…It’s really huge.
If someone were to ask what is so big, I would naturally tell them it’s Daesik.
Daesik was excessively large.
Judging from the circumstances, it seemed like he made a wish to that pot-like something, but did Daesik actually wish to grow this big?
His desire to grow larger was something I could deeply relate to and understand as I felt the same way, but even so… This feels… excessive.
The size was such that, with a human body, looking up at Daesik would surely strain one’s neck.
And it seemed I wasn’t the only one thinking this way. Even Jungsik who came to see Daesik, let alone Sosik, looked surprised as they gazed upward at him.
In the midst of this, Jungsik seemed to try inflating his body by inhaling air, looking both adorable and somewhat pitiful. It felt as if I experienced a strange sense of familiarity.
Meanwhile, the Jelly army had already swarmed, using Daesik’s body as a playground, bouncing all over.
While observing this scene, Daesik’s massive hand cast a shadow over me. I looked up to find his giant hand gently patting my head.
As this happened and my knowledge capsule transformed into a question mark, Daesik pressed his stomach with his other hand and announced:
[“I’m the biggest!”]
[“Yes, he’s huge!”]
…Ah, so that’s what you wanted to say?
Hearing his cheerful and lively voice, my initial irritated feeling subsided and instead, my insides churned with amusement. Right, it’s true after all, so what could I possibly say?
Still, strictly speaking, I was technically still larger.
After coming to terms with the shock of Daesik’s growth spurt, I began to wonder if it was actually Daesik that grew, or if it was merely Alice.
Upon checking, it turned out that Daesik hadn’t grown. His true form remained the same round jelly shape I’d seen before, and it seemed only Alice had scaled up.
But this also presented a perplexing issue—whereas Daesik’s growth previously felt like he was spreading and moving directly, now it felt more like he was operating a robot. Actually, that’s only metaphorical since I had no clear understanding of the principle behind his control of that massive body.
And this wasn’t just my amateur speculation—it was the conclusion of the brilliant Han Seori. Of course, the fact that Daesik’s core remained unchanged was something I figured out, so my contribution shouldn’t be overlooked entirely.
[“I’m huge!”]
Alright, stop already. Sure, you’re big! Enough!
When had I ever boasted about being big to him? There’s no such memory in my jelly, so why is Daesik doing this to me?
Still, his behavior seemed innocent enough—not violent or anything—and it appeared to be pure enjoyment. It felt somewhat funny to even complain.
Likewise, it seemed Daesik didn’t intend to tap my head but rather wanted to tap my body lightly. However, due to his sheer size, he ended up tapping only my head.
…Probably?
Feeling a peculiar sensation, I shuffled away.
For now, my role was complete, having entered and exited the Singularity, so I decided to enjoy some leisure. The rest would be handled by the humans.
Personally, I hoped that Yoo-jin, who came out with me, would do well, though I’m not entirely sure how things will go for her. While Han Seori’s reaction seemed positive, the frozen expression on Hwang Bo-yul’s face suggested otherwise.
In any case, while Yoo-jin recuperated, time seemed plentiful.
To make the best use of this time, I chose the obvious: lounging on the bed and watching TV.
For a brief moment, I considered wishing to return to the Singularity to request the ability to speak, but I dismissed the thought recalling that the other two items didn’t leave. Wishes usually involve only one, after all.
It seemed likely that Daesik’s growth was related to the two items not emerging. Since they had wished for nonsensical things like destruction, it was only reasonable they suffered the consequences.
In any case.
Since Alice’s body is inexplicable by contemporary science, to achieve a wish, it might require some type of sacrifice, similar to Daesik’s growth.
Upon further reflection, since I’m a “superior” entity compared to Daesik, achieving a wish involving me would likely require an even greater cost.
Then perhaps… it’s best to give up.
The mere disappearance of those two items leaves me with a mix of satisfaction yet unease, and I don’t want to greedily aim for the ability to speak. Of course, it might be possible without a cost, but if I were to wish and it unexpectedly came true at the expense of others’ lives… uh, that thought alone is terrifying.
Thus, perhaps it’s better to think in a more productive direction.
Lost in thought, I paused mid-step on my way to the TV.
As far as my limited knowledge goes, I know that just opening a hole doesn’t automatically produce a voice. If that were the case, I’d have done it long ago.
What came to mind in this context was the vocal cords. They produce sound through the movement of air… or something like that…
Ugh… my head hurts.
Anyway, it seems like vocal cords are necessary to produce a voice. Beyond that, the complexity is honestly beyond my grasp.
Thinking about it, the human body is incredibly intricate. It’s essentially an organic machine with countless components. Given that even humans don’t fully comprehend themselves, it’s not embarrassing that I don’t know how to produce sounds.
This brings up a question:
How do I create vocal cords within my body?
By making them directly inside my jelly, like how I made teeth?
Hmm, I doubt that’s a good idea. While the teeth I made did temporarily restore my chewing sensation, maintaining them was a bother. Besides, when questioned on whether they functioned as real teeth, the answer would be somewhat ambiguous.
Another thought was to consume a Singularity and let my body undergo the same type of changes.
While this might be more reliable than creating something myself, the question remains whether such a Singularity exists.
And even if it did… would it willingly let me consume it?
This then leads to the next question:
Am I limited to only gaining abilities or changes through a Singularity?
I ate plenty of fish that entered my body but felt no significant changes, though if I consumed enough to trigger a change…
If the changes were meaningful enough, I might be able to generate the ability myself.
So, then… to produce human-like vocal cords, I’d have to…
…Hmm, never mind.
I shook my head, realizing there was no point obsessing over this.
Sigh. Why bother clinging onto the need for a voice? If I want to speak, I could just ask Electric Scent to relay my words.
…But where is she, anyway?
Deciding to let go of my fixation on producing a voice, I glanced around the room. Though termed a room, it was far too large to be called such. It resembled more like a hangar, magically created by Electric Scent’s drones to accommodate Daesik’s massive size. Since it was impractical to leave him alone, other jellies and I relocated here.
Thus, the current scenery was somewhat bizarre.
In the vast space sat Daesik while a smaller section was set aside for the rest of us.
Calling it “set aside” might be an exaggeration since the only addition was a few more beds alongside the items we originally used.
Without Daesik in the room, the arrangement would seem incredibly inefficient. But with him, it worked fine.
Still, from a visual perspective, it might have some appeal. The miniature furniture beside Daesik looked like toys.
At any rate, the more I thought about producing a voice, the more overwhelmed I became, so I simply opted to watch TV.
As I shuffled toward the bed, Somewhat and Minimally, who were playing around, followed me, wobbling along.
Settling down on the bed with a few bouncy jellies, the sound of something neither light enough to be described as feather-like nor heavy reverberated.
A shadow loomed over me, and then Daesik’s cheerful voice echoed.
[“Give me that!”]
So… you want the remote, huh?
As my fingers brushed over the remote, I glanced at the oversized hand Daesik extended. He nodded, and seeing that made me chuckle internally.
What exactly does he plan to do with the remote using his giant hand?
I expressed my curiosity by alternating my fingers to point at the remote and then at Daesik’s hand. In response, Daesik dropped his hand like a deflated jelly, seemingly shocked.
…Did he not foresee this after planning to grow bigger?
For some reason, this made me feel oddly satisfied.
With a smile bubbling in my jelly, I stared at Daesik and pressed the remote.
I aimlessly switched channels, flaunting my ability to handle the remote.
Daesik, unable to think about pressing his own body for the remote, collapsed to the floor.
Haha.
Clearly, wishes shouldn’t be made recklessly, right?
Even if he were smaller, I wouldn’t have given him the remote, but that’s beside the point.
