Chapter 30: Mios
“Here, this room is currently unoccupied, so you can rest well here. No one will come back to bother you. Well, I’ll take my leave now. See you again, Mr. Yake.”
After leading Yake to an empty room, Mios skipped away, leaving Yake looking completely puzzled.
“What should I do now? I guess I should contact Aier with the Contract. At the very least, I need to let her know I’m not there anymore.”
Thinking about how much Aierjisi relied on him for daily life, Yake felt that if he suddenly disappeared, Aierjisi would surely be flustered. So he decided to reach out to her.
“Aier, Aier. Can you hear me? It’s Yake. I’m not in the room anymore; I’m in an empty room I don’t even know where! A guy named Mios brought me here.”
Yake tried to communicate with Aierjisi through their Contract, but no matter how many times he called, Aierjisi didn’t respond.
“Oh no, could something have happened on her end?”
If it were only one or two times with no reply, it wouldn’t be so alarming. But now he’d already called nearly ten times, and Aierjisi was still silent. It was hard for Yake to think everything was okay.
“I can’t just sit here. I need to go find her.”
Yake left the room, trying to find his way back to the original room. Then a new problem arose…
He didn’t know which way to go to get back. The corridors of the Royal Palace were just too intricate. Plus, he had been dragged here by that cat girl, so he hadn’t remembered the route at all.
“What should I do? I can’t find my way back. I might as well wait here for Aier to come find me.”
Rather than running around this kingdom aimlessly, he figured it would be better to stay in this room and patiently await the Little Princess.
“Alright. That’s the plan, good night!”
Yake returned to the room, lay down on the bed, and closed his eyes to rest.
Meanwhile, Aierjisi actually heard Yake’s calls, but she didn’t want to respond. After all, she was really busy and needed to concentrate. One tiny mistake could make the little thing in her hands explode.
“Phew. With this, it should be fine. I just hope I can use it successfully…”
Aierjisi wiped the cold sweat off her forehead. This was the first time she was making a Magic Device by herself. Though she had done it before with the help of Teacher Hikari, this was her first time creating a Magic Device completely on her own.
“Alright, time to find a place to test this out. Huh? Where’s Yake? Where did he run off to?”
Holding the items from the table, Aierjisi was ready to go out for a test, while also wanting Yake to come over to test the new Weapon. But Yake was already gone from the door.
“Wait a minute, didn’t he send me a message? What did he say? I didn’t really pay attention at that time.”
Aierjisi tapped her little head. It seemed that Yake indeed communicated something through the Contract, but her focus had been on making the Magic Device, so she hadn’t paid attention.
“Was it something about Mios? Who is that? Is he one of the people here?”
“Yake, Yake. If you can hear my voice, please reply. Where are you? I need to prepare to test the new Weapon.”
Aierjisi tried to contact Yake through the Contract, but she couldn’t tell what he was doing now, nor did he reply.
“Not even acknowledging my call? Wow, seems like I need to teach you a lesson about who’s the master here.”
After several unanswered messages, Aierjisi’s expression turned sour. This Yake, honestly! How dare he, as a servant, ignore his master’s calls! His guts were getting bigger by the day!
“Forget it. I’ll ask Gaia if there’s anyone named Mios in the Royal Palace.”
Since she couldn’t reach Yake using the Contract, she decided to find Gaia and see if she could locate Yake through the guy named Mios.
“Ah, Miss Aierjisi, where are you off to?”
Just as she took a step, she heard Ouxs’s voice from behind.
“Nothing much, just going to find Gaia. Yake’s gone, and I want to ask where he went. He mentioned being taken away by someone named Mios.”
“Wait a moment. Mios? If it’s that person, I know him! If you’re looking for him, I can take you.”
Upon hearing that familiar name, Ouxs volunteered to be the guide.
“Oh, really? That would be a great help. Please take me to this Mios person.”
“Sure, follow me. Mios is pretty easy to find.”
Following Ouxs, Aierjisi wound through the Royal Palace, not knowing how many circles they made before finally arriving in front of a door.
“This is the room?”
Aierjisi pointed at the door. Ouxs nodded silently, stretched out his hand, and lightly knocked twice.
“Mios, are you in there? Someone is looking for you.”
As he knocked, Ouxs spoke.
“Coming, coming! Ouxs! Long time no see! Did you come to play with me today? Being shut in that Laboratory must have been so hard for you, huh?”
As soon as the door opened, a figure darted out and tackled Ouxs to the ground, nudging his face repeatedly.
“Ah, is that… a cat girl?”
Aierjisi looked at the person who had burst out, noting the cat ears on either side of her head and the cat tail attached at her rear. This person must be a cat girl, right? But does this world really have cat girls? She had never heard of them. Had they appeared as a new species while she was sealed?
“Alright, stop rubbing your face against mine and get up! There are others here, you know!”
In contrast to Mios’s joy, Ouxs looked utterly disgusted as he pushed her face away from him.
“Eh? Who is this cute little girl? She looks adorable! Let me hold her!”
After getting up, Mios noticed Aierjisi standing nearby. It was her first time seeing such a cute girl, and before Aierjisi could react, Mios swept her into her arms, rubbing against her.
“Yikes!!!”
Aierjisi let out a wail as Mios embraced her.
What on earth is this? Why did she just suddenly hug me?
