Chapter 261: Silver Moon Witch’s Prophecy (4k)
Long before dusk, the first-year students received a notification for the astronomy class.
This caused quite a stir in the library.
Humans always have a deep fascination with the stars during their childhood.
Cuddled in their parents’ arms, gazing up at the starry night sky, counting those brilliant stars with innocent voices, they feel a faint sense of happiness.
But as they grow older, the stars seem more and more distant.
In the astrologer community, there is a saying:
Children can see stars.
Once grown up, they lose their potential.
If they don’t learn astrology in childhood, they won’t be able to master it as adults.
…
The first-year students were actually very interested in astronomy, especially after Professor Didi’s astronomy class, which further sparked their interest. Then… there was a three-month gap!
So when the astronomy class suddenly resumed, they showed great interest.
A few days ago, rumors spread that a new astronomy professor would join, and the young magi had been eagerly anticipating this for a long time.
…
The next day, Wednesday.
Night fell…
At around seven o’clock, the twelfth floor of the Spiral Bell Tower was already full of people.
With half an hour until the seven-thirty lecture, most students chose to come early, learning from their first lesson’s mistakes.
Like Wit and Robert, who had been deducted points for being late, came earlier than anyone else.
But unlike Professor Didi, the new professor did not sit in the classroom early.
Without seeing the new professor, the students began to chatter.
Some speculated about who the new professor might be.
Others wondered what they would teach tonight.
Would the new professor be easy-going or strict?
Would the content be interesting compared to Professor Didi’s?
Last time, Professor Didi showed the students the close-up view of a full moon, leaving them stunned.
Who knows what surprises the new professor would bring?
…
Dark arrived at the classroom around seven-fifteen.
As soon as he entered, he saw Diana waving at him and went over to sit behind her.
“Dark, have you seen the new professor?” Diana asked excitedly.
Dark shook his head, “No. But the professors hired by the academy should be good. At least in terms of ability.”
Diana replied, “That’s true. I hope the new professor’s lectures will be fun and simple, not too difficult.”
Dark smiled and took out a notebook and pen from his bag, placing a small stand on the desk and taking out a magic card.
The little Eevee on the card was looking around curiously with wide eyes.
Dark placed it on the stand facing the blackboard.
Diana asked in confusion, “What are you doing?”
Dark pointed at the card, “It has some interest in astronomy.”
“(⊙o⊙) Oh!” Diana nodded, not fully understanding.
After turning back, she suddenly tore a piece of paper from her notebook, folded it into a stand, and carefully picked two cards from her deck, placing them like Dark did.
Seeing her imitate him step-by-step, Rose couldn’t help but cover her mouth and laugh.
Dark opened his mouth but could not speak for a moment.
Those two magic cards were likely “Earth Bear” and “Bear Spirit,” right?
…
“Not alone, not alone.”
Above the podium, a cuckoo bird suddenly emerged from the clock.
The students were momentarily stunned, then realized it was already seven-thirty, but the new professor hadn’t arrived yet?
“Are we late for the first class?”
Dark gathered mana in his fingertips, scratching the chin of the Eevee in the card, making its face slightly red.
The noise in the classroom decreased when the class started, but then became even louder.
The students were surprised and confused by the new professor’s tardiness.
It wasn’t uncommon for professors to be late; some were often a minute or two late. But for the first class, they expected more punctuality.
Robert complained, “I wish we hadn’t come so early.”
Wit suggested, “Maybe there’s an emergency?”
Robert responded, “Unlikely.”
…
Time passed slowly, and the students’ patience wore thin.
After five minutes, the ceiling suddenly became transparent, similar to how it was when Professor Didi taught.
But the distance to the night sky didn’t change.
Next, a pumpkin carriage appeared in the classroom, seemingly straight out of a fairy tale!
Called a carriage, it was pulled not by horses, but by two dark, blurry shadows.
A golden path emerged from under the pumpkin carriage, leading directly to the classroom.
The ceiling split open.
The pumpkin carriage flew down along the path, entering the classroom amidst the students’ gasps and landing near the podium.
As the carriage stopped, the witch in deep purple attire lifted the curtain and stepped out.
Her heart raced.
Metia Barcello lifted her long leg tightly wrapped in purple stockings and stepped onto the ground.
“Click.”
The sharp heels touched the ground, making a sound.
Metia removed her pointed witch hat and shook her head, causing her black, purple-tinted hair to cascade down like a waterfall, spreading a rich fragrance.
Her mature charm made the boys in front blush.
She waved the hat outward, and the pumpkin carriage suddenly turned into thick black smoke, disappearing inside the hat.
Metia took out a wand as thin as a chopstick from the witch hat and tapped the hat, causing it to explode with a bang and vanish.
“(?@ο@?) Wow!”
…
“Is she performing magic?”
Dark covered his forehead.
The new professor gave him an uneasy feeling, almost like she was putting on airs.
But the young magi seemed to enjoy this dramatic entrance, even ignoring her tardiness.
Diana was still clapping enthusiastically, her cheeks flushed, wanting to pinch herself.
After a while, Metia seemed to have enjoyed enough flattery and finally raised her hand to quiet the room.
When the classroom settled down, she introduced herself formally: “I believe you’ve guessed, I am your astronomy substitute professor this semester, the guide of fate, the seer of the Starry Eye, the witch of the Silver Moon—Metia Barcello!”
Guide of Fate!
Seer of the Starry Eye!
Witch of the Silver Moon!
These titles gave off a commanding presence.
Though the young magi didn’t fully understand, they applauded enthusiastically, creating a fan-meeting atmosphere.
Metia’s lips curled slightly, showing a hint of pride.
Indeed, it’s lonely up there on the tower. It’s much better to be out and about.
…
Metia was here to teach, not perform.
After introducing herself, she walked to the podium and smiled, “Now it’s my turn to get to know you all. Those whose names I call, please stand up. If possible, introduce yourselves briefly so I can better understand you. Let’s start with Emma Maltis!”
Emma was taken aback.
She remembered her name wasn’t first on the list.
But since Professor Metia Barcello called her, she stood up.
“Is this Miss Maltis?”
Metia nodded and asked, “I heard you are the granddisciple of the Sage of Secrets?”
Emma hesitated and shook her head, “No. My mother was a student of the Sage of Secrets, but there are many students, and she was just one of them. I have no relation to her.”
Metia narrowed her eyes and scrutinized her, then suddenly said, “Your throne stands on the golden earth.”
Emma blinked, unsure of what that meant.
Metia moved on to the next name.
Each time she called a name, she added a phrase.
When students asked if these were prophecies, she denied it.
…
“Sara Swati.”
“Present.”
Sara put down her pen and stood up, intrigued by the new professor’s vague “prophecy.”
She introduced herself, “Hello, Professor. I aim to become a scholar of hardship.”
Metia replied, “A commendable goal. Look forward to drinking with ancient gods above the River Styx.”
Sara’s eyes rolled, “Professor, I’m still young.”
Metia paused and then smiled, “I’m not cursing you.”
“That’s good.”
Sara sat down, relieved.
…
“Teddy Dolong.”
“Present.”
Dolong stood up abruptly, eager to hear the “prophecy” the professor mentioned.
Metia Barcello smiled at him.
After three seconds, Dolong snapped back to reality and quickly said, “Wall of the Kingdom, Dolong family, Noble Academy, gentleman!”
“Good, my little gentleman,” Metia said with a smile, “Time heals all wounds.”
“Huh?”
Dolong’s excitement vanished, “Professor, what does this mean?”
Metia comforted him, “Don’t take it too seriously. Everyone experiences pain in life. I said this isn’t a prophecy.”
Dolong: Then why say it? Ahh!
Dolong sat down, feeling heavy-hearted.
…
“Rose Florette.”
“Here, Professor.”
Rose rose gracefully amid Diana’s envious gaze.
She thought for a moment and whispered, “Hello, Professor. I have an orange cat plant.”
Metia’s expression changed slightly, studying her closely, her pupils dilating, reflecting the silver moon.
She opened her mouth, her voice distant and hollow, “Above the stars, your destiny lies.”
Rose half-opened her mouth, “Professor, I’m just ordinary…”
Metia waved her hand, smiling, “No one is ordinary. Remember my words, great ones are born great.”
Rose sat down, bewildered, but wrote down Metia’s two phrases.
Despite Metia’s repeated assurances that her words weren’t prophecies, the more she denied it, the more it felt like a prophecy, making people believe it was one.
Perhaps it was a rhetorical trick.
Or perhaps she was just stating facts.
Who knows?
…
Throughout history, prophets, whether genuine or charlatans, often used exaggerated and ambiguous language to embellish their “prophecies.”
Naturally, there were reasons for this, but it significantly reduced the credibility of prophecies and allowed frauds to blend in.
Metia’s “prophecies” were clearly high-sounding, using terms like “throne,” “ancient gods,” “time,” “stars.”
But upon deeper analysis, they might reveal completely different meanings.
However, under the current circumstances, the young magi didn’t think much about it.
They found nothing unusual about the “high-sounding” prophecies for Emma and Sara, but they were surprised that the unremarkable Rose also received such high praise!
“Above the stars,” “great ones,” were these really meant for her?
Many students couldn’t help but look at her, their eyes filled with various emotions.
But Rose herself was confused and even felt helpless.
She instinctively grabbed Diana’s hand, calming down slightly.
“Diana Gretbail.”
Metia called out Diana’s name at this moment.
Diana was curious about her “prophecy,” but seeing Rose’s troubled expression, she felt a bit annoyed.
She pouted and spoke, “I am Diana, I love bears, want to be a hero, and my idol is the Valkyrie.”
Metia nodded slightly and said, “Your name will be carved on the monument of heroes.”
What is a hero’s monument?
It refers to a hero whose legendary achievements live on after d*ath, becoming a symbol of faith.
In other words, she will eventually become a hero!
…
Metia’s straightforward “prophecy” redirected the students’ attention, focusing more on Diana.
Especially Wit, whose gaze was the most intense.
Because Diana’s goal was similar to his.
To become a hero, a true hero.
It was his wish after learning he was the child of a hero.
How much he hoped Metia would make the same “prophecy” for him.
…
“Quite interesting.”
Dark put down his pen, looking at the page filled with names and “prophecies.”
Starting with Emma, he wrote down every “prophecy” Metia said.
Even though he knew these “prophecies” were unreliable.
After all, no prophet could give so many predictions at once.
Divination and fate-reading require a price!
But it didn’t stop him from finding amusement in it.
