Chapter 28. Lin the Repeater
“It’s a bit late, Lin Nuo.”
“Sorry, I overslept.”
Lin Nuo replied casually, but Han Fairy guessed that he was intentionally avoiding coming over. She had thought of sending Su Kexin or Liu Shuqin to find him, but unexpectedly, Qin Shili took the initiative to go over.
It was common knowledge that Lin Nuo had feelings for Qin Shili, but usually, the cold Qin Shili wouldn’t even glance at him. This time, it was likely that Lin Nuo’s rather strange achievements in Wind Sea Forest piqued her curiosity, prompting her to personally invite him over.
After all, during this outing, only Lin Nuo and Qin Shili had slain a Heavenly Beast, so it made sense for Qin Shili, as a peer stronghold, to be interested.
Indeed, heroes find it hard to resist a beauty’s request; with Qin Shili stepping in, Lin Nuo had no choice but to comply.
“Lin Nuo, your achievements in Wind Sea Forest have made your master quite pleased. Since your martial sisters are here, could you share the details of the situation at that time?”
“I’m afraid I can’t disclose that.”
Lin Nuo flatly refused. This was already common gossip; no one would believe it was the result of a mix-up among the Demon Sect disciples. On the contrary, the more he spoke, the more he risked blowing things out of proportion.
“Is there a reason you can’t say?”
“You could say that.”
“Fine.”
Han Fairy didn’t press any further. Since Lin Nuo wasn’t willing to speak, she couldn’t pry the information from him.
“Lin Nuo, let me check your aura.”
In front of Lin Nuo was a table with a small dish on it, which had handprints—the aura dish. Pressing your hand on the imprint while circulating energy would give a general understanding of the aura holder’s condition.
Of course, to know one’s cultivation accurately, a Heavenly Profound Stone was needed, but that was a spiritual stone kept in Hunyung Hall by the sect leader, only released for use after six months.
Lin Nuo didn’t refuse and placed his hand on the imprint while circulating his energy. Han Fairy observed the changes in the dish’s color, and after a moment, she reached a conclusion.
Lin Nuo’s aura was weak, consistent with his second-level cultivation.
This was strange; if he had second-level cultivation, how had he killed so many Demon Sect disciples?
“Any conclusions?”
“Yes, the aura is quite weak; you need to practice more. You can withdraw your hand now.”
Lin Nuo pulled his hand back. I’m Lin Nuo, no need to hide; I’m a weakling, you understand that, right? Let’s have a proper chat, don’t treat me like a great hero.
Regarding the aura dish results, everyone found it odd. The possibility of the dish making a mistake was minuscule; it couldn’t have misjudged Lin Nuo’s aura, yet the result indeed matched his apparent aura condition.
Now, Lin Nuo’s strength became even more mysterious.
“Is there anything else?”
“Yes.” Han Fairy nodded slightly, “In this outing, our sect is handing out rewards for achievements. You have significant contributions, so you are allowed certain privileges. You can choose any spirit beast from the sect, form a contract, and access any of the spiritual springs and artifacts. Furthermore, an elder can guide you personally, a privilege usually reserved for your Second Martial Sister.”
Han Fairy listed out a plethora of privileges Lin Nuo, being a low-level cultivator, could enjoy, but he himself wasn’t interested; he had no desire for a spirit beast, nor did he care for an elder’s guidance, and as for that spiritual spring, why would a world-destroying villain like him take a dip in that?
“Okay.”
Lin Nuo responded a bit dismissively.
“Is there anything more?”
“Next, you might be dispatched for another outing, so prepare yourself mentally.”
“Okay, anything else?”
“Your martial sisters hope you will practice with them.”
“Okay, anything else?” Lin Nuo sounded like a cold-hearted repeater.
“That’s all.”
“Okay, can I go train now?”
“Go ahead, wish you success.”
Han Fairy waved her hand lightly, and Lin Nuo formally bowed before leaving.
A few girls remained in the hall, and Han Fairy shifted her gaze to Qin Shili:
“Shili, what are your thoughts?”
“Not meaningful.”
Qin Shili replied flatly.
“Conventional means can’t detect his strength, I will take my leave.”
Seeing that Lin Nuo had left, Qin Shili lost interest in staying and also walked away.
Han Fairy sighed softly; Lin Nuo was a talented disciple being overlooked, but she felt he held some reservations and was unwilling to communicate with her as a master. Even ordinary conversations seemed to have an unspoken barrier.
“Don’t worry about it, Master. Senior Brother must have his reasons; he may appear cold, but he has a warm heart.”
“Kexin, I’ve noticed that ever since the Wind Sea Forest trial, you’ve been defending Lin Nuo.”
“Ah, not at all, Master… I’m just speaking the truth…”
Su Kexin shyly lowered her head, her small hands unconsciously fiddling with her clothes.
Among Han Fairy’s disciples, Su Kexin was the youngest and most inexperienced. Whenever Lin Nuo was mentioned, Su Kexin would become excited, and inadvertently sing his praises, which could be explained by only one reason.
She was experiencing her first crush.
Little girls are easily enamored by those who stand up for the weak, especially with Lin Nuo having a bit of charm and having saved her; it was normal for Su Kexin to have such feelings.
“Kexin, why don’t you try checking your aura too?”
“Yes, Master.”
Su Kexin followed Han Fairy’s command, placing her hand on the aura dish and circulating her energy.
Moments later, Han Fairy observed the dish’s condition, her delicate brows furrowing slightly.
“What’s wrong, Master?” Su Kexin sensed something was off.
“Kexin, what has happened to you? Your righteous spirit aura has suddenly become too overwhelming; it could damage your roots.”
