Chapter 25

Chapter 25: Swift!

The wing blades gleamed like the moon, slashing in rapid succession as they hunted with the speed of the wind—

The red streak at the corner of his eye still shimmered brilliantly.

Caught off guard by the sudden dragon swap, the Female Fire Dragon panicked and attempted to take flight, but the combo attacks on her abdomen left her wavering mid-air, unable to gain proper altitude.

“ROOOAAR!”

Swift Dragon growled lowly. Beneath his wing blades, claws curved like hooks, he clung onto the Female Fire Dragon’s body.

True to its name, the Swift Dragon’s greatest advantage was its swiftness—terrifying dynamic vision and reflexes. If it weren’t for Jié Jié’s keen judgment earlier, it wouldn’t have been so easy to meet its demise.

Now, Jié Jié wielded this superior dynamic vision and reaction time, combining wing blades with hook-like claws into an impeccable offensive weapon.

Jié Jié flipped on the Female Fire Dragon’s back, twisting her down from the air.

Then leaping away, mimicking the Flying Thunder Dragon’s move, he climbed up a nearby Giant Tree.

The tree shook as Swift Dragon spun around with his tail.

Unlike the feather-covered tails of the Flying Thunder Dragon, Swift Dragon had a short fur coat beneath which lay a stick-straight tail.

This stick struck hard against the Female Fire Dragon’s wings, tearing apart one side of her wing membrane.

Raising his tail high, he brought it down sharply, slicing through again.

The Female Fire Dragon’s wing snapped.

Swift Dragon’s tail softened and swung aside due to the recoil, causing Jié Jié immense pain.

As the red brilliance faded, he faced the Female Fire Dragon once more. The black figure rose proudly, opening its blood-filled mouth and slamming it down heavily.

“CRUNCH, CRUNCH.”

The sound of the Female Fire Dragon’s wing bones being bitten through echoed loudly, accompanied by her cries of agony.

From these wails, Jié Jié tasted his newfound power.

Morphing between forms became smoother than ever, making hunts twice as efficient.

If only there were a chance to drag that battle-hardened Fire Dragon down to the ground—

The Female Fire Dragon didn’t roll around like the Swift Dragon, or rather, her wing configuration made it impossible.

No need for Black Wolf Bird form to deliver the finishing blow; Savage Jaw Dragon stared at the long spines under the Female Fire Dragon’s jaw.

Lifting his clawed foot, he stomped down!

The Female Fire Dragon’s head was crushed into the ground, breaking the long spine along with the pride of the Land Queen—even though she was barely more than a defeated dog right now.

She struggled.

Another stomp ended her tragic life, ruined by some no-good male.

“Huff.”

Jié Jié exhaled deeply, collapsing into a weasel shape right where he stood.

Battle! It’s satisfying!

The Smoky Snow Weasel shook itself and transformed back into the Black Wolf Bird. The Female Fire Dragon’s shell was tough, so his policy remained pecking.

Repeated sharp pecks broke through the shell, piercing inside while holding down the corpse with his clawed feet.

After prying open a piece of the shell, the tender pink meat filled with blood came into view.

Piece by piece, the Female Fire Dragon’s back armor was pried off, and Jié Jié morphed into Savage Jaw Dragon, burying his face into the carcass and feasting heartily.

The crimson blood and fresh meat slightly quenched the Savage Jaw Dragon’s intense thirst.

Swallowing all the meat in his mouth, a hard object different from the soft flesh was spat out and examined with his foreclaws.

It was a jade gemstone glowing with emerald luster, untouched by blood or meat residue.

Shiny… yes, even shiny in dreams.

Jié Jié raised his forepaw to put the gem in his mouth but found, much to his dismay, that the Savage Jaw Dragon’s forelimbs couldn’t reach.

So he tossed the dragon gem casually, catching it with his gaping maw, sliding it smoothly into his belly.

Rubbing his chest absently with his small forelimbs, Jié Jié wondered curiously what the inside of his stomach looked like.

What kind of enhancement could the Female Fire Dragon’s gem provide?

Jié Jié controlled his muscles to spread his back membrane, which wasn’t really wings in any sense and gave him no extra sensation.

Instead, his tail felt wet.

Bending his tail to the front for observation, Jié Jié saw the feathers at the tip standing erect like spikes, enhancing the wet sensation.

With a slight turn, the underside of his tail revealed black spikes covered in a glistening liquid.

Poison?

Seems like poison, indeed.

Jié Jié nodded in satisfaction—it wasn’t bad.

He then stuck his bloodied face into the Female Fire Dragon’s body, digging around and skillfully biting the Flame Bag into his mouth. Breathing out hot air, he felt even thirstier.

Adhering to the principle of not wasting anything, Jié Jié ate all the meat off the Female Fire Dragon’s back, leaving her legs for later since they were harder to strip.

Ignoring the puddles on the ground, the Savage Jaw Dragon’s nasal passages opened outward, forming a nasal crest. After shaking off the yellow sticky stuff, he sniffed the water vapor in the air carefully.

His strong body pushed through the trees, causing some damage, but Jié Jié didn’t brutally snap them. With their resilient vitality, they would bounce back and continue growing.

A brave little creature got bumped onto his back from a tree but didn’t flee in fear. Instead, it hopped curiously around the Savage Jaw Dragon, pecking at seeds caught in his fur.

But Jié Jié didn’t notice the small organism on his back until after drinking deeply from a pond.

While drinking, he also caught a fishy scent. Lifting his head, the chirping sounds finally reached his ears.

Was there something on his back?

Jié Jié turned his head, but the clever little thing seemed adept at hiding from his sight.

The Savage Jaw Dragon’s body shrank, transforming into the Smoky Snow Weasel. Wide-eyed, Jié Jié stared at the furry ball that had fallen in front of him.

A fluffy ball with two pearl-black eyes and a beak.

Such a cute fluffy ball!

Images flashed through Jié Jié’s mind, and he finally identified it as—

Soft Feathered Chicken!

Suddenly, the fluffy ball stood up, revealing legs longer than its body by more than double, flapping its tiny wings and sprinting away in a flash.

Eh? Don’t run!

The fleeing Soft Feathered Chicken triggered the Smoky Snow Weasel’s chase instinct, and off he went, chasing with his long-haired limbs.

After a few steps, sniffing left and right, he couldn’t catch any trace of the Soft Feathered Chicken.

“Chirp chirp.”

The Smoky Snow Weasel stood upright and spotted the fluffy creature tilting its head from atop a tree.

Jié Jié leaped up the tree, watching the escape-ready fluffy thing, taking cautious little steps closer.

“Gurrr-chirp!”

Seeing the Smoky Snow Weasel approach, the Soft Feathered Chicken extended its long black legs.

Jié Jié stopped, shaking his fur, releasing special pheromones.

“Chirp?”

The Soft Feathered Chicken fluttered its head twice, taking delicate steps toward the Smoky Snow Weasel.

And thus, the two fluffy creatures pressed up against each other…
