Chapter 266 Newspaper
Looking at the news on the newspaper in her hands, Dorothy thought to herself as she gazed at the photograph of a princess wearing an elegant dress, with short hair, innocent and sweet-looking, like a beautiful vase. She pondered in her heart.
‘But one cannot deny that this princess is indeed very exquisite and beautiful. The fact that she appears quite young suggests she might be of royal bl**d. It’s unclear if these political views are her own thoughts or if someone is manipulating her behind the scenes…’
With such thoughts, Dorothy turned another page of the newspaper and looked at the next news item. Her attention was then drawn to a large advertisement framed by borders.
“Feitian Theatre! Special performance tomorrow night! Featuring renowned dancer Adele Briouze, multiple dazzling stars joining, unprecedented grandeur…”
This was an advertisement for a theatre performance. The large photo showed a woman dressed in revealing attire, with wavy long hair and a good figure, looking charming and alluring.
Looking at this woman’s photo, Dorothy paused for a moment. This woman indeed had rare beauty. Even Dorothy, who had been a woman for quite some time, felt captivated for a moment. While the previous princess could be described as beautiful, this one could provoke the desire of most men.
‘Goodness… This figure, it seems only Neph can compare. And her appearance is even better than Neph’s. She’s also a famous dancer. I bet she has quite a lot of popularity…’
Dorothy thought, and seeing such a large advertisement in the newspaper indicated that this female dancer named Adele was likely quite popular in Tivyán and was a highlight of the performance.
‘After my promotion, I can relax a bit. If I have the interest, I can also go around the city.’
Dorothy continued reading the newspaper while having breakfast. After finishing the local news of Tivyán, she finally saw some more international news.
“The preparations for the World Expo are proceeding smoothly. The main building of the expo has been completed, and currently, over 30 countries will participate. However, due to recent disputes in the New World, some members of parliament from Farano have proposed to refuse participation. In response, our special commentator Mr. Eiseng has stated…”
‘The World Expo? It seems to be a major event organized by the government of Prit… Many countries are participating… It seems to be held in Tivyán, but judging from this, it looks like Farano might threaten not to participate due to colonial conflicts.’
Seeing the news, Dorothy thought in her heart. Looking at this news, she also sensed that the colonies in the New World seemed to be somewhat unstable. Sure enough, after flipping through two more pages of the newspaper, she found news about the New World.
“A brushfire incident? Farano soldiers invaded our Cold Creek territory and were driven out. Governor Mitchell stated that in the New World, the threat from Farano has exceeded that of the natives…”
‘It seems things are getting increasingly unstable in the New World. I hope it doesn’t affect Kapak and the others.’
Having read this news, Dorothy’s breakfast was almost finished. She wiped her mouth and placed the newspaper aside, then began to think about what she should do today.
‘I’ve been reading books at the library for too long. Today, I should do something else.
‘Speaking of which, I haven’t been in touch with Neph recently. I wonder how the book I asked her to read is going. Her Poison Recognition Prayers seem less frequent lately. Could something be wrong?
‘Yes… I should check on Neph’s situation this afternoon…’
Dorothy thought, and after confirming her schedule for the day, she got up to settle the bill at the bar.
…
East Tivyán, morning.
The newly risen sun was gradually climbing higher into the sky, and the bright sunlight illuminated the bustling commercial street. Pedestrians were bustling about, and shops along the street displayed various exquisite goods in their windows.
Nephnis, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, dressed in avant-garde pants and a short-sleeved top, carried a bag as she walked down the street. She examined the clothes, shoes, and cosmetics in the shop windows, seemingly picking out items she liked. Her steps were light, and she appeared to be in a good mood.
‘Phew~ Good weather, good mood~ Passing the retake exam feels even better~’
Nephnis thought to herself. Recently, she had been involved in events related to the Eight Pinnacle Nest and missed an exam from last semester. According to regulations, she should have had to retake it, but unexpectedly, the administration gave her a chance for a retake. She had been studying diligently in preparation for it.
Now, the retake was finally over, and Neph could finally indulge herself in her favorite way to celebrate—shopping.
Like many girls, Nephnis naturally enjoyed dressing up, and her comfortable family background allowed her this luxury. For the past few months, due to the Eight Pinnacle Nest and the retake, she had been anxious and hadn’t had much interest in shopping. Today, she finally found an opportunity.
Walking down the street, Nephnis reviewed the numerous items in the shop windows. Amidst the crowd, another pair of eyes was watching her.
Carrying her bag, as Nephnis continued walking, she heard a slightly familiar voice behind her.
“Hey, Big Sister!”
Hearing this voice, Nephnis paused momentarily, then immediately turned around. She saw a familiar young man smiling at her.
Yellow short hair, in his twenties, wearing a shirt and suspenders. That was the extraordinary ruffian, Moisans, who had recently tried to follow her but ended up being controlled by Dorothy and beaten up in an alley, losing a pile of things.
“It’s you?” Looking at the man in front of her, Nephnis instantly became alert, wondering if he was here for revenge. To her surprise, Moisans greeted her with a happy demeanor.
“Oh, you still remember me. That’s great. I was worried you might have forgotten me, Big Sister?” Moisans said with a friendly tone. Nephnis felt a strange feeling inside, and after a slight pause, she asked more cautiously.
“You… You’re called Moisans, right? What brings you here?”
“Oh, nothing. I just saw you on the street and wanted to say hello. Also, I wanted to ask you…” As he spoke, Moisans glanced around and leaned closer to Nephnis, lowering his voice mysteriously.
“I also wanted to ask if you are interested in ‘Crimson Dancer’ Adele Briouze?”
As he spoke, Moisans glanced at a huge advertisement hanging on the wall of the street, showing a dancer in a red dress, captivating and attracting countless people to stop and watch.
