Chapter 267 Ticket
At noon, the sun shone directly on the streets of Green Shade Town. Inside a restaurant cabin, Dorothy, wearing a beige dress and a small hat of the same color, sat at her seat. In front of her was a glass of juice, while across from her sat Neve, who had just returned from shopping in the city center and hadn’t yet had time to change clothes.
“Hmm, looking at you, you must have been shopping in the city, right? It seems your life has been quite pleasant lately, Neve-senpai,” Dorothy remarked as she observed Neve’s outfit while sipping her juice. Neve responded with a smile.
“Well… it’s not all that pleasant. I only go there occasionally. Miss Dorothyia,” Neve replied, her expression showing some nervousness. Before someone she considered a high-ranking member of a secret society and a high-level Extraordinary Being, she couldn’t relax, even though the person looked like a girl around thirteen or fourteen years old.
“Is that so… How did you find the Secret Transmissions I gave you? These are crucial for your advancement to a true Extraordinary Being.”
Dorothy addressed Neve, having come here specifically to check on the reading progress of the transmissions. She wanted to officially promote Neve to an Extraordinary Being. Upon hearing Dorothy’s question, Neve paused slightly before responding with difficulty.
“Um… You mean those books I received last time… Well… I’m very sorry, but I haven’t really started reading them formally. I’ve only read about half of the first one…” Neve said softly, tapping her fingertips together. After hearing this, Dorothy frowned slightly and spoke with a slightly stern tone.
“What? You’ve only read half of it after all this time?”
“It’s like that, but please listen to my explanation, Miss Dorothyia. The reason I haven’t read much is because I’ve been reviewing for make-up exams…”
Neve then explained that she missed an exam due to her involvement in an incident with the Eight Pinnacle Nest, and had been focusing on studying for the make-up exam, leaving no time to read the transmissions. After listening, Dorothy nodded understandingly and looked at her.
“Alright, I understand your situation. If you need to review, there’s nothing I can do. But remember to continue reading the books later.”
Dorothy said with understanding. After all, she had been a college student in her past life and could empathize with the anxiety of facing possible academic failure. Hearing Dorothy’s words, Neve let out a sigh of relief.
“Whew… Thank you for understanding. I will definitely complete the tasks you assigned me with care.” Neve said gratefully, her words reminiscent of those she might say to a professor at school.
Mature, astute, powerful, and knowledgeable about the extraordinary… This was the direct impression Dorothy left on Neve. Despite being older than Dorothy and being called senpai by her, Neve still regarded Dorothy somewhat as a teacher or mentor.
‘Compared to the opportunity for advancement, she seems more concerned about whether her studies will fail in the short term. Hmph, looks like this Neve-senpai isn’t obsessed with becoming extraordinary and powerful. She seems to approach the mysterious and extraordinary merely out of interest. That might not be bad.’
Dorothy thought to herself as she evaluated Neve. Meanwhile, across from her, Neve seemed to be thinking about something. After a moment of hesitation, she seemed to make a decision and spoke to Dorothy.
“Um, Miss Dorothyia, are you interested in Adele Briouze’s dance?”
“Adele Briouze?”
Hearing Neve’s words, Dorothy paused slightly, then recalled what she had read in the morning newspaper.
“She seems to be quite a famous dancer. I saw an advertisement for her in the newspaper. They say she dances very well, and apparently, she has a performance tomorrow evening.”
“Yes, yes. Miss Adele is a renowned dancer in Tivyán. Tomorrow, everyone will be watching. Supposedly, tickets sold out five or six days ago. Miss Dorothyia, I got two tickets for tomorrow night’s performance today because of some special opportunities. As an apology for not completing the task you assigned on time, I want to give you one of these tickets. We can watch the performance together.”
As she spoke, Neve took out the ticket originally meant for her roommate Aima and handed it to Dorothy. Dorothy showed a hint of surprise when she saw it.
“Adele’s performance ticket? Where did you get this from? Getting tickets for such a popular event at this time should be difficult, right?” Dorothy asked with a hint of doubt as she looked at the ticket Neve handed over.
“It’s like this, in the morning, I encountered the person who followed me last time…”
Thus, Neve recounted her encounter with Mosans earlier that morning. After listening, Dorothy couldn’t help but think to herself.
‘So there are Extraordinary Beings selling scalped tickets? Looks like low-level Extraordinary Beings in Tivyán aren’t living as comfortably as those in Igewent. Over there, any apprentice is already a small boss or landlord, while here, an apprentice is just a gang leader selling scalped tickets. Could it be because there are too many Extraordinary Beings in the capital, leading to intense competition?’
Dorothy thought, although she also knew it was more likely due to Mosans unwillingness to join other secret factions.
“Huh… An Extraordinary Being selling scalped tickets? I’ve learned something new. From what you said, he was chased by both the police and the theater people? So unimpressive, huh?” Dorothy laughed lightly. Neve nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, and compared to the police… This Mosans seems to be more afraid of the theater people. They held him down and searched him, and he screamed in pain, which was much worse than what the police would do.”
“Painful enough to scream, huh? Mosans is quite the actor.” Dorothy laughed again, knowing that Mosans was a Thirster. For ordinary people to hold him down and cause him pain indicated his acting skills.
“Good acting. At that moment, Mosans really acted as if it were real, but…”
Hearing Dorothy’s words, Neve furrowed her brow, sensing something wasn’t right. Then she spoke to Dorothy.
“Oh, Miss Dorothyia, among the theater staff who held Mosans, there seemed to be someone who knew Mosans, and they even said that Mosans used to box, and that he liked to cheat during fights!”
“Boxing?”
Hearing Neve’s words, Dorothy was taken aback, then recalled the words Mosans had spoken when they cornered him in an alleyway.
Dorothy remembered Mosans mentioning that he had once belonged to a secret society called Golai Black Fist Club, which had been destroyed by the Placenta Sect and the Wolf bl**d Association.
“It seems I need to see this performance tomorrow.”
Muttering to herself, Dorothy picked up the ticket on the table.
