Chapter 30: Conversations in a Bar
The location for talking with this man was not inside the Royal Palace, but rather at a bustling bar outside.
“Choosing to talk in a bar? You really have some unique tastes, huh?”
I mean, she said she wanted a quiet place, yet here we were in this noisy bar. I honestly couldn’t figure out what this Little Princess was thinking.
“Thanks for the compliment! I personally prefer discussing matters over drinks. Now, let’s get down to business. What exactly do you want to tell me? I’m a bit concerned about you, and it’s not that easy to ease my worries, so please say something substantial, none of that nonsense.”
Aierjisi ordered three beers, one for herself, Yake, and the man.
“Alright, but shouldn’t you be the one to ask me questions first? If you don’t ask me anything, how can I answer? I don’t even know what to say to ease your concerns.”
The man gulped down half of his beer.
“Okay, then I’ll ask you first. Why did you choose that moment to take action? There should have been a better time.”
“Didn’t you already ask me that before? I told you, I wanted to see just how capable you all are. My training for disciples is strict, and if you can’t even clear the entry-level threshold, you might just die under my training. So only by confirming your limits can I consider taking you all as my disciples. Do you understand now?”
“Ha.”
Aierjisi couldn’t help but chuckle at his response. Dying in training? Just how brutal was this man’s teaching style?
“I guess you’re wondering if my training is really that cruel, right?”
The man easily guessed Aierjisi’s thoughts. In fact, many of his previous disciples, much like this Little Princess, believed it was just routine training and couldn’t be that harsh. But once they faced his training, they learned he was no joke.
“Pretty much. I truly think that way. I have no idea how cruel your training really is.”
“You’ll find out soon enough. Come with me, and once we get to the training area, you’ll see just how brutal it is.”
“Fine, let’s put that topic aside for now. I’ll ask my second question. Why did you choose us?”
Aierjisi mainly wanted to know this—why specifically were these six chosen. It was a question that needed answering. However, whether one more or one less didn’t seem to matter; she wouldn’t be this wary of the man.
“That question? I don’t really know how to answer that. I just somehow noticed the potential in you six. So, I decided to take all six of you as my disciples.”
It sounded absurd, but the man was telling the truth; he really did see potential in them.
“Hmm… that’s surprisingly simple reasoning. Alright, we’ll leave that for now. Now for my last question, who exactly are you?”
“I’m nobody special, just an ordinary passerby, nothing more. Although many in this world call me a demon.”
“You’re kidding, right? Just a passerby wouldn’t have such power. Plus, based on the intel I got from my Father King, it seems you’ve been hanging around this world for a long time. An ordinary human couldn’t possibly live that long.”
“Your father, Carl, right? Speaking of which, I met him not long ago while he was busy rebuilding the Moon God Palace.”
“?! You met my Father King? When did that happen? How come I didn’t know?”
Aierjisi stood up, banging the table in excitement. When did this man meet her father? They hadn’t even separated for a few days!
“Oh, just about two days ago. It had been a while since I last saw him. I finally sensed his presence reappearing in this world, so I went to see him. That’s all there is to it.”
The man casually mentioned it as if it was no big deal.
“What did you talk to my father about?”
“Not much, just some casual chat about you. I told him I planned to take you as my disciple.”
“That’s all?”
“What else? Do I look like someone who talks about other things? Or should I discuss your choice of underwear today? I know exactly what you’ve got on under that skirt.”
“Okay, okay, enough of that topic. But I still want to ask how you know about our journey so far?”
Aierjisi covered her skirt with her hands. This man even knew about this kind of stuff? And as he mentioned, he knew all about their battles? How was he able to see so much? It seemed impossible to see three different places at once.
“It’s simple; the wind told me.”
“The wind? The wind can tell you these things? How come I didn’t know?”
“Of course, you wouldn’t know! You’re nowhere near my level yet. When you reach a state where you can communicate with the wind, water, lightning, earth, and nature itself, you’ll understand how I feel.”
“I completely don’t understand what you’ve been saying. How can we possibly talk to nature? We’re not part of it!”
Aierjisi couldn’t wrap her head around what the man was saying. The idea of communicating with nature seemed utterly impossible.
“If you don’t get it, that’s fine. With your potential, one day you will reach my level and understand how I feel.”
Seeing that Aierjisi didn’t comprehend his point, the man wasn’t in a hurry. With their current potential, it was indeed impossible for them to grasp his feelings.
