Chapter 293

Chapter 270: m*rder Case

During the night, at the Feiteng Theatre, the extraordinary performance had come to an end, but the audience in the auditorium continued to vigorously discuss what they had just witnessed. They marveled at Adelle’s astonishing dance skills, which seemed to have improved even further. Some discussed the dance itself titled “The Crimson Mother,” questioning its meaning and the unexpected assassination that turned out to be part of the choreography. Others talked about the lesser-known dancer who was the main supporting actress, expressing curiosity about this young dancer who could keep up with Adelle’s steps. Many believed she had great potential, having been chosen by Adelle as her partner.

In the auditorium, Dorothy had lost interest in continuing to watch the show. She was now relying on the faint Spiritual Thread left on the zombie puppet Maria to sense its location. According to her senses, Maria was still within the theater, away from the backstage and closer to the audience area.

‘What’s going on? The puppet stopped moving right after it arrived. Is the controller there? What is he doing?’

Dorothy thought to herself, sensing that the puppet had remained stationary for several minutes, possibly indicating the presence of a hidden manipulator. To avoid alerting Maria’s original controller, Dorothy kept the Spiritual Thread very fine, only able to sense direction. Therefore, to confirm the puppet’s situation, she quietly opened her Magic Box and took out the gecko zombie puppet.

Dorothy controlled the gecko puppet to quickly dart from under the seats in the auditorium, swiftly leaving the venue and rushing toward the direction where Maria was located.

Outside the venue, the gecko zombie puppet rapidly moved along the walls of the corridor. Soon, it approached Maria’s location. As it got closer, she heard a piercing scream.

“Ah! Ah! Ah!”

Hearing this, Dorothy was momentarily stunned but then immediately accelerated, rushing towards the source of the scream. She saw an open door leading to a washroom with a middle-aged woman sitting in front of it, pale and terrified.

Seeing this scene, Dorothy sensed something was wrong and continued to control the gecko puppet to crawl through the wall into the washroom, where she saw the horrifying sight.

Inside the small washroom, bloodstains dotted the walls, and the floor was covered in fresh bl**d. In the pool of bl**d lay a familiar figure, pale-faced with wide eyes. One eye was a hollow bloody socket, and deep bl**d scratches marred her face. bl**d flowed heavily from her abdomen, and in front of her, several skewed letters spelled out a name Dorothy recognized.

‘That guy… actually did this…’ Dorothy thought, observing the scene through the gecko puppet.

Meanwhile, inside the venue, Dorothy stood up from her seat, and Nephne noticed and asked curiously, “What’s wrong, Miss Dorothy?”

“Nothing, I’m just going to the washroom. I’ll be right back.”

After a brief response, Dorothy quickly left the venue. Upon reaching a secluded corner, she took out her Magic Box, adjusted the exit, and controlled a figure to crawl out.

Back at the washroom where Maria was found dead, the discovery of the body by the old woman triggered a gathering of people. These were spectators who had come to use the facilities during the intermission. They gathered outside the washroom, shocked by what they saw.

They were not only horrified by the state of the corpse in the washroom but also by the message left by the deceased—“Adelle.”

“Hey… Hey… Someone’s dead. There’s a dead person here!”

“Isn’t that the dancer who performed with Adelle on stage just now? How could she d*e here all of a sudden…”

“This bl**d… Could it be…”

A group of people stood at the entrance of the bloody washroom, panic-stricken. Just as they were at a loss, a steady, deep voice suddenly echoed from behind them.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please stay calm.”

Hearing this, everyone turned around to see a man approaching them, dressed in a dark gray coat, wearing a low-crowned hat, tall and thin, with a hooked nose and deep-set eyes. He carried a cane, his gaze sharp.

“Unfortunately, it seems a m*rder case has occurred. I’ve alerted the theater staff to maintain order and call the police. Please step aside and do not tamper with the scene. As witnesses, please stay put until the police arrive.”

Pointing to the side with his cane, the man addressed the surprised crowd. One of them looked at him doubtfully and asked, “Who are you?”

“I’m Ed, a detective,” Edric responded with a smile.

Late at night, outside the Feiteng Theatre, several carriages rushed down the street from afar. Despite the rows of carriages already lining the roadside, these new ones continued to rush towards the curb, ringing their bells.

Seeing the carriages speeding towards them, the drivers initially intended to shout and wave them off, but upon seeing the police insignia on the carriages, they quickly made way, allowing the new arrivals to park.

Several carriages bearing police insignias came to a stop at the entrance of the Feiteng Theatre. Then, several uniformed officers in iron helmets stepped down from the carriages. The senior officer, a middle-aged policeman, led the way.

Sheriff Douglas stood at the entrance of the Feiteng Theatre. After receiving the report, he glanced at the giant poster above the theater and examined the beautiful woman depicted on it. He then led his men inside. At the theater’s entrance, a security guard was anxiously waiting.

“Did you report the crime? There’s been a m*rder here? Where is the victim?” Douglas asked directly.

The guard replied with joy, “Officer, you’re finally here. The incident occurred in the washroom on the third-floor corridor. I’ll take you there.”
