Chapter 289: If Everything Could Happen Again, How Nice It Would Be (Revised)
“As we take from monsters and use them against each other, we continue to challenge the stronger ones.”
“So, we decided to use the power of an Evil Dragon to kill another Evil Dragon.”
“That’s why you used the Tempered Black Dragon’s materials to craft equipment?”
Jie Jie recalled seeing large refining facilities on his journey.
“Yeah, many craftsmen aboard Flying Airships went to the frontline fortresses that faced off against the Tempered Black Dragon to collect materials for immediate refining.”
“It was as if it were our birthright; everything went smoothly. Only we dared to approach the fragments that fell from the Evil Dragon.”
Those fragments crushed fortresses like meteorites, with the Evil Dragon’s blood flowing like rivers of lava.
“We combined a great deal of Ancient Dragon material, but after crafting the armor made from Evil Dragon materials, there wasn’t a single Hunter who could wear it.”
The Evil Dragon’s armor rejected everyone; even the mere thought of wearing it induced primal fear.
“The armor only acknowledged one Hunter—a hero who had taken the fierce eye of the Tempered Black Dragon.”
The Great Elder lifted his head, looked toward the darkened sky, and closed his eyes.
The Tempered Black Dragon was choosing its dance partner, and the legendary Hunter would never refuse.
“He accepted.”
“Yes, but after being rescued from the battlefield, he was almost completely paralyzed. Everyone hoped he’d retreat to recover, and I too refused his offer, deciding to go alone to Poké Village.”
The Great Elder glanced at Jie Jie with some surprise but then helplessly closed his eyes upon seeing the red-haired, fanged face, letting out a heavy pant.
After a violent fluctuation in his thoughts, he continued his story.
“Besides him wearing the Evil Dragon armor, we had other weapons capable of killing the Evil Dragon—weapons only Dragon People could draw, not just me.”
Poké Village housed a massive sword forged from Black Dragon materials, wieldable only by Dragon People. The Dragon Person chased the White God Collapse Dragon deep into the snow mountain but triggered an avalanche due to the latter’s desperate counterattack.
After the avalanche, the White God hid away in the sealed snowy depths, while the Dragon Person established a village at the foot of the mountain, waiting for the destined rematch.
But until the Dragon Person passed away, the White God never reappeared. However, the weapon they used remained frozen within Poké Village, awaiting future generations to fulfill the mission of defeating the White God.
If anything could kill the immortal Tempered Black Dragon, surely that Black Dragon Sword could do it.
“I went to Poké Village and drew that weapon, but my fated rival appeared…”
“The White God Collapse Dragon, hmm, nothing special.”
The Collapse Dragon, the counterpart to the Black God Tyrant Dragon. Legend has it that when the White God and Black God unite, the world will end.
This legend is widespread, surpassing even the tales of the Black Dragon, causing more disasters than those shadowy myths. Naive Hunters might consider the Black-White Gods and the Black Dragon equal mythical entities, which has somewhat influenced their star ratings.
“But on the way to Dongduoluma, countless refugees were migrating due to frequent calamities, and I repelled the crazed monsters chasing the crowds…”
Amidst the disaster caused by the Tempered Black Dragon’s arrival, monsters with sharp instincts became even more frenzied, even involving Ancient Dragons.
Hunters scattered across various regions gathered towards the path of the Tempered Black Dragon, leaving very few and relatively weak hunters to protect the migrating villagers.
A group of regular Blue Speed Dragons could wreak havoc on a human settlement, let alone the chaotic monsters caught up in chain reactions.
They chose the safest routes, but safety between them and the monsters was non-existent.
Monsters attacked villages and hunted migrating groups.
Panic spread among the fleeing masses, leading to mutual trampling and pushing comrades towards the approaching Blue Speed Dragons, even as their own legs failed them.
The escorting Hunters, being human, could panic and flee due to the civilians’ fear, getting distracted and injured while worrying about the crowd. Yet disasters wouldn’t stop because of this.
In the end, only a small number of people managed to gather around the Great Elder.
With just a sweep of the Evil Dragon Great Sword, any Large Monster would know its defeat was inevitable, either dying or retreating.
But fragile human spirits couldn’t be repaired, and the Great Elder was just one person.
“Ah… In the end, all I saw was the sky and earth burning; I didn’t make it in time…”
Bloody hues bloomed in the sky, scorching the fierce light, and powerful earthquakes made even mighty Dragon People stagger, while ordinary people collapsed helplessly, unable to pull themselves from the abyss.
The old man, crawling out of hell, sobbed and panted, his breathing feeling like his last effort.
He discarded the heavy Great Sword, drew the Wakizashi from his waist without hesitation, and stabbed it into his abdomen.
“There wasn’t anyone to perform seppuku for me. The Evil Dragon weapon sustained my life, and when I opened my eyes, I saw people still needing me.”
The Dragon Minister crawled to the Dragon Person’s face and poured the last bit of water into their mouth.
Awakening, the Dragon Person wondered if this was heaven or hell, trying to struggle against the world but realizing they had to first release the Evil Dragon blade.
“People need me; the world needs us to find a new place and sow new seeds.”
Jie Jie remained silent, accompanying the Dragon Person as they recovered.
The hunter hiding outside the mountain crevice still peeked, wanting to come closer but unable to move due to trembling legs.
He couldn’t see the resonating inferno, but he could hear his grandfather’s despair.
Jie Jie took a few steps, disappearing into the shadow of the mountain crevice, watching the hunter stay by the Great Elder.
“What exactly are you?”
The Great Elder’s thoughts remained connected, calmly asking the vanished Flame King Dragon.
“I’m just a traveler here… should I carry this story elsewhere?”
Jie Jie paused briefly before answering.
The Great Elder’s consciousness reached out but retracted, wanting to say something yet stopping.
He didn’t care much about the other’s identity, simply nodding.
Jie Jie also disappeared from the Dragon Person’s mind.
He climbed to the mountaintop, gazing at the human settlement, pondering what he could do within his capabilities.
It wasn’t about giving a little charity, but blessing the remnants of civilization in a shattered world.
Energy surged upward as he attracted it from beneath the ground.
You have to wait your turn.
The energy became orderly, eager to enter the body of the Míng Dēng Lóng.
But just as they lined up to enter, Jie Jie stopped absorbing, leaving the organized energy confused and sinking back down.
Before they sank, Jie Jie expressed absorption again, making them requeue.
Unconquered cities drew warriors who lined up neatly.
The city gates opened and closed, but no warrior managed to rush in during the gaps.
Until the warriors at the back couldn’t see the front and kept lining up, while the ones in front were blocked by the rear and couldn’t disperse.
Even if the city left, the warriors’ lines would go on forever, stabilizing and constraining the chaotic energy.
He didn’t make anyone’s clothes unwearable; he merely removed an unnoticeable button under intricate carvings.
The Dragon Person watched blue stars fly into the bloody night, carrying their stories away.
He should leave some stories for the future of this world; perhaps they’d become ancient texts for the next generation of civilization.
The Dragon Person inscribed on the slate.
“If everything could happen again, how nice it would be.”
“If everything never happened, how nice it would be.”

Monster Life Starting from Collecting Materials
Status: Ongoing
When you see a mighty male fire dragon soaring through the sky, you can't confidently say it’s truly a fire dragon—because it might have been a rare silver fire dragon before you noticed it.
If you suspect it was a silver fire dragon, it could have been a spinosaurus even earlier.
When someone tells you it was once a spinosaurus, you still can’t be sure—because before others saw it, it might have been an elder extinction dragon.
You may feel certain it’s a flying dragon by now, yet you can't assert that either—because underground where you can't see, it might actually be an ancient mountain dragon.
So, what is it really?
In the beginning,
It was just a hairy spider.
