Chapter 21: You Count as Half a Person

Chapter 21: You Count as Half a Person

“Well then, big brother, since you’re the one left behind to block my way, you should be prepared to be toyed to death by me, right?”

Freya looked at Carl with a cheerful smile, completely disregarding him. Or rather, Carl’s strength was just sufficient for her attention, but far from being impressive.

“Of course, I’ve long prepared myself for death to fight you. No more unnecessary chatter, I’m coming!”

With a surge of power in his legs, Carl jumped directly in front of Freya and threw a punch at her.

He landed a solid hit. Freya flew two meters back from the punch. If she weren’t an Ultimate Life Form, that punch wouldn’t have just sent her flying—it would’ve smashed her to bits!

“Tsk, looks like my power has dropped quite a bit, huh?”

Carl wasn’t satisfied with the outcome. If he were at his peak, that punch should’ve been enough to take down that crazy woman. Unfortunately, after being imprisoned for 300 years, his strength had significantly diminished, and all he managed to do was send her flying.

“I’m so happy! You’re the first one to knock me away. Very nice, very nice, seems like I have to take you seriously now.”

Meanwhile, Freya rolled a few times on the ground and got back up, staring intently at Carl. She had never encountered such a powerful opponent before; if she could toy with him until he was dead, it would be worth the effort.

However, Carl felt a chill. Her last words meant that she hadn’t been taking his daughter seriously all along. What would happen if this woman got serious?

“By the way, can you tell me your name? You’ve piqued my interest. If possible, I want to know your name before I kill you. Don’t think I won’t kill you just because you don’t give me your name. I just want to know, that’s all; it won’t affect whether I kill you or not.”

“My name is Carl, Carl Platini. I am the king of the Blood Clan.”

“Carl… that name sounds familiar. Whatever, it doesn’t matter. Knowing your name is enough; now let’s get this party started!”

Freya targeted Carl and unleashed her threads. Since she knew her puppet strings wouldn’t work on him, she decided to use her razor-thin threads instead to see what kind of damage they could inflict.

Carl had no idea what kind of skill Freya would use, so he sprayed cold air from his body to cover himself in ice.

“Ugh…”

Carl let out a pained groan as his body was ensnared by her threads. Against those threads, his ice was like paper—fragile and easily destroyed.

“What’s this, big brother? You’re not all that impressive! I thought I was taking you seriously, but it seems like you’re just this level, huh?”

Freya had great confidence in her threads. Once someone fell into their grasp, no matter the creature, they wouldn’t stand a chance, not even a dragon soaring through the sky.

Now, it was just Carl in front of her; destroying those threads from the outside was impossible. The scales of victory were tipping in her favor.

“Just this level, huh? You might be underestimating me.”

Ignoring the threads binding him, Carl took steady steps toward Freya.

“Oh? You’re all wrapped up in my threads, yet you still want to come closer?”

“If I don’t get close, how am I supposed to properly flatten you?”

“Oh ho! Then come even closer!”

Freya stepped closer to Carl as well. She wanted to see just what this so-called Blood Clan King was really capable of!

Carl was also plotting in his mind when the right moment would be to explode for maximum damage.

“How about now? We’re face to face. When do you plan on attacking me?”

Freya stood right in front of Carl, provoking him. She didn’t believe that he had the strength to escape the threads and hit her with a punch.

“Of course, it’s right now. Let me show you my ultimate move. Blood Clan Great Explosion!”

Feeling that the distance was just about right, Carl ignited his heart. He exploded his own body, launching a massive attack right at Freya.

Caught off guard, she shrieked as she suffered heavy injuries and was blasted away to who knows where.

As for Carl, after reconstructing his body, he returned to the cave where Aierjisi and the others were, battered and bruised.

“That’s how it is. I fought that crazy woman to a standstill. However, this might only be temporary; next time I encounter her, it won’t be this easy. Aierjisi, you mentioned a little mishap earlier; what was that about?”

Now severely injured, Carl needed time to recover and couldn’t fight. If that crazy woman decided to attack again while he was down, it’d be up to his daughter to deal with her. He needed to hurry and help his daughter with her enhancements.

“Actually, it wasn’t a big deal. When I entered the Sacred Domain, there was nothing inside. I reached the end and found… nothing. Did I just not trigger something?”

“There shouldn’t be nothing inside. Only we know how to enter the Sacred Domain; it shouldn’t be like this. Let me think.”

Carl furrowed his brows, sensing something was off. His daughter went in alone but didn’t trigger the Sacred Domain’s Trial. What could be the reason? Did she have a condition different from his?

Wait, a different condition?

“I think I understand why you found nothing when you went in alone.”

“Really? Father King, what exactly am I missing?”

“You’re missing something very important—him.”

Carl pointed at Yake, who was nearby taking care of him, leaving them both stunned.

“Father King, what does this have to do with Yake? He’s not a member of our Blood Clan.”

“Right. I’m just an ordinary human, after all.”

“No, don’t you two remember? The Contract you signed.”

“Of course we remember, but what does that have to do with the Contract?”

“Because of that Contract, the two of you share a life. That’s why the Sacred Domain didn’t recognize Aierjisi as a visitor. For the Sacred Domain to acknowledge you, you both have to enter together. Now, you two are one entity; you can only get recognized as one person if you both enter together.”

Carl explained to them why the Sacred Domain didn’t register Aierjisi as a visitor. To the Sacred Domain, Aierjisi, who shared a life with Yake, wasn’t a full person—she could only be considered half a person.
