Chapter 282: The Giant Halberd Dragon.
The monstrous head before him resembled that of a Sand Earth Dragon, with a sharply inclined cranial shell pointing forward. Its biological structure was bizarrely unique.
It possessed wing claws akin to the Hōng Lóng but also had an additional pair of smaller forelimbs at its chest-abdomen region.
With four limbs and two wings, it could fold its wings down as a sixth limb to support its massive body.
Its entire form was entangled with an oily substance, pitch black and viscous, occasionally revealing black spines that jutted out like some alien creature.
As the monster roared in his direction, Jié Jié stood momentarily stunned.
Of course, he recognized this beast—
The Giant Halberd Dragon.
But why was it here?
Was it some kind of dragon mech weapon? Was it East Doruma’s final trump card?
Impossible! The rumors about the Giant Halberd Dragon being a dragon mech were long debunked.
Did it join the battle out of curiosity? Did it deliver a crucial blow to the Tempered Black Dragon?
But why did the Strike Dragon Gun end up on its back, and how could the fully fortified East Doruma have let the Giant Halberd Dragon steal it while preparing for the Tempered Black Dragon?
And its size—Giant Halberd Dragons should be nearly fifty meters long as Ultra-Large Monsters, yet this one seemed somewhat diminutive.
While pondering, a scorching beam of heavy dragon oil shot forth from the Giant Halberd Dragon’s mouth towards him.
Boosting wind pressure, Jié Jié swiftly dodged.
He couldn’t defeat the Tempered Black Dragon, but surely he could handle the Giant Halberd Dragon, right?
Just chomp on it and sift through its memories—it’d all make sense then!
The Flame King Dragon began inflating its body, contrasting starkly with the pale and pristine figure of the Míng Dēng Lóng next to the menacing Giant Halberd Dragon.
Take that!
A brilliant azure beam erupted from his mouth, its high temperature igniting the oil coating the Giant Halberd Dragon’s body.
Staggering backward, the colossal creature collided with already damaged buildings, raising clouds of dust into the crimson sky.
Jié Jié ceased his breath weapon attack, waiting for the smoke to clear so he could observe the Giant Halberd Dragon’s condition, ensuring not to waste energy if the damage wasn’t significant.
Meanwhile, he gathered strength in his limbs, readying himself for close combat.
The Tempered Black Dragon still lay nearby, even its corpse radiating an oppressive aura that made him extra cautious.
The Tempered Black Dragon had an undying heart; perhaps its energy had already surged forth and incinerated the world—but who could truly understand such forbidden matters?
He himself had been tossed here by some forbidden force, and they hadn’t shown their face yet.
If the Tempered Black Dragon resurrected, he’d need to flee—he couldn’t afford to exhaust himself.
But where could he run to anyway?
His current state wasn’t ideal for high-intensity battles. His life activities relied heavily on the energy produced from Earth Pulse Crystals, allowing him to maintain composure in this ruined world.
Yet, once entering a fierce fight, his internal energy reserves would quickly deplete.
Emerging from the ruins and molten lava, the Giant Halberd Dragon’s heavy oil burned away, revealing patches of its original scale colors.
Amidst the charred brown and cyan hues under the blood-red sky, the scales shimmered faintly, but noticeable gaps appeared between them. These weaknesses, once concealed by the black oil, now became glaringly obvious after the combustion, some even shattered due to explosions.
The newly risen Giant Halberd Dragon advanced on six limbs, then rose upright using its wing claws to prop up its chest-abdomen area.
Its wing claws moved in sync with its forelimbs, grabbing a boulder nearby and hurling it toward the airborne Míng Dēng Lóng.
Like catching a ball, Jié Jié swatted the boulder into rubble with a single claw.
Another projectile came flying—this time, a Strike Dragon Gun pulled from the Tempered Black Dragon’s corpse.
Not far from the Giant Halberd Dragon lay the fallen Tempered Black Dragon, pierced by over a dozen Strike Dragon Guns, resembling a graveyard of swords.
Ducking the Strike Dragon Gun, Jié Jié felt puzzled. Shouldn’t he be the one using the Strike Dragon Gun to stab other monsters? This felt reversed somehow.
Unable to fly?
Nimbly evading another Strike Dragon Gun, he saw an opportunity to seize this one.
This particular gun wasn’t much thicker than those used post-Peak Mountain Ball, worn down by the Tempered Black Dragon’s destruction, leaving only a sturdy rod, which remained quite wieldable.
With both front claws, he spun the rod, initiating a dive toward the Giant Halberd Dragon.
Seeing him diving with the Strike Dragon Gun, the Giant Halberd Dragon seemingly grew enraged, its left wing claw and left forelimb glowing red hot as they raised.
The rod clashed with the fiery claw, causing the already severely damaged Strike Dragon Gun to snap instantly. The two Ultra-Large Monsters collided.
The Giant Halberd Dragon was pushed backward, lifting its massive wing claw to restrain the Míng Dēng Lóng’s shoulders while its forelimbs wildly clawed at its chest.
The Míng Dēng Lóng’s heavy tail struck down to balance its body, allowing Jié Jié to stand upright. Ignoring the clamp of the Giant Halberd Dragon’s wing claw on his shoulder, he counter-gripped the opposing wing claw.
Brutal hand-to-hand combat ensued, yet it wasn’t purely brute force.
The Giant Halberd Dragon’s wing claw glowed red-hot, while the Míng Dēng Lóng’s claws emitted ghostly flames.
Blue energy coursed through Jié Jié’s forelimbs, while red energy flowed from his chest to his throat.
“Grunt!”
Firelight and searing heat intertwined relentlessly as a crimson ray poured onto the Giant Halberd Dragon’s head at close range.
The scorched scales began heating up. At a disadvantage due to unexpected tactics, the Giant Halberd Dragon retreated, rolling away.
Though appearing disheveled, this roll successfully broke free from Jié Jié’s assault, creating distance. With a swift push-off using all six limbs, it quickly stood up again and fired another beam back at Jié Jié.
As if drawn together by their lines of sight, their beams and breath weapons collided.
Still stepping forward, Jié Jié redirected the energy flow from his limbs to his mouth. A blend of crimson and azure light emerged—a modified version of the Míng Dēng Lóng’s original breath weapon.
Not yet time for a killing blow, so conserve energy.
He’d never fought such a resource-poor battle before.
But why not try drawing from Earth Pulse Energy?
In this destroyed world, liberated by the powerful life energy within the Tempered Black Dragon, could he indulge freely?
Not yet. He didn’t know the status of the other forbidden forces in this world—if they showed up, things could get messy.
Having considered his escape route, Jié Jié no longer rationed his energy as strictly as before.
If he couldn’t win, he’d retreat, sleep for a while, then return later. He didn’t believe the opponent could regenerate faster than him. Prolonged warfare might just inconvenience him a bit.
The genuine Míng Dēng Lóng breath weapon—an intense azure beam—covered and overwhelmed the two similar crimson rays, striking the already retreating Giant Halberd Dragon, washing over its head.
Dragon Seal!
The silenced Giant Halberd Dragon fell to the ground, oozing thick black oil from the wounds in its scale gaps, re-covering its body.
Kicking its hind legs against the ground, it slid backward, stood up, and fled into the distance.

When you see a mighty male fire dragon soaring through the sky, you can't confidently say it’s truly a fire dragon—because it might have been a rare silver fire dragon before you noticed it.
If you suspect it was a silver fire dragon, it could have been a spinosaurus even earlier.
When someone tells you it was once a spinosaurus, you still can’t be sure—because before others saw it, it might have been an elder extinction dragon.
You may feel certain it’s a flying dragon by now, yet you can't assert that either—because underground where you can't see, it might actually be an ancient mountain dragon.
So, what is it really?
In the beginning,
It was just a hairy spider.
