Chapter 290: Eating Books.
Beyond the collapsed earth and uplifted bays, the ancient tower still stood clustered amidst the encircling broken mountain range.
Ragged and tattered, yet seemingly always this ragged and tattered.
Without the raucous roars or any monsters guarding the area for him to breach, Jié Jié directly flew to the top of the tower, surveying the surroundings.
Here there was no floating white fluorescence; the stones beneath his feet felt colder and more indifferent than normal temperature.
And then?
Jié Jié waited a long time, dreaming of the sun being concealed, his line of sight darkening along with the sky.
A figure clad entirely in white, divine and transcendent, traversed through the deep darkness, raising three fates with arms and head, its cool voice irritating his nerves:
“Are you going to stay in this failed world line?”
Hanging low on his arm, volcanoes fell upon shattered cities.
“Or go to this successful world line?”
Raised on his arm, gray rocks fell onto lush islands.
“Or return to this world line that never happened?”
Above His head, the lighthouse of Tangyia Port overlooked a calm and peaceful ocean.
The self in his dream didn’t hesitate to choose the one above the divine’s head.
He didn’t intend to stay here, nor did he think humanity needed him to share their success and joy. He just wanted to return to a place familiar to him.
The divine admired his sincerity and ensnared him within the second world line—
…
Everything was rolling back, returning to that divergent point.
Just as the Tempered Black Dragon couldn’t truly destroy everything, neither could the rollback erase all traces. A few slates were uncovered by the dragon people chasing the White God, found amidst the crevices of history.
Legends of humans turning into dragons, past records of witnessing Giant Halberd Dragons, the revived Tempered Black Dragon making a comeback…
Contradictory legends were never forgotten in the corners of history until they were dug up again when needed.
Perhaps many records and legends have similar appearances, whether they’re the author’s fantasy or something that really happened—these are things the people of today cannot assess.
These fragmented legends and records, merely existing, provide humanity with a little bit of correction, allowing them to prepare for resistance.
The Tempered Black Dragon has reached the point where it’s showing signs of a skull.
Three powerful warships set sail toward the blood-red sky with battle lines, survivors returning from beneath the azure skies.
Gray rocks also fell upon lush islands, which was a good ending for the world.
Bad End chased Jié Jié, pulling itself into the base of Good End. If Jié Jié kept waking up, it would likely create the absurd sensation of a train station chasing after a train.
“What have I been dragged into now?”
The awakened Jié Jié stood atop the lighthouse of Tangyia Port, gazing at the distant peace that seemed somewhat off.
The memories of the dream were fading, but it didn’t stop him from sensing what wasn’t right.
Tangyia Port began evacuating its population, while damaged ships attempted to surround the lighthouse where the Spiny Dragon resided.
“Why don’t you just keep sleeping?”
The Black-Clothed Dragon Person raised an eyebrow, feeling…unexpected.
“I don’t think this is some kind of dream. The death of the Tempered Black Dragon was far from quiet.”
Jié Jié glared at the Black-Clothed Dragon Person. His rapid awakening seemed unexpected to the other party, giving him a sense of breaking free from control.
Why did he wake up? Because he sensed immense energy surging, wanting to explode, causing the Míng Dēng Lóng’s perception to instinctively tremble.
The Tempered Black Dragon died, but it didn’t set the world ablaze.
He looked afar, perhaps this was the difference between a small island in the ocean and the center of the continent, be it regarding the geothermal veins or the continental shelf.
The Tempered Black Dragon died in the right place, its power not having enough time to swell, unable to cause a chain reaction.
All that had happened before seemed like a dream, but the unlocked Giant Halberd Dragon form reminded him that this world wasn’t a dream.
“What exactly do you want to do?”
Knights from the guild climbed the stairs in quick steps, their iron boots making rhythmic sounds on the wooden planks.
Jié Jié wasn’t in a rush, only waiting for the other’s response.
“Follow me.”
As the hunter’s footsteps drew nearer, the Black-Clothed Dragon Person sighed helplessly, turned around, and walked away, his figure growing fainter in Jié Jié’s Energy Perception.
Legendary hunters stepped onto the stairs but saw no sign of the Spiny Dragon. Records from other directions showed the Spiny Dragon shrinking out of sight.
…
Step by step forward.
Unlike being thrown out of the original world directly, or opening his eyes atop the lighthouse of Tangyia Port, Jié Jié followed the Black-Clothed Dragon Person’s pace, seeing layers of space-time rifts appear in his vision.
Overwhelming flames poured down, burning the entire city to ashes.
The monster known as Ghost Frog calmly burped, only to be pierced through its body and dragged to the Shadow Spider to become a feast.
Whether barren or lush, destruction or new sprouts, scenes flickered under the broken glass like a kaleidoscope.
Jié Jié searched for that hellish world but found nothing.
“Don’t look back.”
They walked as if inside a crack filled with cocoons, walking on the cracks of these cocoons, gradually reaching the time and space where the Radiant Black Dragon was observed.
Compared to the previous two methods of crossing over, the journey back wasn’t easy.
Jié Jié stopped, refusing to follow the Black-Clothed Dragon Person into the chaos of the Divine Realm.
He didn’t understand the other’s motives or position, only having a vague guess about his identity.
If the principles of action and causality were incomprehensible, then they should be regarded as natural disasters. This was the answer given by the Great Elder when facing such unclear motives of destruction.
Yet, in humanity’s fate, their rational side always appeared, balancing the immense power they possessed?
Their rationality couldn’t balance the potential cruel disasters they might bring, they merely observed humanity, warning them of impending disasters.
In games, hunters failing meant only losing three cats’ worth of reward money, allowing them to retry until success, without any real Bad Ends. These task announcers full of implications earned themselves the joke of “Immortal Dragon Jump.”
But the humans here couldn’t truly endure such failures disguised as jokes.
The Black-Clothed Dragon Person had already emerged from the unpredictable Divine Realm, holding a broken logbook.
Pages floated and spread on the ground, fragments of the Divine Realm Lord sketched upon them.
“What are these?”
Jié Jié looked up at the Black-Clothed Dragon Person, wanting to confirm his thoughts and stance.
“These are human records of gods before their airship was destroyed.”
“Take a look. Will you burn it, or hand it over to humanity?”

Monster Life Starting from Collecting Materials
Status: Ongoing
When you see a mighty male fire dragon soaring through the sky, you can't confidently say it’s truly a fire dragon—because it might have been a rare silver fire dragon before you noticed it.
If you suspect it was a silver fire dragon, it could have been a spinosaurus even earlier.
When someone tells you it was once a spinosaurus, you still can’t be sure—because before others saw it, it might have been an elder extinction dragon.
You may feel certain it’s a flying dragon by now, yet you can't assert that either—because underground where you can't see, it might actually be an ancient mountain dragon.
So, what is it really?
In the beginning,
It was just a hairy spider.
