Chapter 24: Dekan Starts Talking Nonsense
Cornelia hurried to the dining cart, picked up the dinner plate that was originally hers, and began to eat beside Dekan.
Dekan leaned back in his chair, gazing at the ceiling while reminiscing about the intelligence he had gathered earlier.
With a lot of information now in his advantage, he needed to carefully strategize their next exploration route.
Once they are sufficiently rested, there will be nine and a half hours left.
Mission Goal 2 (Rescue Hostages) has already been accomplished, but Mission Goal 1 (Explore the Map) is only at 8.6% completion.
They are still far from the required 50% target.
There are two reasons for the slow progress.
First, Dekan and Cornelia have spent too much time in this room.
Finishing the Cooking Classroom only provided about a 1% increase to the total progress.
Second, they haven’t reached the BOSS Room yet.
The BOSS Room is very likely to grant significant progress rewards.
Fortunately, the exploration speed of the other four Challengers is not bad.
Their formation likely consists of one Level-5, two Level-4 and a useless member.
In the matchmaking system, being in a team with a Level-5 and a Level-3 doesn’t necessarily make it suitable for Level-4 difficulty.
A Level-5 Challenger has the ability to force some challenges within Level-4 Shadow Worlds.
The advantage from Level-5 Challengers may require several lower-level Challengers to balance out.
Thus both Dekan and Cornelia are here to balance the advantages of the Level-5 Challenger.
Or they were supposed to be fodder.
“Thank goodness we’ve met such a great teacher as Bachelor.”
Dekan couldn’t help but sigh.
Cornelia, eating her dinner from the plate, glanced at Dekan.
She resisted making any comments.
She felt that ever since Dekan arrived in this Shadow World, it was like all moral restraints had completely disappeared.
But it was alright.
This gave her, as his teammate, a sense of relief.
Following Dekan’s leads without much thought allowed her to conquer the Shadow World effortlessly.
Nothing could be more ideal.
……
“Cheers!”
Dekan gently tapped Cornelia’s glass.
The two of them started drinking.
After dealing with Baron Bachel, they found this classroom rather pleasant.
What’s a killing feast?
This was supposed to be a candlelit dinner!
If only the other teammates could be just as effective, they wouldn’t even need to leave.
“Alas, let’s continue our victory banquet when we get back.”
Dekan sighed, already feeling reluctant to move.
“Next time we must definitely indulge in a great meal.”
Cornelia leaned back in her chair, feeling this Shadow World was quite harmonious and wonderful.
Dekan:” If we keep setting these flags, even we might not safely return.”
Cornelia: “What does flag mean?”
Dekan: “Some death lines, after saying them, it’s basically survival impossible. Besides, dialogues must not be spoken recklessly, especially when many people are watching us.”
Cornelia:” Understood.”
Dekan glanced at the time and reluctantly stood up.
It was about time to head out.
He approached Baron Bachel, untied the steel wires binding him, and rummaged through his pocket to find the Demon Pass.
“Cornelia, can you take Baron Bachel with you?”
“Alright.”
Cornelia quickly came over, grabbed Baron Bachel’s feet, and dragged him out of the classroom.
It was now the end of class, as the two walked down the corridor.
Occasionally, students passing by stared at them with surprise.
The Demon Students had never seen a student dragging an unconscious teacher down the corridor!
Moreover, the teacher’s head had a very obvious large wound.
It seemed like it was hit with a blunt object, the head even appeared deformed.
Was it these two who did this?
The students dared to think but didn’t dare to ask.
They feared offending these two, who both looked very menacing.
……
According to the intel gathered during the interrogation, it didn’t take long for Dekan to find the destination—the Sickroom.
As one of the few public facilities well-known to Bachelor, the school’s sickroom is rather abnormal.
The Demon Doctor in the sickroom conducts experiments on patients.
If a patient enters, there is a chance of being healed, and there’s also a chance the Doctor might use them for experiments.
But if an uninjured student hides inside, the Demon Doctor will forcibly capture them for experiments.
Although they’ll endure immense pain, there’s a possibility of gaining enhancement.
It is considered a highly chance-based, functional room.
Dekan and Cornelia rushed into the room, one after the other, pretending to be hurried.
This room didn’t at all look like a sickroom, but more like a “Mad Scientist’s” laboratory.
The environment was filled with darkness and decay, with jars on shelves containing black liquid soaking unknown organs of some creatures.
Against the wall were large glass tanks in which various creatures lay, some emaciated, while others were covered in red tumors all over.
In the center of the sickroom, by the operating table, stood a figure with a back turned to Dekan.
Upon noticing the visitors, he turned around.
This Doctor was a horrifyingly thin old man, his grotesque face inlaid with various metal plates.
Instead of a scalpel, he held a saw in his hand.
He emitted an oppressive and rotten aura, his eyes filled with hidden malevolence.
It seemed that he had already spotted his prey and was ready to lunge toward Dekan and Cornelia.
Just as he was about to activate the room’s killing mechanism,
“Our Bachelor teacher suffered from food poisoning! Please, help him!”
Dekan shouted first.
“Bachelor Baron?”
The Demon Doctor was first shocked, and then quickly shifted his attention entirely to the Demon that Cornelia was dragging.
He seemed to have found something quite interesting, set down his saw, and quickly walked to Cornelia’s side, inspecting the unconscious figure on the ground.
“Place him on the operating table.”
The Demon Doctor quickly stopped paying attention to Dekan and Cornelia themselves and simply ordered.
Cornelia complied and moved the Baron Bachelor to the operating table, laying him down.
Then she retreated back to Dekan’s side.
The Demon Doctor began to search and examine the unconscious Bachelor Baron. After quite a while, it seemed he finally confirmed the individual was indeed the Baron.
“How did his head get such a big injury?”
The doctor asked, confused.
“The teacher went mad after food poisoning, constantly harming himself, until finally bumping his head on the table corner and fell unconscious.”
“He told us in his still-sane moments that if we just deliver him to the sickroom, he would survive. He agrees to any modifications you might do on him!”
Dekan lied through his teeth, very earnestly.
The Demon Doctor’s mouth twitched at the corner.
Damn, obviously these two did it!
While the Demon Doctor had no idea exactly how Dekan and Cornelia pulled this off, he no longer wanted to hear Dekan’s absurdities.
Because he was dying to modify the Baron Bachelor.
The opportunity to modify a teacher was rare.
Even if what Dekan said was all lies.
As long as there was a reasonable explanation, the Demon Doctor would act as if he didn’t know and proceed with the modification. If the Principal questioned, the liability wouldn’t fall on him.
“Tch, both of you go out first, I’ll forgive you for now.”
The Demon Doctor quickly ushered them out and restrained the Bachelor Baron on the operating table…
Dekan gave Cornelia a big thumb up.
Everything went according to plan.
The exploration progress effortlessly increased by about 1%.
