. The cobblestones of the entire alley cracked like a spider web centered around Arik’s head.
Though Krey wanted to bury Arik entirely into the ground, he didn’t have that much time now.
Afterwards, Krey swiftly left the scene.
…
Dozens of seconds later.
When the patrolling knights arrived at the scene due to the deafening crash, all they saw were the cracked ground marks, with not a single figure in sight.
In a nearby alley,
Cornelia was dragging a man-shaped figure into a dilapidated house.
The figure had a burlap sack over its head.
It was undoubtedly the unconscious Arik from earlier.
“Got him, alright.”
Cornelia dropped Arik at Mia’s feet.
Mia, observing Cornelia’s proficient handling, understood that Cornelia must have done this countless times before.
Mia tapped the needle in her hand, her lips curling slightly:
“Let’s start by turning him into a vegetable.”
Next, Mia injected the drug into Arik’s neck.
Arik, his head covered with a burlap sack, twitched violently as if he were a live fish thrown onto the ground. After a while, his limbs stopped struggling, and his head tilted to the side.
Meanwhile, on a carriage close by,
Mia and Cornelia’s figures looked somewhat frozen. The only moving figure was Teacher Cat, who was stepping on a map, directing their course.
They were merely substitute puppets.
That morning, neither of their real selves attended the meeting; instead, they hid in a nearby area.
Dekan and Mia had roughly guessed the action plan of the Northern Kingdoms —
to strike the Beautiful Soul Squad from behind.
However, the Beautiful Soul Squad couldn’t take action against the squad of the Northern Kingdoms at the start, as this might result in punishment from the Kingdom Union, even the loss of their evaluation qualifications.
Their squad was used to being the oriole instead of the mantis and preferred to be the last one to strike.
Therefore, Mia and Cornelia’s mission was to delay the Northern Kingdoms’ squad to ensure these people wouldn’t interfere with Dekan’s actions.
The carriage route was planned in advance.
In Dekan’s plan, Krey’s movement trajectory could be roughly predicted.
As long as they guide him a little, there was a high probability of Krey encountering the Northern Kingdoms’ squad.
Of course, whether they would truly meet and whether they would fight depended on luck.
If Krey were to encounter them, they might squeeze a little more out of him.
But even if Krey wasn’t encountered, Mia had assured Dekan she had a way to trap the entire squad of the Northern Kingdoms.
She found containing them too troublesome and wanted to eliminate all enemies in one go.
After all, they were also taking care of a child.
Tarta initially followed Mia and Cornelia that day.
Hiding in the small house, Tarta watched the actions of the two sisters and couldn’t help but tremble in fear.
Mia glanced at the time and then lightly traced her finger across the map, estimating the locations where the remaining four would be diverted by the carriage next.
“Cornelia, you’ll just have to stay and guard this guy on the ground. Don’t go anywhere, alright.”
“Alright, sure thing. Mia, be safe!”
“Sure thing, don’t worry.”
After saying these words, Mia put on a hood and left the dilapidated shack alone.
