283 Dekan’s Holy Country Dream (Part 1)
Dekan, lost in nostalgic thoughts, was led away from the Happy Group by Cornelia.
They wandered around the Capital City until the sky turned deep purple.
Cornelia, cradling Little Gray, strolled along the roads of the Capital City.
“Cornelia meow… Are you done playing…?”
Little Gray said lifelessly.
If this continued, he felt he would inevitably become the Cat Bishop.
“Hmm, I’ve had my fun.”
Cornelia said contentedly,
“Is there anywhere else you want to go?”
“Not meow, um… Have you ever been to the ancient Temple of the Sun God in the Capital City?”
“I haven’t been, because Dekan never took me.”
“Ugh, my oversight meow.”
“How about it, do you want to visit the Temple now?”
“I’ve always been a bit skeptical of the legends of the Goddess, but lately, it feels a little mysterious. Perhaps we should pray to the Goddess meow…”
“Hmm.”
Cornelia agreed and immediately carried Little Gray toward the ancient Temple.
Inside the temple, which was both ancient and like an artwork, there were almost no people due to the late hour.
The priest on duty, however, appeared… rather intoxicated?
There was even a bottle of alcohol blatantly placed by his side.
“Uncle, is this really okay meow…”
Dekan had originally planned to buy some amulets for the group, feeling that everyone’s luck was extremely poor today.
But the priest seemed unconscious.
“Um…? Cats speaking? I must be drunk.”
After saying this, the drunken priest fell back to sleep.
“Meow! Uncle! Sell us a couple of amulets before you sleep meow!”
“Amulets? For some reason, they all sold out today…”
After belching, the priest mumbled,
“However, I can create them for you on the spot. Let’s see… first we need a gemstone imbued with blessings. It seems I’ve run out. Where are there any left…”
The priest looked around and suddenly seemed to remember something. He wobbled toward the statue of the Goddess, breaking a piece of the gemstone off her scepter, split it in half, and took some tools from the lectern, skillfully creating two amulets in just a few minutes.
“Here, payment please.”
The priest unsteadily walked back to Cornelia, handed her the amulets, and reached out his hand for money.
“Uncle, you dare to charge for this meow…”
Dekan quickly refused with his paw.
He dared not let Cornelia accept the amulets, fearful of divine punishment.
“There’s no issue… the Sun God teaching is originally laid-back and utilizes things effectively.”
“Don’t kid me meow. I know your former Knight Commander.”
“There’s no need to worry… if anything goes wrong, even if it’s divine punishment, I’ll take the blame…”
“Really?”
Cornelia asked.
She seemed attracted to the limited-edition paired amulets.
“I swear to the Goddess…”
The drunken priest said.
Cornelia looked at Dekan, who hesitated for a moment before nodding.
We should consult Judith later about whether this will incur divine punishment.
If there is an issue, we’ll just throw these amulets back into the donation box.
Subsequently, Cornelia happily bought the pair of amulets, putting one in her pocket and hanging the other around Little Gray’s neck.
“Well, Cornelia, finally today is over meow…”
After this long day, Dekan felt a bit tired himself.
“Weren’t we supposed to stay out for one day?”
Cornelia asked, with no intention of putting Little Gray down.
“Meow?”
“You must keep your promise.”
“Meow…”
…
In this way, Cornelia carried Little Gray back to the dormitory.
Her grip did not loosen even for a moment.
And Little Gray was already entirely resigned, thoroughly giving up the fight.
“Did you promise me that you wouldn’t change back for the entire day?”
Cornelia held Little Gray up and looked at it, asking.
“Meow…”
“Then it’s okay for me to sleep with you, right?”
“Meow meow!”
“You must not escape this time.”
Afterward, Cornelia carried it to the bedroom, as if very tired, and fell onto the bed while hugging Little Gray.
“De…kan…”
Cornelia softly murmured.
This was the first time Cornelia called his name after Dekan had transformed into a cat, instead of calling him “Little Gray.”
Even though her hands were gradually loosening,
Little Gray crawled out of her embrace.
But Little Gray looked at Cornelia who quickly fell into a deep sleep, and the content smile on her face.
Little Gray helplessly shook its head.
When it was about to leave, it remembered the promise it had made to her.
So it obediently lay down beside her,
Like an elegant noble cat, accompanying her as she went into slumber.
And the person and the cat, who had fallen asleep, did not notice.
The amulet began to glow faintly.
…
It was as though in a hazy dream.
Here was a classical-style mansion.
“Delroyce, are you alright?”
The deep voice of a middle-aged man made the gray-haired young man in the office come to.
The gray-haired young man looked around.
There in front of the middle-aged man was a fresh cigarette in his mouth, seemingly waiting for someone to light it for him.
“Sorry, Lord, didn’t expect me to get distracted as well.”
The young man with gray hair immediately respectfully bowed to the middle-aged man, a calm smile on his face.
He skillfully lit the cigarette for the Lord, stepped back, and waited for the Lord to speak.
The gray-haired young man was dressed as a butler, his hair neatly combed back, wearing white gloves, looking particularly elegant.
But he knew.
All of this was nothing more than pretense and acting.
He was merely imitating a human.
A perfect servant should perform exactly like this.
“Very… I thank you greatly for what you’ve done for me. No matter what, I shouldn’t express gratitude, but what you’ve accomplished… has indeed saved many of the people in my territory.”
The Lord exhaled a puff of smoke, gazing vaguely in thought,
“Delroyce, I know you are one of the most dangerous people, but I don’t think you’re evil. Or rather, evil is not a requirement for you. Therefore, compared to those who are genuinely evil, I would much rather deal with you.”
“I’m honored that you say that, my Lord.”
The gray-haired youth bowed elegantly again and replied.
Yet, his pupils, from the very beginning until now, had shown absolutely no emotion.
The Lord scrutinized the gray-haired youth for a long time, and finally sighed helplessly, saying,
“Claudia is waiting for you, go visit her.”
“Yes, my Lord.”
The gray-haired youth bowed and quickly left as instructed.
When his composed smile passed by the cabinet in the Lord’s room,
The glass reflected for a flash the image of a male demon with gray hair and golden pupils.
