Chapter 27: Wave of Defeat…
“BOOM!”
“ROAR!”
The battle beneath the Ancient Tree was exceptionally noticeable.
At the end of the trail of destruction left by the Terror Tyrant, a strong greenish beast Avial had a thick tree clamped in its jaws, mercilessly crushing the “Sovereign of the Sky.”
Just as Jié Jié arrived, he witnessed the Terror Tyrant slamming down its head, smashing the Male Fire Dragon into the ground. The already broken wing twisted to an angle that would cause phantom pain in any winged creature.
Even if it survived today, it would never soar through the skies again.
The tree in the Terror Tyrant’s mouth exploded from gnawing, splinters grinding against the Fire Dragon’s shell as it thrashed about.
“AHH~AHH~~”
The Male Fire Dragon let out intermittent cries of terror—it was being lifted by the Terror Tyrant!
Jié Jié ignored the struggling Male Fire Dragon and locked his gaze onto the Terror Tyrant.
After a powerful flutter of wings, his body went flat with his neck stretched straight, diving down for the Black Wolf Bird’s ultimate attack.
“BOOM!”
The Male Fire Dragon crashed heavily onto the ground. The Terror Tyrant almost fell over from the tremendous impact but was barely stopped by several bent trees.
The Black Wolf Bird was embedded deep within its side, the entire beak completely buried inside. Though it appeared slender, the spine was the strongest part of the bird dragon, only causing slight discomfort.
Jié Jié wasn’t sure what part he pierced, but he used his claws to grip the Terror Tyrant’s body and pulled his head outward with all his might.
Why not try transforming and widening the Terror Tyrant’s body? The monstrous muscles on the back of the beast were pressing down on Jié Jié’s hard beak, making him very uncomfortable.
It wasn’t bones stopping him—it was the muscle mass of the beast.
With every little movement of pulling his head out, Jié Jié could feel the muscles squeezing and filling the previous position of his beak.
He even doubted whether his full-strength piercing attack was merely a minor wound for this monster?
Moreover, there was a pungent stench—of the rapid metabolism of the Terror Tyrant, urging him to quickly pull his head out.
The Terror Tyrant’s body shook violently, and he could sense its attempt to reach his tail with its massive mouth.
But with a swing of his tail, the enhanced poison spines grazed the Terror Tyrant’s mouth. After that strike, he curled his tail close to the Terror Tyrant’s body to avoid being bitten off.
And the wings—after the Terror Tyrant took a bite at his wing membrane, he finally found a suitable position where it couldn’t be bitten again.
Finally, Jié Jié managed to pull his head out from the shaking body of the Terror Tyrant and saw the wound he caused.
It was quite terrifying, but for such a giant, it didn’t count as serious damage.
Still, he could add some seasoning to the wound.
Using both his wing-claws and legs, Jié Jié exerted force, crouching on the body of the Terror Tyrant.
Scorching flames erupted from Jié Jié’s mouth, smearing the wounds on the Terror Tyrant’s body.
This creature was all muscle, and muscles naturally stopped bleeding. Besides, Jié Jié wasn’t aiming to stop the bleeding anyway.
The Terror Tyrant’s body lacked a hard shell; most areas only had a thin layer of scales covering its robust muscles.
How could flesh and blood effectively resist flames!
The Terror Tyrant’s skin began melting, emitting waves of foul odor, which were quickly swept away by the fire.
The returning wave of fire washed over Jié Jié’s face, dispersing the molecules of odor emanating from the Terror Tyrant.
“ROAR!”
The Terror Tyrant’s body was wildly thrashing, but bird dragons also possessed some avian characteristics—”the Chicken Head Stability Principle!”
Although the Black Wolf Bird’s body swayed, his head remained steady due to the relative activity of his spine, maintaining a stable flame-spewing angle.
Also, Jié Jié recalled the feedback hunters should give when riding monsters in games—
Endurance!
He pressed himself against the Terror Tyrant’s back while roasting his head.
The sensation of six limbs—front, back, up, down, left, and right—was just great!
“GAK!”
Jié Jié continued spewing fire without coming down, pecking at the melted muscles of the Terror Tyrant with his heated beak.
Flames seemed ineffective; not only did they fail to turn the Terror Tyrant into a fiery oil drum, but creating deeper injuries proved difficult as well.
“SPIT.”
After eating a bite of the Terror Tyrant’s meat, Jié Jié spat it out immediately.
Such a foul smell could probably only be swallowed by flies, mosquitoes, or Thief Dragon maggots!
Jié Jié opened his beak, ready for another burst of heat.
But at this moment, the Terror Tyrant seemed enraged, responding differently than before.
Was it falling?
No, it was rolling!
The terrifying force first pressed against Jié Jié’s wingtips!
On the verge of breaking!
By now, he had no time to get off the Terror Tyrant. Its massive weight descended like a darkened sky.
Since that was the case—
The Black Wolf Bird’s wings contracted into a back membrane, but the membrane was still pinned under the Terror Tyrant’s back, preventing further progress.
Transforming into a brute general, Jié Jié lay flat, wedging himself against the Terror Tyrant, fighting for his future life!
Head can break, blood can flow, but wings must not break!
Though this posture was abstract, it effectively held the Terror Tyrant’s rolling motion.
The intense push-back sensation from an equally sized opponent paused the Terror Tyrant’s roll, then it strained its whole body in the opposite direction, rolling back and standing up confusedly.
Jié Jié smoothly disengaged from the Terror Tyrant’s body, standing up. The compressed and swollen membrane that was caught bled slightly, quivering before “pia~” reabsorbing into the muscle group on his back.
The muscular brain of the Terror Tyrant couldn’t comprehend why such a creature was on its back, but its ravenous hunger understood perfectly.
Opening its blood-filled mouth, it didn’t charge forward but seemed to be gathering something?
The Savage Jaw Dragon sniffed, its nasal cavity curling into a crest, similarly opening its blood-filled mouth.
A pillar of fire erupted.
And the Terror Tyrant with its gaping maw didn’t rush forward as usual but instead unleashed a misty shockwave column with red sparks from its mouth.
Is this really Dragon Attribute Energy? The Terror Tyrant’s dragon essence?
Jié Jié’s eyes widened, staring intently at the collision point between the fire column and the dragon energy column.
He remembered the effect of Dragon Attribute… weapons struck by hunters lose their attached elemental power.
What happens when his Breath Weapon collides with it?
There was no dazzling explosion bright enough to destroy heaven and earth; instead, the dragon energy column instantly penetrated the fire column, splashing red sparks washing away the flames.
As the flames extinguished, the upward-swinging dragon energy column resembled a solid entity, causing Jié Jié’s line of sight to spin as he fell backward.

When you see a mighty male fire dragon soaring through the sky, you can't confidently say it’s truly a fire dragon—because it might have been a rare silver fire dragon before you noticed it.
If you suspect it was a silver fire dragon, it could have been a spinosaurus even earlier.
When someone tells you it was once a spinosaurus, you still can’t be sure—because before others saw it, it might have been an elder extinction dragon.
You may feel certain it’s a flying dragon by now, yet you can't assert that either—because underground where you can't see, it might actually be an ancient mountain dragon.
So, what is it really?
In the beginning,
It was just a hairy spider.
